SS Rajamouli’s RRR still makes the audience in the west to impress during the film’s successful Oscar campaign. As part of Beyond Fest’s ‘encoRRRe’, the film will be screened at the TCL Chinese IMAX theater on January 9 and the tickets for the show, which seats 932 people, were sold out in just ‘98 seconds’.
Beyond Fest took to Twitter to express it as a ‘historic’ moment for an Indian film.”It’s official, and it’s historic. @RRRMovie sold out the @ChineseTheatres @IMAX in 98 seconds. There has never been a screening like this of an Indian film before because there has never been a film like RRR before. Thank you @ssrajamouli @Tarak9999 @AlwaysRamCharan @MMKeeravani,” read a tweet from Beyond Fest.
The screening takes place days before Golden Globes 2023, and it will be attended by the director SS Rajamouli ans and the film’s lead actors Ram Charan, NTR and composer MM Keeravani.
RRR, which grossed over ₹1200 crore worldwide during its theatrical run and was celebrated for its breathtaking action sequences, has been the most favorite film of audiences in the west as the film has been re-released across the US as part of the Beyond Fest.
Last October, the film was showcased at TCL Chinese Theatre and was welcomed with a thundering response from the crowd.
Post the screening, it flooded Twitter with videos of the public surging to their feet to applaud, dancing in the corridors, and giving director SS Rajamouli a standing ovation.
Meanwhile, SS Rajamouli landed in New York along with his family to attend the prestigious New York Film Critics Circle Awards 2022. He was conferred with the Best Director award for RRR. He received the award today and the audience gave him a standing ovation for winning the award because of his outstanding work.
