Thalapathy Vijay, founder of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam party, has reportedly faced another major setback. His much-anticipated final film, Jana Nayagan, originally scheduled for a January release, failed to hit theatres due to several issues. Now, the film has encountered yet another significant problem.
Prime Video Reportedly Backs Out of ₹120 Crore Deal
According to the latest reports, leading streaming platform Amazon Prime Video has reportedly cancelled the OTT rights deal for Jana Nayagan. The platform had earlier acquired the digital rights for around ₹120 crore.
Since the film was not released on time and has still not completed its censor certification, Amazon Prime Video is said to have withdrawn from the agreement. This news hasn’t been officially confirmed yet.
Multiple Issues Plague Jana Nayagan’s Release
Jana Nayagan has generated massive expectations among fans because it is believed to be the final film of Tamil star Vijay. The film is directed by H. Vinoth and features Pooja Hegde and Mamitha Baiju in key roles.
The film has been facing repeated delays due to several hurdles. While fans eagerly await a new release date, another obstacle has recently surfaced.
The film was expected to complete its censor process a few days ago. But the certification process was temporarily halted after a member of the review committee reportedly fell ill.
What This Means for Vijay and Jana Nayagan
While fans eagerly await positive updates on the film’s release, the reported cancellation of the OTT deal by Amazon Prime Video has dealt another blow to Vijay and the Jana Nayagan team. For now, fans are hoping this news turns out to be false.
