Director Mani Ratnam’s period epic Ponniyin Selvan-1 has delivered the best performance ever for a Tamil film in its first week, according to trade circles. The Tamil audience has owned up to this film because they have always felt that this movie is their pride. That emotional connection is reflected in the film’s box office performance.
The film has crossed several significant milestones already, including passing the outstanding Rs 300 crore mark at the global box office. By doing so, PS-1 has joined a short list of Tamil films to have made more than Rs 300.
