Kollywood could be heading for one of its biggest collaborations in years. Suriya and Dhanush may join hands for a film, and the director said to be bringing them together is none other than Mani Ratnam.
A Two-Hero Script
According to reports, Mani Ratnam has developed a two-hero script and is considering Suriya and Dhanush for the lead roles.
The filmmaker is said to have already approached both actors with the project.
Both Stars Interested
The good news for fans is that both Suriya and Dhanush have reportedly shown interest in the film. Further discussions are said to be underway.
If everything falls into place, including remuneration and dates, the project is expected to be officially announced.
Why This Would Be Huge
Suriya and Dhanush are two of the biggest stars in Tamil cinema, and they have never shared the screen in a full-fledged film. Bringing them together in a Mani Ratnam film would make it one of the most exciting projects in Kollywood.
Mani Ratnam has a strong history with multi-starrers. His Ponniyin Selvan films brought together a big ensemble cast, and he has always been known for getting the best out of his actors.
Suriya has worked with Mani Ratnam before in Aayutha Ezhuthu. For Dhanush, this would be his first film with the legendary director.
Inji Vellam Up Next
Meanwhile, Mani Ratnam has completed the shoot of his next film, Inji Vellam, a romantic drama starring Vijay Sethupathi and Sai Pallavi. A.R. Rahman has composed the music, and the film is expected to hit theatres in January next year.
Once Inji Vellam is out, all eyes will be on whether the Suriya and Dhanush project becomes official.
Both Stars Have November Releases
Both stars also have big releases this month. Suriya’s Scene hits theatres on November 6 for Diwali. Two weeks later, Dhanush arrives with OM, an action film co-starring Mammootty, which releases on November 20.
With both films out this month, the timing is right for fans to keep an eye on the Mani Ratnam project too.
