0

Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra became the 1st 300 Cr grosser from Mollywood, and the film has almost ended its run at the box office, and it is all set to have its OTT release this week, according to the reports.

The film’s digital rights have been bought by Jio Hotstar for all languages, but the official announcement has not yet been made by the OTT platform. There are two buzzes about Lokah’s OTT streaming date.

Buzz around Lokah OTT Release

One report is that the film will stream from 17th October in all languages, while another buzz is that Kalyani Priyadarshan’s female superhero film will hit OTT next week, post Diwali.

The film will certainly attract a lot of attention from audiences across languages, and it will be beneficial for the other films coming from the franchise in the coming years.

Kantara Chapter 1 Crosses 50 Cr in Tamil Nadu, Beats Idli Kadai

0

Kantara Chapter 1 has performed superbly in Tamil Nadu right from day 1, as it becomes the first preference for Tamil audiences, and it impacts Dhanush’s Idli Kadai massively. Now, Rishab Shetty’s film crosses 50 Cr in Tamil Nadu.

Acted and directed by Dhanush, Idli Kadai has collected around 47 Cr gross in Tamil Nadu, whereas Kantara Chapter 1 crosses the 50 Cr mark.

Idli kadai may not get much bigger from now on, and it is likely to close under 55 Cr, while Kantara Chapter 1 is holding strong in Tamil Nadu, but it will face crazy films like Dude and Bison releasing for Diwali.

Now we need to wait and see how the Kantara prequel does in the theaters this weekend, but definitely, if the movie holds a good screen count, it can do over 70 Cr gross in Tamil Nadu in its full run.

OG OTT Release Date Out: Post-Diwali Treat

0

“They Call Him OG,” directed by Sujeeth, is the biggest grosser for Pawan Kalyan, with close to 300 Cr gross worldwide. The latest news is that OG will be arriving on OTT on October 23 on Netflix in all languages.

The film’s OTT response is very crucial for the makers, especially from other languages, mainly Hindi, as it has announced the sequel and prequel. The film has a chance to reach bigger audiences in the digital space.

If the response to the OG OTT release is positive, then the team can put on a big budget for the sequel and prequel and make them on a big scale.

Released on September 25th, the film opened to massive collections on the opening day, and with the help of decent/average reviews, it did not continue the momentum but had a good long run at the box office.

Kantara Chapter 1 Overseas Box Office: 11 Days Area Wise Details

0

Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 has broken many records at the box office in its theatrical run of 11 days, but the film’s overseas box office is a bit underwhelming for the pre-release expectations.

Kantara Chapter 1 Area-Wise Overseas Collections For 11 Days

  • North America $4.1M
  • Middle East $3.7M
  • Australia $0.96M
  • UK Ireland $0.85M
  • Malaysia $0.37M
  • Singapore $0.18M
  • Germany $0.19M
  • Newzealand $0.08M
  • RestOf World $0.36M
  • Total $10.8M -₹95.7 Crores

Kantara Chapter 1 needs to collect more than $15M to break even overseas. The film has to perform much bigger in the coming days to reach the target.

Surprisingly, the movie performed well in other overseas territories except North America, where the weak Hindi numbers are not at expected levels. The underperformance has affected its overall numbers.

Coming to India’s performance, the Kantara prequel can utilize the Diwali advantage in the next week to boost its collections.

The Magic of 9 in Tollywood

0

In the film industry, there are certain sentiments that the filmmakers or heroes follow compulsorily. The ‘9’ sentiment is continuously going around in Tollywood business circles. Whenever the makers quote or distributors offer prices, they aim to bring the total count to 9.

For example, Chiranjeevi’s film, Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu Andhra, has a ratio of ₹63 Cr → 6 + 3 = 9, while Balakrishna’s Akhanda 2 Andhra has a ratio of ₹54 Cr → 5 + 4 = 9.

Not only for business, but also for other things, such as promotions, the Tollywood producers or movie follow the 9 sentiments.

Which is why, if you observe, almost all updates of Telugu movies, be they big movies or small movies, come at 4:05 PM, 5:04 PM, 11:07 AM, 6:03 PM, or something like that.

As far as the cinegoers remember, this particular sentiment got popular with the ultimate Sankranthi-2020 clash between Mahesh Babu’s Sarileru Neekevvaru and Allu Arjun’s Ala Vaikunthapuramulo.

Yellamma Faces Back-to-Back Exits

0

Popular comedian Venu became a director with Balagam and received a unanimous positive reception. He signed his next film under his first film’s producer, Dil Raju. Titled Yellamma, the film faces back-to-back exits of heroes.

Reportedly, much like Balagam, Venu Yeldandi penned a rooted story with his second film, Yellamma, which was initially planned with Nani and even officially announced, but due to continuous commitments of the actor, such as The Paradise and Sujeeth’s film, Nani exited from this project.

Venu’s Journey with Yellamma’s Leads: Nani-Nithin and now Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas

Also, it was said that Nani only suggested Nithin to do the film, and it was almost set to go on the floors, but Nithin is not doing this project due to the budget and other reasons.

Now there is news that Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas is selected as the hero by the team, and we have to wait till the official confirmation comes and see whether Yellamma gets a hero after back-to-back exits

Chiranjeevi Still a Step Ahead of Balakrishna

0

Chiranjeevi retired as a no. 1 hero for Tollywood before joining politics, and even after the comeback, he started his second journey with the Non-Baahubali Industry Hit Khaidi No. 150. However, he could not catch up with the present top heroes thereafter, but still, Chiranjeevi is a step ahead of Balakrishna.

After Khaidi No. 150, Chiru could not win the race with this generation of heroes as they went towards pan-India markets, and most of them grabbed that big market as well.

At the same time, Chiranjeevi had a mixed journey at the box office in recent years, and his last film, Bhola Shankar, was a colossal disaster, whereas his competitor Balakrishna has had a golden phase at the box office.

Chiranjeevi’s Film does more business than Balakrishna’s Film

But even at this phase, Chiranjeevi is a step ahead of Balakrishna in terms of business. Balakrishna’s next film, Akhanda 2, is having a record business in his career. The total worldwide theatrical rights are likely to be around 130 Cr.

Coming to Chiranjeevi’s Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, the film’s business is much more than Balakrishna and Boyapati Sreenu’s crazy sequel, and the film is expected to close at around 165 Cr, which is 25% higher than Akhanda 2.

We need to wait and see to know which film can collect more in the two movies, but after the comeback, Chiranjeevi could not become the no. 1 hero, he is still competing with his peers.

Dasara Quiet, Diwali Hope for Akhanda 2

0

Akhanda 2 is the next biggie from Tollywood, slated for a 5th December release. Until now, the film’s unit released a short glimpse on Balakrishna’s birthday; after that, there has been no update.

Fans expected a teaser or first single on Dasara, but the makers just released a poster, which disappointed them a lot.

Now, the fans and audiences are also expecting an update from Akhanda 2 for Diwali. There is buzz that the first single might arrive for this Diwali, and definitely the team has to come up with some update, as it is less than 2 months until the film’s release.

The Akhanda sequel’s team is also planning for a pan-India release, so the film needs to release promotional content continuously to bring the craze among audiences.
