L2: Empuraan receives disaster response on OTT

The Mohanlal starrer L2: Empuraan arrived on OTT yesterday after a blockbuster performance at the box office. The film riding high with the hype of being the sequel to Lucifer added great numbers on the opening day, but the word of mouth impacted its prospects later. However, it became an Industry hit in Mollywood but failed miserably in other languages box office. Now, it received the same response on the OTT platform as well.

L2: Empuraan streamed on JioHostar in all South Indian languages and the reception is disastrous. This is surely a shock to the team. The team expected it to perform well to continue the franchise with the third part. So, with this shocking reception making another film in the franchise with heavy budget will be very risky.

L2: Empuraan suffered before the release with the same issue when Lyca Productions moved away from the project. The film attracted criticism for a depiction of few scenes which were also removed later. The film was also impacted by this criticism in the box office figures. So, the same result on the OTT platform is also disappointing for the team.

Good Bad Ugly Box Office numbers: Difference between trade and distributors

Good Bad Ugly starring Ajith did well at the box office recently and emerged as Ajith’s biggest grosser in all the territories. In Tamil Nadu, as per the trade, the film collected close to 150 crores, but the distributor has officially announced that the film has collected 172 crores gross. So, in Tamil Nadu, there has been around a 15-20% difference in collections between trade and distributor figures.

This usually happens for most of the films in the difference between the Production House numbers and the Trade numbers. But for Good Bad Ugly more was expected. Besides, Ajith being a Star hero in Kollywood and his film unable to join the 350 crores and 400 crores club is very disappointing.

Good Bad Ugly got stuck only at 250 crores, which means Ajith still has to perform a lot to reach the 300 crore mark worldwide. Meanwhile, Vijay and Rajinikanth have already touched the 600 crores mark worldwide, showcasing their potential.

After a huge success like Court, actor Priyadarshi arrives with Sarangapani Jathakam. Also starring young actress Roopa in a lead role, the Indraganti Mohana Krishna directorial is produced by Sivalenka Krishna Prasad and it has been released in theaters today, i.e., April 25.

Story:

Sarangapani Jathakam centers on Saranga, portrayed by Priyadarshi, who has believed in horoscope since he was young. He gets engaged to Maithili (Roopa Koduvayur), his love, but his belief in astrology complicates their relationship. The rest of the story is how Saranga learns the consequences of his superstitions and ultimately frees himself.

Performances:

Priyadarshi stars as Saranga and delivers a notable performance. He performs impressively and tries to stand out. Roopa Koduvayur stars as the female lead in the film. Even though she plays a key part, the character appears short because of the writing. She did fine in her role. Naresh’s role is unimportant and poorly executed. Vadlamani Srinivas fits perfectly as the hero’s father and makes an impact. Vennela Kishore, and Viva Harsha provide a few laughs, while Avasarala Srinivas, Tanikella Bharani, and others are just okay.

Analysis:

Sarangapani Jathakam is written and directed by Mohanakrishna Indraganti. The film starts by showcasing the protagonist’s firm belief in astrology, setting the tone. A A crime twist adds humor to the superstition, promising a funny story ahead. While Priyadarshi and Vennela Kishore bring laughs after the crime angle arrives, the following parts lack impact. The ‘Bamma death sequence’ in the first half is quite ridiculous. Moreover, the pre interval episode relating the character”Simon” and a perfume is a complete misfire and unconvincing considering the hero’s situation. The latter part is set against the backdrop of a Vizag hotel. The attempt to deliver comedy errors scenes works for a while with Priyadarshi, Viva Harsha and Vennela Kishore’s comedy timing. The twist near the climax disappoints, and the emotional touch involving the love track could have been stronger.

Allu Arjun’s pan-Indian blockbuster Pushpa 2 created many records at the box office. The film had a superb long run at the theaters, and the same impact was expected upon its arrival on TV. However, Pushpa 2 fails to beat Sankranthiki Vasthunam on television.

Pushpa 2’s Television Premiere Rating Fails to Beat Sankranthiki Vasthunam

Venkatesh and Anil Ravipudi’s Sankranthiki Vasthunam delivered 15.92 TRP on its television premiere, which was the best premiere rating among recent releases. Pushpa 2, which premiered a few days back on television, was expected to break Sankranthiki Vasthunam’s record, but it failed to do so. 

Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 fails to beat Sankranthiki Vasthunam on television, but it delivers very good ratings if we compare it with other big Telugu films. Pushpa 2 registered 12.61 TRP, and it could have crossed Sankranthiki Vasthunnam at a normal time.

But, due to the IPL season, the film’s TV premiere did not get the required viewership, and at the same time, Sankranthiki Vasthunam was telecasted for the 2nd time, which delivered 5.96 TRP.

అయితే తాజాగా కాశ్మీర్ పహల్గాంలో జరిగిన ఉగ్రదాడి నేపధ్యలో పాకిస్థానీ నటీ నటులు భారతీయ చిత్రాల్లో నటించడం పై పలువురు ప్రజలు ఆగ్రహం వ్యక్తం చేస్తూ సోషల్ మీడియాలో కామెంట్స్ చేస్తున్నారు. కాగా ప్రభాస్ హను మూవీలో చేస్తున్న ఇమాన్వి ఒక పాకిస్థానీ అమ్మాయి అని, ఆమెను సినిమా నుండి తీసివేయాలని పలువురు పోస్టులు పెడుతున్నారు.
