Kaantha OTT Backfires

0

Dulquer Salmaan believed heavily in the script of Kaantha, and he not only acted as the film’s lead but also produced it. However, his efforts went in vain as the film failed to receive positive responses from audiences and critics. After a poor theatrical performance, Kaantha disappoints upon its OTT debut as well.

Rana Daggubati, who played a crucial role in the film, is also a co-producer for the film. The movie was expected to be one of the classic films even before its release. However, it failed to connect with theatrical audiences and ended up as a box-office failure.

Because of the periodic backdrop and movie shooting backdrop, many expected it to receive a better response in the digital space. But surprisingly, the OTT audiences’ response to Kaantha has been even poorer than the theatrical response, and the film disappoints in both theatrical and digital releases.

This news comes as a disappointment to movie lovers who were eagerly waiting to experience the grand cinematic setup of the new multiplex.

Fans were especially excited to watch Avatar: Fire Ash, releasing on December 19, at the AMB Cinemas Bangalore, but with the postponement of the launch event, they will have to wait longer. The multiplex is now expected to open in January, offering audiences a luxurious movie experience.

Akhanda 2 Special Screening for Narendra Modi

0

Balakrishna and Boyapati Sreenu’s Akhanda 2 is performing decently at the box office despite facing bad word of mouth and the latest news is that the film will be shown to the prime minister of India, Narendra Modi.

Released on December 12, Akhanda 2 did not receive the expected level of positive feedback from its premiere shows. However, despite the mixed initial response, the film managed to collect reasonably good box-office revenues during its first three days.

During the film’s success meet, director Boyapati Srinu revealed that a special screening of Akhanda 2 would be arranged for the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. Recently, the producers hosted the Akhanda 2 success meet, where Boyapati Srinu once again confirmed that Prime Minister Modi would be watching the film through a special screening.

India is like a Library of Dharma, says Akhanda 2 Director Boyapati Sreenu

Speaking at the event, Boyapati Srinu said, “India is like a library of dharma. Dharma is the root and foundation of our nation. Countries that believe in dharma stand differently from those that do not. A human being may win or lose based on their own efforts, but when God decides, there is only victory. The success of this film is proof of that.”

He further added that the film’s success is God’s will and thanked the audience wholeheartedly for their immense support. Boyapati Srinu also mentioned that presenting Akhanda 2 in 3D has been a new experience. Echoing music director Thaman’s words, he said everyone should prosper and emphasized that the Telugu film industry should come together as one. He concluded by stating that a special screening of Akhanda 2 for Prime Minister Narendra Modi would soon be organized in Delhi.

Premante OTT Release Date: Streaming on Netflix

0

Premante, the latest romantic comedy drama starring Priyadarshi and Anandhi in the lead roles, is gearing up for its digital release. Priyadarshi, known for his strong performances, teams up with Anandhi, who has earned a good reputation as a talented actress in both Telugu and Tamil cinema. The film was released in theatres on the 21st of last month but failed to make a strong impact at the box office. However, it is now ready to reach a wider audience through OTT.

Starting from the 19th of this month, Priyadarshi’s ‘Premante’ will be available for streaming on Netflix in multiple languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. The film is directed by Navaneeth Sriram and features a supporting cast that includes popular anchor Suma Kanakala, Vennela Kishore, Hyper Aadi, Abhay Bethiganti, and Surabhi Prabhavathi in key roles.

The story revolves around Madhusudhan, also known as Madhi (played by Priyadarshi), and Ramya (played by Anandhi), a young woman who wants her life to be exciting and thrilling. The two meet at a wedding, fall in love, and eventually get married with the approval of their families. However, complications arise when Ramya discovers that Madhi is a thief. How she reacts to this revelation and the changes it brings to their lives form the rest of the story.

Avatar: Fire and Ash Bookings Disappoint in India

0

James Cameron’s Avatar Part 1 works brilliantly for Indian audiences, which made the anticipation even higher for the next part, which became a massive blockbuster in India as well. However, the third part, Avatar: Fire and Ash’s bookings, are disappointing in India.

Avatar: The Way of Water, which is the second part of the franchise, gathered a massive opening of over 40 Cr net, even though the film did not receive a unanimous positive WOM. It went on to do superb numbers at the box office and collected more than 450 Cr gross in India.

The mixed WOM and result of Avatar 2 seems to have impacted the bookings of Avatar: Fire and Ash in India, which is scheduled for release on 19th December. The advances are shockingly very low for the movie.

At this moment, the opening is likely to be much lower than Avatar 2 unless some big turnaround happens in the last days of bookings. Avatar 3 is crucial for the franchise’s future, with James Cameron planning fourth and fifth installments. If the film doesn’t perform similarly to Part 2 in India, it may struggle to achieve significant box office success.

Padayappa Re-Release Rocks Box Office with Double-Digit Weekend

0

On the occasion of Rajinikanth’s 75th birthday, the sensational industry hit Padayappa was re-released in Tamil territories, and the film saw an excellent opening at the box office, collecting more than 4 Cr gross on Day 1 worldwide.

