Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan 2 is all set to release this week and the nationwide promotions for this period drama is going on in full swing. Featuring an ensemble cast of Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Karthi, Trisha, and Jayam Ravi, the film is releasing amidst heavy expectations, especially in the Tamil version. For other versions buzz, the film needs to have great opening reviews.
Like the first part, Ponniyin Selvan 2 is also scheduled for own release in all territories. Ponniyin Selvan 1 collected Rs 500Cr gross worldwide and emerged as a smashing blockbuster. Now, for the sequel to be considered successful, it needs to collect more than 30% of 1st part.
The 2nd part needs to collect at least 650Cr gross for hit status. The film is releasing on 28th April but the bookings are a little bit disappointing and need to see a steep hike to get this movie off to a big start. Come 28th April, the word of mouth would be extremely crucial.
