Mohanlal‘s Drishyam 3 has created several records since its theatrical release at the box office, becoming the second fastest film from the Malayalam film industry to join the ₹200 crore grossers club worldwide.

The franchise thriller achieved the milestone in just 9 days, trailing only Empuraan, which set the benchmark by reaching ₹200 crore in a record 5 days. The achievement places Drishyam 3 ahead of recent blockbusters like Lokah (13 days) and Vaazha 2 (17 days).

Mohanlal’s Box Office Dominance Continues

The milestone holds added significance as Mohanlal has three films in this elite ₹200 crore club. With Empuraan and Drishyam 3 both featuring among the fastest films to achieve the feat, the superstar’s box office pull remains unmatched in Malayalam cinema.

Franchise Factor Drives Blockbuster Success

Drishyam 3 opened to mixed reviews from a section of critics on day one, but the franchise’s established fan base and Mohanlal’s massive stardom powered it to solid blockbuster status. The film’s performance demonstrates how strong franchises can overcome initial critical reception through audience goodwill and star power.

The Drishyam franchise has consistently delivered at the box office, with each installment building on the previous film’s success. The third chapter’s rapid acceleration to ₹200 crore underscores both the franchise’s strength and Malayalam cinema’s growing box office potential.

Karuppu Crosses ₹300 Crore: Makers’ Official Figures

0

The Karuppu makers have officially announced that the film has crossed the ₹300 crore mark at the worldwide box office, marking a major milestone for the Suriya starrer.

However, according to Track Tollywood and other box office tracking portals, the film’s worldwide gross, including today’s collections, is estimated to be around ₹275 crore—a difference of approximately ₹25 crore from the official figures.

Makers’ Figures vs Trade Tracking Numbers

The variation in collection figures is primarily coming from the Tamil Nadu circuit, where the Karuppu makers had already declared that the film crossed the ₹150 crore mark. Trade tracking websites, however, report slightly lower numbers for the territory.

Makers (Official)₹300 Crore+₹150 Crore+
Trade Tracking~₹275 CroreSlightly Lower

This difference between producers’ figures and trade tracking numbers is quite common in the industry and has been the case with almost every major film. Production houses often include certain revenue streams or use different calculation methods compared to independent trade analysts.

Regardless of the exact figures, Karuppu remains a sensational blockbuster. The mass superhero entertainer has delivered a massive comeback for Suriya, reaffirming his box office pull.

Jagapathi Babu on Pushpa 2 Role Cut and Pushpa 3 Plans

0

During the promotions of Peddi, veteran actor Jagapathi Babu spoke openly about his role in Pushpa 2 and shared insights into how the film’s extended runtime led to creative changes. The actor revealed details about the split between Pushpa 2 and Pushpa 3, and expressed his admiration for director Sukumar.

Pushpa 2 Role Shortened Due to Runtime

Talking about Pushpa 2, Jagapathi Babu revealed that his character was reduced because of the film’s lengthy runtime. He explained that Pushpa 2 and Pushpa 3 were originally planned as one complete story, but the makers later decided to split it into two parts.

“My character got shortened because of the film’s length. Initially, Pushpa Part 2 and Part 3 were one complete story. Since the runtime became too long, they split it into two films. I will be seen in the third part, and this time, I’ll even have to go bald for the make-up,” he shared.

No Disappointment, Only Respect for Sukumar

The actor made it clear that he holds no disappointment towards director Sukumar. He praised the filmmaker and emphasized that creative decisions should never be questioned by actors.

“We should never put pressure on a director’s creativity. I can never point fingers at Sukumar garu. He has always supported me and never treated me unfairly. Even after Pushpa 2, he personally told me that things did not go as planned and promised to compensate for it in the third part. That is enough for me,” Jagapathi Babu stated.

He added that he never interferes with a director’s vision and deeply respects filmmakers for their unique thought process.

