Ponniyin Selvan has set the box office on fire in the last few weeks and emerged as one of the highest-grossing Indian movies of all time. Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus did incredibly well in Tamil Nadu and did great numbers overseas and in other regions as well.
Despite the number of releases in Tamil Nadu for Diwali, the movie enjoyed a very good festive weekend. As of now, Ponniyin Selvan has collected more than 215 crores in Tamil Nadu. In the overseas regions, the film has collected a whopping 160+ crores which is an insane number. This is majorly due to the Mani Ratnam brand that is popular all over the world.
Tamil Nadu and the overseas regions have been the best-performing territories for the film. In the rest of the territories, the movie has collected well over 110 crores. Overall, the film has posted a massive 485 crores at the worldwide box office and is heading towards the 500 crore mark now.
Ponniyin Selvan has turned out to be a hugely profitable venture for the makers as most of the portions of Part 2 have also been completed in the allotted budget. With the success of Part 1, Part 2 is sure to bring in more numbers.
