Prabhas and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit has locked October 29, 2027, for Diwali. But there’s one big problem. Diwali 2027 was already claimed by another giant, Ramayana Part 2.
If neither film moves, Indian cinema could be headed for its biggest box office clash ever.
Ramayana Part 2 Called Diwali 2027 First
Back in November 2024, the makers of Ramayana announced that the epic would release in two parts. Part 1 was set for Diwali 2026, and Part 2 for Diwali 2027.
Part 1 is now on track, releasing on November 5 this year. So as things stand, Part 2 is still officially planned for Diwali 2027. That puts it right in Spirit’s path.

Why This Clash Would Be Massive
These two films sit at the very top of Indian cinema.
Spirit brings together Prabhas, the biggest pan-India star of the Baahubali era, and Vanga, coming off the huge success of Animal. The film is planned for a global release, including Chinese, Japanese and Korean versions.
Ramayana Part 2 will continue one of the most expensive Indian films ever made. And in Part 2, Yash’s Ravana is expected to take centre stage.
A Clash Within the Same Circle
There’s an interesting twist here. Spirit’s female lead, Triptii Dimri, and Ramayana’s Ranbir Kapoor both came from Animal, Vanga’s last film. Vanga’s last hero and his new hero could face off on the same festival.
Prabhas vs Yash Too
The clash isn’t just about Bollywood vs Tollywood. Yash is the face of KGF and a huge draw in the South, especially in Karnataka. A Prabhas vs Yash fight at the South box office would split the audience in ways the trade would watch very closely.
Part 1 Will Decide a Lot
A lot depends on how Ramayana Part 1 performs next month. A record-breaking run would give the makers the confidence to stick with Diwali 2027. Anything less, or delays in Part 2’s VFX work, could push it to a later date.
On the other side, T-Series has now made Spirit’s date official with a poster, which signals the team is serious about Diwali 2027.
Will Someone Blink?
Big clashes like this rarely stay locked till the end. Both films need wide screen counts across India and overseas. Splitting them would hurt both.
For now, the dates are on paper. But if Spirit and Ramayana Part 2 both hold their ground, Diwali 2027 will be the biggest box office battle Indian cinema has ever seen.
