Paradha Movie Review: A Little Drawn Out But Sincere Journey

0

Movie Name: Paradha
Rating: 2.75/5
Cast:
Anupama Parameswaran, Darshana Rajendran, Sangitha Krish, Rag Mayur, and Others
Director: Praveen Kandregula
Produced By:
Ananda Media
Release Date: 14th August 2025

Praveen Kandregula directs Paradha with a cast that includes Anupama Parameswaran, Darshana Rajendran, and Sangitha Krish. The movie got a positive reaction for its paid premieres. Let’s uncover what it holds in our review.

Story:

Paradha revolves around a long-standing custom linked to Goddess Jwalamma in a village called Padathi, and taking it off is thought to invite a curse. Subbu (Anupama Parameswaran) gets into a tough spot when a photographer snaps her without a paradha. The film shows how superstition endangers her life and how she fights it to liberate the village women.

Performances:

Anupama Parameswaran gets a meaty role in Paradha and impresses with her performance. She could have made an everlasting impact if the writing provided more chances to excel. Darshana Rajendran shines as Ami, bringing vibrant energy to the screen.

Sangitha plays the heroine’s aunt convincingly, matching her performance to the character and setting. Harsha Vardhan effectively portrays Sangeetha’s husband. Rag Mayur does alright, but the father’s character should have been stronger

Analysis:

Director Praveen Kandregula tries a new and forward-thinking concept with Paradha. The movie begins with a captivating idea. The setting of the village goddess Jwalamma is captivating and brings a sense of mystery.

Leading up to the interval, we see Subbu, played by Anupama Parameswaran, getting tangled up in an unexpected danger while grappling with the overwhelming pressure of tradition that endangers her life.

The second half of the movie sticks to its plot, but it gets a bit dull since it does not really amp up the key moments. The friendship of Ami and Subbu has a good journey, but the bonding between them should have been more explored. How the side characters, such as a small role by Rajendra Prasad, and his short story about freedom relate to the life of Subbu should have been connected well.

But the film still grabs your attention with a few standout moments, especially Subbu’s realization moment and the insightful discussion she has with Sangeeta and Darshana. These blocks are well-made and keep the flow going.

Praveen Kandregula pulls off the climax of Paradha well, but it might have benefited from higher dramatic setup to hit harder emotionally.

Positives:

  • Honest Intent
  • Powerful Dialogues/Scenes
  • Performances

Negatives:

  • Some Dull Parts In The Latter Half
  • A Few Crucial Scenes Mishandled
  • Fails To Take The Lead Character To Next Level

Paradha Movie Review and Verdict:

Praveen Kandregula’s Paradha gives a simple yet powerful take on the theme of women’s empowerment. The first half is perfect, and the second half is good too, though some parts drag a bit and some scenes miss the intended effect. It can be watched for its good intent/thought-provoking scenes, and the natural performances of Anupama Parameswaran, Darshana, and Sangeetha.

War 2 vs Coolie: 8-Day Box Office Battle

0

With no notable releases this week, the box office clash of War 2 and Coolie has once again taken center stage. Here are the details of the 8-day collections of both movies.

Coolie’s 1st extended week (8 days) worldwide gross stands at 435 Cr. The film needs 40 Cr+ in its 2nd weekend to join the 500 Cr club.

While the breakeven is at 600 Cr, it is unreachable for the action drama, and the buyers hope for a big second weekend to increase their recovery.

Hrithik Roshan and NTR’s War 2’s extended 1st week (8 days) worldwide gross stands at approximately 302 Cr, marking NTR’s hat-trick 300 Cr film.

The film requires a strong 2nd weekend to cross the 350 Cr mark in its full run. The breakeven figure is valued at 700 Cr, and the film just did 50% of valued business numbers, turning out to be an outright failure.

War 2 and Coolie were released with massive expectations. But sadly, both films did not do justice regarding their box office performance.

Stalin 4K Turns Out a Massive Flop

0

The re-release trend in the Telugu film industry has become a norm, but all movies are not getting a big response. Chiranjeevi’s Stalin 4K turns out to be a massive flop.

On the occasion of Megastar Chiranjeevi’s birthday, fans re-released Stalin, but the response is disastrous.

The audiences have shown no interest at all in watching the movie. Only a few shows had good occupancy, and there was no demand for additional shows.

Many shows were canceled even before they started because of the lack of audience. It was expected, as the announcement of the re-release itself did not bring excitement among the mega fans.

