Ramayana’s USA premiere pre-sales are growing, but not at the pace a film of this scale needs. The film has crossed $275K with 18 days to go for the premieres. To set a big record, it needs much bigger daily jumps in the coming days.
Ramayana USA Premiere Pre-Sales
- Gross: $275,974
- Tickets Sold: 12,527
- Shows: 1,606
- Theatres: 531
- Occupancy: 4.9%
Only $50K in a Day
Yesterday, the film stood at $226K. In about a day, it has added close to $50K and around 2,000 tickets.
That’s steady growth, but not the kind of jump that signals a record-breaking run. With over 1,600 shows already open for booking, occupancy is still under 5%. The numbers need to move much faster.
The Dhurandhar 2 Benchmark
Dhurandhar 2 holds the record for the biggest premieres ever for a Bollywood film in the North America, with $2M+.
To get there, Ramayana needs to add around $1.7M more in the next 17 days. That’s more than six times its current total.
For Ramayana, Dhurandhar 2 Shouldn’t Even Be the Target
Here’s the bigger point. Ramayana is not a regular Bollywood film. It’s one of the most expensive Indian films ever made, with Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi, and a scale built for the world stage.
For a film like this, simply crossing Dhurandhar 2 won’t be enough. It needs to beat that record by a big margin to match its scale and hype. That means massive jumps in the coming days.
IMAX Still Leading the Way
- IMAX: $197,836 (8,392 tickets)
- Premium Large Format: $28,450
- Standard: $22,783
- Motion Experience: $9,416
- Premium Projection: $8,973
- ScreenX: $5,868
- 3D: $2,646
IMAX now contributes about 72% of total sales, with the best occupancy at 9.78%. Audiences clearly want the biggest screen for Ramayana.
AMC Carries Over Half the Sales
- AMC: $150,665 (6,745 tickets)
- Regal: $52,036 (2,067 tickets)
- Cinemark: $46,308 (2,255 tickets)
- Cinepolis: $11,035 (687 tickets)
- Apple Cinemas: $6,683 (290 tickets)
Regal has crossed Cinemark this time, but AMC alone accounts for more than half the total.
South Versions Yet to Start
- Hindi: $272,475 (12,361 tickets)
- Telugu: $2,621 (108 tickets)
- English: $877 (58 tickets)
- Tamil: $0
The Telugu and Tamil versions have barely started. Their contribution could grow once promotions begin in the South, but right now almost everything is coming from Hindi.
The Trailer Could Change Everything
Big films often see their biggest jumps after the trailer and in the final week before release. Ramayana still has time. But to set a record that matches its scale, the growth has to start picking up soon.