“I would never disturb a director’s thinking or force my expectations onto him. Directors are different people altogether — almost like saints. Their thought process works on another level,” he said.

High Confidence on Peddi

Speaking about Peddi, Jagapathi Babu sounded extremely confident about the film’s success. The actor revealed that he has landed a powerful role in the movie and believes it will strike big at the box office.

“This is a very good film, and I got an excellent role in it. I am confident that Peddi will become a huge blockbuster,” he said, adding that he remains passionate about acting and loves to stay busy with work.

Hyderabad’s AMB Classic IMAX: India’s 2nd Biggest Screen

0

Movie lovers in Hyderabad have something big to celebrate. AMB Classic IMAX, the much-awaited multiplex project by superstar Mahesh Babu and Asian Group chairman Suniel Narang, is bringing a premium IMAX screen to RTC Cross Roads, ending the city’s decade-long wait for a true large-format cinema experience.

India’s Second-Largest IMAX Screen

In a recent interview, Suniel Narang confirmed that AMB Classic IMAX will house India’s second-largest IMAX screen. The iconic Sudarshan 70 MM theatre at RTC Cross Roads is being transformed into a licensed IMAX venue, marking Hyderabad’s grand return to premium theatrical experiences.

This development follows months of speculation after IMAX Vice President's Hyderabad visit earlier this year sparked excitement among cinema enthusiasts about IMAX’s potential return to the city.

Star-Studded Partnership

The AMB Classic multiplex represents a collaboration between some of Telugu cinema’s biggest names. While Mahesh Babu and Suniel Narang are leading the project, industry sources suggest that actors Venkatesh and Rana Daggubati are also expected to join as partners.

This high-profile partnership underscores the ambition behind bringing world-class cinema infrastructure to Hyderabad.

Filling Hyderabad’s IMAX Gap

Hyderabad has been without an IMAX screen for over a decade, even as cities like Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru expanded their premium theatre offerings. IMAX technology delivers significantly larger screens, enhanced sound systems, and an immersive viewing experience that standard theatres cannot match.

For a city that produces hundreds of films annually and has a passionate moviegoing culture, the absence of IMAX has been a notable gap. Fans are already counting down to experiencing upcoming releases like Varanasi on the massive screen format Hyderabad has long deserved.

The AMB Classic IMAX at RTC Cross Roads promises to set a new benchmark for premium cinema experiences in South India.

Delhi High Court Grants Naga Chaitanya Personality Rights Protection

0

Actor Akkineni Naga Chaitanya has secured legal protection for his personality rights from the Delhi High Court, following in the footsteps of his father, Akkineni Nagarjuna. The court issued interim orders in his favor and directed authorities to ensure protection against unauthorized use of his identity.

Court Directs Protection Against Digital Misuse

The bench headed by Justice Jyoti Singh heard the case and issued notices to the concerned digital platforms and other respondents involved in the matter.

Senior advocate Vaibhav Gaggar informed the court that Naga Chaitanya’s name, photographs, and identity were being misused on obscene websites and several digital platforms without his consent. The petition also highlighted the illegal sale of unauthorized merchandise featuring the actor’s likeness, along with the rampant circulation of AI-generated content using his image online.

The Delhi High Court strongly reacted to posts and online content that allegedly harmed Naga Chaitanya’s personal life and reputation. Taking the matter seriously, the court directed that the actor’s name, voice, and photographs should not be used without his permission and granted him appropriate interim protection.

Part of Growing Industry Trend

Naga Chaitanya joins several Telugu and South Indian stars who have sought similar legal protection in recent months. Allu Arjun received a legal shield from the Delhi High Court in April against deepfakes and unauthorized use, while NTR secured personality rights protection in January.

The surge in such cases reflects growing concerns about AI-generated content, deepfakes, and unauthorized commercial exploitation of celebrity identities in the digital era. Personality rights protect individuals from unauthorized commercial use of their name, image, voice, and other identifying characteristics.
