Tamil Nadu Exhibitors Requested Government For Ticket Hike

The Tamil Nadu Exhibitors Association has made a plea to the Tamil Nadu Government to increase the ticket rates. This is due to the low ticket prices in the state, which is adversely affecting the exhibitors. But how is it affecting them? Let us take a look.

The producer of the film, that is the one who allocates a budget, sells the film for a certain price. Different exhibitors buy the film for different prices based on the location and the market of that film. That is, it depends on the actor, director, and many other factors.

So, if a producer sells the film for a certain price, in short, the exhibitor has to make more than that for profit. The exhibitor cuts a deal with the theatres and the profit is shared based on that deal.

Then what is the problem? The problem is that the ticket rates in Tamil Nadu are extremely low. To cite an example, in a metropolitan city like Chennai itself, the ticket prices go as low as 65 Rupees. And this is not in a single-screen theatre or a Non AC theatre. This is the price in multiplexes. As a result, the exhibitors are struggling to meet table profits.

In light of this, they have requested the government for revised ticket prices. Under this request, Multiplexes ticket prices are 250 for A/C and 150 for Non-A/C. The

For corporations, municipalities, and Panchayats, it is 200 for A/C and 120 for Non-A/C. Recliner seats are priced at 350 Rupees and EPIQ screens are priced at 400, whereas IMAX screens are priced at 450.
