Tough period for exhibitors In Telugu states

2023 started on a great note for the Telugu film industry and exhibitors had a great start to the year. Ravi Teja’s Dhamaka released on December 22nd and continued its great show into the new year as well. The film had a clear ground till Sankranti and performed way better than expected and emerged as a massive hit.

Sankranti saw the release of Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy which ran to packed houses during the festive season and even post-weekend. Waltair Veerayya in particular was unstoppable and ran to packed houses for weeks and emerged as the biggest hit of Chiranjeevi’s career.

Post Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy, several movies hit the screens but only Writer Padmabhushan managed to draw the audience to the theatres and that too in Nizam and overseas. Amigos, Hunt, and Michael all failed miserably and are running to empty houses all over.

And now there are no big movies till March end till Nani’s Dasara releases. Exhibitors are hoping for small films to bring the audience to theatres in this dull period. Dhanush’s Sir and Kiran Abbavaram’s Vinaro Bhagyamu Vishnu Katha are releasing this week and all eyes are on these projects now.
