Fans of the hit boxing film by Pa Ranjith Sarpatta Parambarai were in for a delightful surprise yesterday to know that a sequel is being produced for their most liked film. Arya will reprise his role as the lead character Kabilan from the first part of the film. The movie was released in OTT (Amazon Prime) in time of Corona pandemic and received massive appreciation in all languages and the sequel will certainly have a big craze.
However, it is unclear currently that except for Arya, other cast members from the first movie such as Dushara Vijayan, who played Kabilan’s wife Mariamma, Shabeer Kallarakkal aka the immensely popular Dancing Rose, Kalaiyarasan as Vetri, Pasupathy as Rangan Vathiyar, Kabilan’s arch-rival Vembuli played by John Kokken, or any of the stars including John Vijay (Daddy), Santhosh Prathap (Raman), and Muthukumar (Thaniga) are returning for the sequel or not.
At the end of Sarpatta Parambarai, we saw Kabilan claiming a win over Vembuli, the best fighter of the rival clan Idiyappan making a big comeback and fighting 13 exhausting turns. The boxing drama period was set against the northern backdrop of Madras, which highlights the years of emergency through the overlap of sport, caste, and politics.
Co-written by novelist Tamil Prabha and Pa Ranjith, the film received overwhelming reviews from the critics and outstanding applause from the audience. Now the audience will be eager to see if the sequel can live up to its predecessor and on what lines would be this new saga of Kabilan will be made.
