RRR and KGF 2 have been the biggest blockbusters last year and garnered massive collections worldwide. During their theatrical runs, KGF 2 had a slight lead over RRR which now seems to close up. RRR worldwide gross is between 1150 crores and KGF2 is between 1200 crores.
There was around 50 Crores difference between these two films. RRR was released in Japan and at the initial stage, no one expected the film to score big at the Japanese box office and some even commented that releasing RRR in Japan was a waste of time.
However, RRR became a sensational hit in Japan and rewrote the box office records by claiming the number one position in the Indian films released in Japan. While the movie started with low numbers, but went strong thereafter. This SS Rajamouli blockbuster has gathered 45 Crores gross now.
KGF2 had over 50 Crores lead over RRR in Full run and RRR has performed successfully in Japan, and it’s doing extremely well. After getting nominated for the Oscars the numbers have jumped over before weekends.
Now the Japan gross of RRR is at 45 Crores, and it will easily do a minimum of another 15–20 Crores in full run, so it can easily cross the collections of KGF 2 with a good margin and it will become all time Top 3 grosser after Dangal, Baahubali 2.