Normally, most of the re-releases did not perform beyond day 1, but Rajinikanth’s Padayappa showed a good hold on day 2 and collected on par with opening day at the box office, taking 2 days gross to 8 Cr. Today, the film is doing very well, crossing the double-digit mark worldwide. With Karthi’s Vaa Vaathiyaar’s sudden postponement, theater owners faced tough times, but this re-release gives them relief.

Padayappa: One of the Iconic Movies of Tamil Cinema

Padayappa, Narasimha in Telugu (1999) is a landmark Tamil film directed by K. S. Ravikumar, produced by Arunachala Cine Creations, with music composed by A. R. Rahman. The film is celebrated for its powerful storytelling, iconic performances, and memorable soundtrack.

The film stars Rajinikanth as the main character, Padayappa, with Ramya Krishnan portraying the memorable villain Neelambari, and Soundarya in the role of Vasundhara, Padayappa’s love. The late Sivaji Ganesan makes an appearance as Padayappa’s father in what would be one of his last performances.

Mowgli Box Office: Decent Opening

0

Despite opening with unanimous bad WOM and reviews, Mowgli collected well on its first day at the box office by grossing more than 1 Cr. Certainly, it is a decent start for the film. The film stars Roshan Kanakala and Sakshi Mhadolkar as the lead pair.

The brand of the director, Sandeep Raj, and the ticket pricing of 99 Rs fetched some respectable numbers for the film. Normally, when a biggie gets released in competition with a small film, and it opens with negative WOM, it will face difficulties in getting decent numbers, to say the least.

But Mowgli sees a 1 Cr+ opening. Today, the film needs a significant jump at the box office, collecting much more than on opening day to gain traction. While the opening numbers are good for its range, it’s important to keep up the momentum, especially with the presence of negative word-of-mouth.

Harish Shankar Indirectly Flags Thaman’s Drawbacks

0

Director Harish Shankar and music director Thaman have previously worked together on films like Mirapakay and Ramayya Vastavayya. However, comments made by Harish Shankar at the release event of the first song, “Dekhlenge Saala”, from Ustaad Bhagat Singh have now sparked discussions on social media. Many netizens believe that his remarks were indirectly aimed at Thaman.

After the blockbuster Gabbar Singh, actor Pawan Kalyan and director Harish Shankar have reunited for Ustaad Bhagat Singh. The film stars Sreeleela and Raashii Khanna as the female leads and is being produced by Mythri Movie Makers. The shoot, which has been going on for a long time, has finally reached its final stages. The makers are planning to release the film in March or April next year.

As part of the musical promotions, the team recently released the first song, “Dekhlenge Saala,” and held a grand launch event. Speaking at the event, Harish Shankar made some interesting comments.

Did Harish Shankar take a subtle jab at Thaman?

He said, “From ancient times, it has been our tradition to wake up in the morning, offer prayers to the Sun, and begin the day. We start our day by saluting Aditya, the Sun God. I am very happy that we are beginning the promotions of this film with the same energy, purity, and happiness from Aditya University. At this event, there are only two cut-outs, one of Power Star and the other of Rock Star Devi Sri Prasad. Shreyas Media called and said they would put up cut-outs if we sent photos of producers Naveen and Ravi. I clearly told them that only Power Star and Rock Star cut-outs should be there.”

Harish Shankar further added, “We rarely get opportunities to show our respect and love for Devi Sri Prasad garu. This is not about making sacrifices or saying we don’t want our own cut-outs. It is only to express our gratitude and respect towards Devi Sri that we did not put up anyone else’s cut-out here. I am not saying this because he composed music for my film or because he is on stage today. When he was working on the film Anandam, I was not even an assistant director. I came out of the theatre after watching Anandam and prayed to God that at least once in my life, I should work with this music director. God gave me that chance not once, but three times. I sincerely wish for three more opportunities, and three more after that.”

Although Harish Shankar did not mention Thaman by name in his speech, social media users are speculating that the comments were indirectly directed at him. Thaman has often faced criticism regarding improper mixing in songs and background scores. It now remains to be seen whether he will impress listeners with the second song from The Raja Saab, which is set to release soon.

Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu Telugu States Business Details

0

Chiranjeevi and Anil Ravipudi’s first-ever combination film, Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, is all set for a grand theatrical release on January 12, 2026, and the film’s business details in Telugu states are out now.

If we look at Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu’s Telugu States business, in Andhra (6 territories), it did a 55 Cr ratio, with Nizam for 32 Cr and Ceeded for 18 Cr. The total Telugu States pre-release business stands at 105 Cr.

The makers of MSG did reasonable business, and the breakeven will be easy if the movie receives a positive WOM. Because of many films releasing on Sankranthi, all film businesses have been affected a bit.

If Chiranjeevi and Anil Ravipudi’s film gets a positive response, then the trade expects it to achieve the breakeven within the first week itself.
