Sankranti week is almost here and the pre-sales for the upcoming movies are in full swing. The festive season will see the releases of Waltair Veerayya, Veera Simha Reddy, Varisu, and Thunivu. There is massive hype for all the movies and the recently released trailers of these films have created a great buzz in the trade circles as well as among fans and have done well in USA premieres.
Coming to pre-sales for USA premieres, it’s Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy that is surprisingly leading the race. Directed by Gopichand Malineni, the film has so far collected $340,180 from 210 locations. Shruti Haasan will be seen opposite Balayya and the film promises to be an out-and-out mass entertainer.
Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya which also stars Ravi Teja and Shruti Haasan and is directed by Bobby has collected $275,020 from 190 locations. Both Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy are produced by Mythri Movie Makers.
Vijay’s Varisu which is produced by Dil Raju has collected $55,165 from 100 locations while Ajith’s Thunivu has done pre-sales of $50,005 from 75 locations.
With less than a week to go for all these releases, it will be interesting to see what numbers these films register for premieres. Balakrishna in particular has surprised many with Veera Simha Reddy’s pre-sales. The overseas market was traditionally Balayya and Gopichand Malineni’s weak point. However, the duo have done a great job in the overseas market.
