Theatre Owners Refuse to Replace OG and Kantara Chapter 1

0

In the Telugu states, both OG and Kantara Chapter 1 are the recent big releases that are still performing decently at the box office. However, many theatre owners are yet to recover their investments, as both films are still below the breakeven point. Since they invested heavily, theatre owners are not showing much interest in replacing these films with the upcoming Diwali releases or removing OG and Kantara Chapter 1 from screens.

They believe this Diwali will bring a long weekend, which could help OG and Kantara Chapter 1 improve their collections compared to the previous weekends. Moreover, since most of the Diwali releases are small to medium-budget films, theatre owners expect these two films to continue getting better occupancies during the festival.

Due to these calculations, producers and distributors are now facing tough challenges in securing a large number of screens. With four new films arriving this Diwali, all backed by top production houses, getting a good screen count has become a difficult task. A film with strong content will definitely perform well, but every team is aiming for a wide release during the festive season to ensure big collections, irrespective of the talk.

Kantara Chapter 1 Joins 100 Cr Overseas Club

0

Kantara Chapter 1 is holding strong at the box office across all languages. On its 13th day, the film has joined the 100 Cr club in overseas markets. North America and Gulf regions have been the major contributors to this success. All language versions overseas have performed well, with the Kannada version even surpassing KGF 2’s performance. However, the Hindi version’s numbers are highly disappointing. If the Hindi version had performed well, the film could have easily reached around ₹130 Cr in overseas collections by now.

In terms of business valuation, the film needs to collect close to ₹140 Cr gross to cover all expenses, but breakeven has not yet been achieved, as the movie currently stands at ₹100 Cr.

Overall, by today, the film’s worldwide gross is nearing ₹650 Cr, and it is on track to aim for the ₹800 Cr milestone in its full run.

Pawan Kalyan Fans Angry at the OG US Distributor

0

Pawan Kalyan’s OG almost ended its run at the US box office. The film has collected more than 5.5 million in North America. The film’s revenue in Canada could have been much higher, but due to issues between the distributor and Canada’s main theatre chain, York Cinemas, the film was not released there, which impacted the numbers

York Cinemas claimed that box office manipulation was happening continuously, so they refused to screen the film. Meanwhile, the distributor countered, saying that York Cinemas is a mafia-like entity that always blackmails, so they won’t release any films there.

Immediately after the completion of OG’s run, the distributor announced that all issues have been sorted out and that the film will release in York Cinemas.

This upset fans, as OG’s numbers could have been much higher if it had a release in York Cinemas. Fans expressed their frustration, saying that these distributors twist their words at any time for business.

Tamil Fans Overaction! Blind Support for Murugadoss Against Salman Khan

0

AR Murugadoss is the one who started an unnecessary battle against Salman Khan with his degrading comments.During the Madharaasi promotions, while talking about Sikindar’s failure, Murugadoss completely blamed Salman Khan but didn’t admit his own weaknesses in screenplay and execution.

He said, “It’s not easy to shoot with Salman Khan. Even for day scenes, we had to shoot at night because he would arrive on set only after 8 PM. We are used to starting early in the mornings, but that’s not how things worked there. If a scene involved four kids, we had to shoot with them at 2 AM, even if it was supposed to be a shot of them returning from school. By then, they were already tired and often dozed off.”

But clearly, such terms could have been discussed before going on set for any film. If that terms didn’t work for him, Murugadoss could have simply said it wouldn’t suit them. Why did he proceed with the film while even putting Madharaasi on hold? Sikindar failed mainly due to poor screenplay and writing. He could have spoken about issues like story changes or creative freedom, but instead, he passed comments that directly degraded the hero

Naturally, anyone would be hurt in such a situation, and Salman Khan hit back. He countered, “Yes, I used to arrive on set around 9 PM, which caused some issues, but my rib was broken at that time. Initially, the film belonged to AR Murugadoss and Sajid Nadiadwala, but later Sajid left, and Murugadoss also stepped away to work on a South film.”

Recently, Murugadoss’s other film Madharaasi released, where the actor used to arrive on sets by 6 AM. It’s a much bigger film — and an even bigger blockbuster — than Sikindar.

After all this, many Tamil fans are endorsing Murugadoss and blindly targeting Salman Khan, completely missing the logic of who actually started this battle — and who made the first degrading comments.

