Jio Cinema content shifting to Disney+Hotstar soon

Indian Tech Giant, Jio has recently ventured into partnership with another Tech Giant, Disney/Star India. As part of the deal, Jio Cinema App will be merging soon with Disney+Hotstar App. With this, Jio Cinema’s content is also to be shifted to Disney+Hotstar soon. It is also learnt that Hotstar will continue as the content driver due to the superior infrastructure and far more downloads it holds than Jio Cinema.

Disney+Hotstar already stands as one of the leading OTT Giants in India. It mostly streams films, TV Serials, Series and Sports. With the merger, Jio Cinema will be discontinued and Hotstar would act as the official streamer of both Jio and Hotstar’s contents. However, there is no confirmation regarding the rebranding of Disney+Hotstar. Many have been speculating that the newly formed App could be named as Jio Hotstar.

We have to wait and see how the two companies proceed on this. Earlier, Zee and Sony had also decided to merge their operations but no progress was made on this. So, we have to see how Jio and Disney would run their operations jointly now.

Andhra Buyers back with risky bets

In Telugu States, Andhra business is different from Telanagana’s. In Telangana, theatres business mostly happens on an advance basis by putting all risks to Distributors or Producers. But in AP, the risk will be taken by buyers as the business will happen on MG/SG and hires basis for record prices.

In the recent past years, not even a single biggie has delivered profits for Andhra Buyers except Sankranthi films which include RRR, KGF Chapter 2, Sarkaru Vaari Paata, Pushpa and Salaar. All these films haven’t provided good profits for Andhra Buyers. With these scenarios, they have stepped back on getting rights for big films for huge prices. Kalki 2898 AD had to go for own release because of this decision as well. But finally Devara has delivered them the much needed relief. Government’s decision of allowing big ticket prices is also one of the main reasons.

Devara ended up as a profitable venture and Andhra Buyers have started their risky bets again with this. Pushpa 2 AP business ratio is 85 crores which indicates that it has already collected 1.5 times the recent biggie Devara. In Ceded, it is 30 crores and Pushpa 2 has to match Devara style victory for breakeven. But interestingly, Pushpa 2 wasn’t a successful biggie in AP like Baahubali. It did only average here but buyers have been betting big on Pushpa 2. So, we have to see how this works.

It is very common for any film Industry to have gossips and interesting incidents. Sometimes, film journalists or reporters highlight these rumours for their benefit. They even come up with weird questions as part of interviews. Now, the same incident happened during Tollywood’s film, Pottel press meet ahead of its release on 25th October. A lady reporter has degraded Telugu Cinema by bringing out disgusting questions.

Lead Actress of the film, Ananya Nagalla was asked to respond about casting couch issue in Tollywood by the lady reporter. The Actress immediately crushed the question and said that no such culture exists in Tollywood. The reporter then didn’t stop and went on with another shocking question. She asked if there was a culture of deciding the degree of remuneration for the Actresses if they agreed to sexually please someone.

These questions of the lady reporter have gone viral now. She is also being trolled heavily for grilling Actress Ananya Nagalla repeatedly. There were many instances earlier when celebrities were forced to speak about something. But this has crossed all the limits and felt very regressive.

Sathyam Sundaram OTT streaming details

Recent film of Actors Karthi and Arvind Swamy, Meiyazhagan which released as Sathyam Sundaram is set for OTT streaming. The film received positive reviews from both Tamil and Telugu versions after the release. However, it did just average at the box office.

The film will stream on 25th October on leading OTT giant, Netflix in all languages. Many audience have been waiting for the film’s OTT arrival after its popularity on social media platforms. Karthi and Arvind Swamy’s performances received great praise from the film along with the direction by C. Prem Kumar.

The film has also made close to 50 crores gross worldwide. Karthi will be concentrating on Sardaar 2 and Kaithi 2. Sardaar became a big hit for Karthi besides Kaithi as well. So, both these films are greatly anticipated by fans and audience from now on.

Devara Telugu Distributors Party in Dubai

Devara’s blockbuster success has brought huge relief to Koratala Siva and a massive smile on the faces of Jr NTR and the producers. Devara’s entire Telugu states rights were bought by Naga Vamsi and sold to his regular set of distributors area-wise. All his distributors achieved breakeven with good returns.

This achievement makes Devara the only big film in recent times that has achieved good returns to all buyers of Telugu states. To celebrate this success Naga Vamsi threw a grand party to the distributors in Dubai. The action entertainer is into its 4th week and with no big release in sight and all Dasara releases receiving poor word of mouth, its all set to have another few days of run.

This weekend also Devara is expected to perform with good numbers as there are no notable releases. This Koratala Siva film has collected closer to 140 Cr share in Telugu states. It’s expected to add another 5 Cr in Telugu states in case of a big jump this weekend

Rajinikanth to compensate Lyca Productions again?

Rajinikanth collaborated with Lyca Productions for 2.0 as the lead Actor. The film was a heavy budgeted one and ended up as a loss venture for Lyca Productions. Rajini again did Darbar for Lyca which too had failed miserably. He did an extended cameo role in Lal Salaam which was produced by Lyca this year which also became a major disaster. Now, Vettaiyan which released recently is heading towards a failure. Rajinikanth is also learnt to have decided compensating Lyca Productions again with a film.

Rajinikanth has expected Vettaiyan to compensate for the earlier riding losses for Lyca Productions. The film was also planned as a medium budgeted film in the beginning but the cost shot up with Amitabh Bachchan, Rana and Fahadh Faasil coming onboard along with other making sequences.

Vettaiyan did a good pre-release business thanks to Jailer’s massive success. Likewise, Vettaiyan has grossed more than 200 crores making it a decent run but the target of compensating didn’t happen. It is also speculated that Lyca Productions has contacted Rajinikanth to do one more film as a compensation for them. We have to see how Rajinikanth would respond to this.

The countdown has begun and there are just 50 days to go for Pushpa 2 release. The film is all set to release on 6th December with early premieres being planned by the makers. The third single from the film is expected to be out this month and Sukumar and team need to ramp up their promotions game.

Coming to its business, Pushpa 2 did a massive pre-release business in Andhra. The Pushpa 2 business is in the range of RRR which is a testimony of the massive scale of the Pushpa 2 craze. Here are the area-wise business details.

With Ram Charan’s Game Changer being the only next big release, Pushpa 2 will be massively banking on positive word of mouth and long run.