Directed by AR Murugadoss, Stalin was initially released in theaters in 2006, and it was an average fare at the box office. However, upon its re-release, the film becomes an outright failure.

Star Combos Dead After War 2

0

The combination of NTR and Hrithik Roshan for War 2 excited everyone. This biggie was expected to pave the way for more such combos from North and South. However, the disastrous result of War 2 made the star combos dead.

With Tollywood stars expanding their market to all corners of Indian and global audiences. The Hindi stars and production houses started to approach Telugu stars for their franchise films or big films.

Prabhas’s Adipurush was planned in that way, which became a disaster. After a few years, with War 2, YRF brought Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan and Telugu big star NTR. Everyone was excited with this massive collaboration and hoped that its success will make a big path for many such collaborations in the near future.

But after War 2’s release, everything got changed, especially the film, which received a unanimous bad response from Telugu audiences.

So, with this, the Telugu stars, including Tier-2 heroes, are reportedly directly rejecting the Bollywood offers and collaborations. All the expected star combos are now gone in the air after War 2.

The makers of big Hindi films like Don 3, Dhoom 4, and a few more approached the Tollywood stars, but the stars rejected them without any hesitation, as they do not want to lose Telugu audiences for the sake of the Bollywood market after seeing the result of films like Adipurush and now War 2.

Karthi Agrees: Kaithi 2 Postponed

0

Kaithi 2, the most awaited movie for the Tamil audiences, was supposed to start at this year’s end and is facing delay again. The latest news is that actor Karthi has agreed to postpone the film for Lokesh Kanagaraj’s film with Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan.

According to the reports, the Awara actor had already allotted dates from this year-end for this sequel and did not commit to any films in that time period.

However, everything got changed after Coolie’s release, as Lokesh Kanagaraj, Kamal Haasan, and Rajinikanth—all three—decided to do a big multi-starrer project.

Karthi Gives Green Signal For Kaithi 2 Shoot Postponement

With this, the second part of Kaidhi gets pushed back, and it will take at least another 2 years to go on floors.

Reportedly, Lokesh and Kamal had discussed this with Karthi, and the actor supported them on this and stated that there will be no issue from his side about Kaithi 2 getting postponed.

Meanwhile, Karthi is in discussions with other directors to start new projects from December. Currently, he is busy with the Marshal Project, while Sardaar 2 and Vaa Vaathiyar are also yet to be released.

Ram, Why This Huge Risk?

0

Hero Ram is seeing a bad phase in his career with continuous failures, and he is coming up with a crazy project titled Andhra King Taluka. The film’s release date was announced a while ago, and Ram is taking a huge risk with it.

Andhra King Taluka’s teaser and first single have received a very good response from audiences, and everyone expects that the film will bring Ram Pothineni back onto the success track.

Andhra King Taluka: A Risky Release Date

The makers announced that the movie will be released on 28th November, and there are no special holidays in this week, and at the same time, within one week, a biggie like Raja Saab’s release date was officially announced.

Even if The Raja Saab does not arrive on the said date, then Akhanda 2 will take that slot. Releasing a film off-season without holidays and a biggie next week is definitely a huge risk, and even Ram’s fans are also worried about the result of Andhra King Taluka.

Vishwambhara Glimpse: Decent But Not enough

0

Everyone has been excited about Chiranjeevi’s Vishwambhara’s glimpse/Mega Blast since the makers announced it. The teaser is decent, but the question is, is it enough to create the hype among audiences?

Directed by Vassishta Mallidi, the second glimpse of this fantasy entertainer was released a while ago as an advance gift for fans on the Megastar’s birthday.

Vishwambhara’s Mega Blast reveals a merciless villain instilling fear, making people pray for a hero. Chiranjeevi is shown in a big action scene. The CG work involving the shots of the scorpion and Chiru’s eye is good.

Mega Blast Glimpse – Vishwambhara

The team played it safe by releasing a dialogue teaser with minimal VFX shots, and the output is good. But for Vishwambhara, the main USP is the visuals and grandeur. People are eagerly waiting to see all the beautiful worlds the team has created which they still have not revealed.

MM Keeravani’s background music could have been better, and the voice-over dialogues by Ayyappa Sharma are also not clear. The fans will certainly enjoy the last shot of the glimpse.

Vishwambhara will release in theaters in Telugu, Hindi, and Tamil in Summer 2026.

An unexpected event unites them as their marriage appears to be ending, forcing them to face deeper issues.