The film, produced by Vels Film International, also brings together Chiyaan Vikram and lyricist-turned-director Vishnu Edavan for the very first time. Reportedly, it is a big-budget film, and the other cast details are expected to be revealed soon.

Anirudh Ravichander is known for elevating the heroes and movies with his electrifying music, and the fans expect the same for Chiyaan 64.

Sankranthiki Vasthunam, starring Venkatesh and directed by Anil Ravipudi, was released this year in January, and the massive blockbuster is all set to go to Bollywood, as Akshay Kumar is set to remake it.

There has been a big buzz for a few days that the Bollywood star Akshay Kumar will play the role of Venkatesh in Sankranthiki Vasthunam’s Bollywood remake, and it will be directed by Anees Bazmee.

Reportedly, the discussions are ongoing to finalize the two female leads, along with other cast and crew members, and the details are expected to be revealed soon.

Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra became the 1st 300 Cr grosser from Mollywood, and the film has almost ended its run at the box office, and it is all set to have its OTT release this week, according to the reports.

The film’s digital rights have been bought by Jio Hotstar for all languages, but the official announcement has not yet been made by the OTT platform. There are two buzzes about Lokah’s OTT streaming date.

Buzz around Lokah OTT Release

One report is that the film will stream from 17th October in all languages, while another buzz is that Kalyani Priyadarshan’s female superhero film will hit OTT next week, post Diwali.

The film will certainly attract a lot of attention from audiences across languages, and it will be beneficial for the other films coming from the franchise in the coming years.

Kantara Chapter 1 Crosses 50 Cr in Tamil Nadu, Beats Idli Kadai

0

Kantara Chapter 1 has performed superbly in Tamil Nadu right from day 1, as it becomes the first preference for Tamil audiences, and it impacts Dhanush’s Idli Kadai massively. Now, Rishab Shetty’s film crosses 50 Cr in Tamil Nadu.

Acted and directed by Dhanush, Idli Kadai has collected around 47 Cr gross in Tamil Nadu, whereas Kantara Chapter 1 crosses the 50 Cr mark.

Idli kadai may not get much bigger from now on, and it is likely to close under 55 Cr, while Kantara Chapter 1 is holding strong in Tamil Nadu, but it will face crazy films like Dude and Bison releasing for Diwali.

Now we need to wait and see how the Kantara prequel does in the theaters this weekend, but definitely, if the movie holds a good screen count, it can do over 70 Cr gross in Tamil Nadu in its full run.

OG OTT Release Date Out: Post-Diwali Treat

0

“They Call Him OG,” directed by Sujeeth, is the biggest grosser for Pawan Kalyan, with close to 300 Cr gross worldwide. The latest news is that OG will be arriving on OTT on October 23 on Netflix in all languages.

The film’s OTT response is very crucial for the makers, especially from other languages, mainly Hindi, as it has announced the sequel and prequel. The film has a chance to reach bigger audiences in the digital space.

If the response to the OG OTT release is positive, then the team can put on a big budget for the sequel and prequel and make them on a big scale.

Released on September 25th, the film opened to massive collections on the opening day, and with the help of decent/average reviews, it did not continue the momentum but had a good long run at the box office.

Kantara Chapter 1 Overseas Box Office: 11 Days Area Wise Details

0

Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 has broken many records at the box office in its theatrical run of 11 days, but the film’s overseas box office is a bit underwhelming for the pre-release expectations.

Kantara Chapter 1 Area-Wise Overseas Collections For 11 Days

  • North America $4.1M
  • Middle East $3.7M
  • Australia $0.96M
  • UK Ireland $0.85M
  • Malaysia $0.37M
  • Singapore $0.18M
  • Germany $0.19M
  • Newzealand $0.08M
  • RestOf World $0.36M
  • Total $10.8M -₹95.7 Crores

Kantara Chapter 1 needs to collect more than $15M to break even overseas. The film has to perform much bigger in the coming days to reach the target.

Surprisingly, the movie performed well in other overseas territories except North America, where the weak Hindi numbers are not at expected levels. The underperformance has affected its overall numbers.

Coming to India’s performance, the Kantara prequel can utilize the Diwali advantage in the next week to boost its collections.
