The question of who will compose the music for Ram Charan and Sukumar’s RC17 is still open. Producer Y Ravi Shankar of Mythri Movie Makers has made it clear that the decision isn’t the producers’ to make. It’s entirely up to director Sukumar.
Ravi spoke about the film at the teaser launch of Mouli’s Donga Naa Koduku today.
“The Final Call Will Be Sukumar’s”
“After Sukumar garu returns from London, the final call will be taken by him,” Ravi said.
He made it clear that Mythri won’t step in on the choice, and the director will decide who composes the music for RC17.
“It Won’t Hurt DSP”
Ravi also spoke about Devi Sri Prasad, who has been Sukumar’s go-to composer for years.
“Choosing another music director won’t hurt DSP garu. We have a very good bond with him,” he said.
He added that even if DSP is replaced on this film, it doesn’t mean the new composer is better than him. According to Ravi, DSP still has a lot of potential, and his music has connected with audiences across India.
Why This Matters
Sukumar and DSP have one of the most successful partnerships in Telugu cinema. Together, they’ve delivered chartbusters in Arya, Rangasthalam, Pushpa and Pushpa 2.
So when talk came up that Anirudh Ravichander could compose for RC17, it became a big talking point. Ram Charan fans welcomed the idea, while many Sukumar fans were upset at the thought of breaking up the Sukumar and DSP combination.
Ravi’s comments show the matter is still open, and Sukumar will decide once he’s back.
RC17 Pooja on October 26 or 27
Ravi also gave a big update on the film’s start. RC17 will have its pooja ceremony on October 26 or October 27.
The regular shoot is set to begin in December.
The Rangasthalam Reunion
RC17 brings Ram Charan and Sukumar back together after Rangasthalam, one of the biggest hits of both their careers. The film is produced by Mythri Movie Makers, and expectations are already sky-high.
With the pooja just days away, an announcement on the music director could come very soon.
