It has been 16 years since the release of Mahesh Babu’s iconic film Pokiri. To this day, it is celebrated by fans everywhere. When the film was released initially, it became an instant classic. Mahesh’s slang, his mannerisms, and the most memorable, his punchy dialogues in the film made for a brilliant commercial film.
It was one of the most successful films at the time, amassing a whopping 66 crores at the box office. This is especially impressive considering the fact that Pokiri was released in 2006 while movies that are releasing now are struggling to even cross 50 crores.
To celebrate the birthday week of Mahesh Babu, fans have organized special shows of Pokiri in all major territories. The response to these shows is terrific and the shows are showing positive signs of increase. Additional shows are also being added day by day due to popular demand.
The final count of the shows will be more than 100, making it the first film to have 100+ special shows. This just proves yet again that Mahesh has one of the most hardcore fanbases in Tollywood.
The actor is currently enjoying his vacation with his wife, Namrata, and his two kids. After his holiday he will begin shooting for his next with Trivikram Srinivas where he will reportedly be playing the role of a politician.
