After a gap of over a decade, the veteran director is returning with Sing-Geetham, a project that promises to showcase his trademark storytelling brilliance once again.

According to reports, this film represents a long-cherished dream that the filmmaker is finally bringing to life with the support of producer Nag Ashwin.

About the Film and Teaser

Gaayapadda Simham Review: A Pointless Ride

0
Movie Name Gaayapadda Simham
Rating 2/5
Cast Tharun Bhascker, Faria Abdullah, Sree Vishnu, J.D. Chakravarthy, Maanasa Choudhary
Director Kasyap Sreenivas
Produced By Kalyana Chakravarthy Manthina, Bhanu Pratapa, Vijay Krishna Lingamaneni, and Umesh Kumar Bansal
Release Date 1st May, 2026

Gaayapadda Simham is a comedic satire released on May 1, 2026, featuring Tharun Bhascker and JD Chakravarthy. Directed by Kasyap Sreenivas, the story revolves around a young man who is sent back from the US and seeks revenge on Donald Trump. The film secured ₹15 Cr in pre-release business before hitting screens. Let us find out how the film fares in this Gaayapadda Simham review.

Story

The story of Gaayapadda Simham revolves around Darahas (Tharun Bhascker) who goes to Dallas but gets deported back to India due to certain circumstances. What follows is his plan to take revenge on Trump, and in the process, how his revenge plot involves a criminal and the police forms the rest of the story.

Performances

Tharun Bhascker plays the lead role but his character does not provide him any scope or impact. J.D. Chakravarthy could not do much because of a weak character. Sree Vishnu plays a crucial cameo which starts interestingly but does not add anything to the film with unclear handling of his character.

Faria Abdullah and Maanasa Choudhary were alright for their brief parts while Kasyap Sreenivas (the film’s director), Harshavardhan, Subhalekha Sudhakar, Vishnu Oi and others also fail to leave any impact.

Analysis

Gaayapadda Simham, directed by Kasyap Sreenivas, begins with a simple wedding setting of Faria Abdullah and Tharun Bhascker. After moving to the backstory, it tries to show contemporary issues like US stamping and Indian students getting deported in a fun way.

The idea is alright but the execution leaves a lot to be desired with the entire first half concentrating around the hero’s attempt to take revenge on U.S. President Donald Trump using black magic.

This idea is not engaging, but the director could have used it to show the after effects of the hero trying such silly things. Instead, he drags the idea till the very end which does not provide any entertainment except for a very little amount of fun here and there.

The characters played by JD Chakravarthy and Sree Vishnu‘s extended cameo hint at something interesting when they are introduced, but both are wasted afterwards with unclear proceedings.

The scenes featuring the police confronting the hero and the JD Chakravarthy gang fall flat, and the final stretch is bogged down by ineffective spoofs that fail completely.

Positives

  • Some comedy scenes involving Donald Trump
  • Slight intrigue before Sree Vishnu’s character’s introduction

Negatives

  • Lack of an interesting screenplay for an unconventional plot
  • Comedy does not work for the most part
  • Unappealing spoofs of several movies
  • Weak impact of characters and writing

Gaayapadda Simham Review – Final Verdict

Gaayapadda Simham misses the chance to be an unusual entertainer, and it delivers only a very few engaging parts, while the rest of the film appears pointless and silly. Even the talented actors like Tharun Bhascker, JD Chakravarthy and Sree Vishnu (in a cameo) could not save this sinking ship.

Jetlee Review: Satya Could Not Save This Absurd Comedy

0
Movie Name Jetlee
Rating 2.25/5
Cast Satya, Vennela Kishore, Ajay, Rhea Singha, Viva Harsha, Subhalekha Sudhakar, Kabir Duhan Singh
Director Ritesh Rana
Produced By Mythri Movie Makers
Release Date 1st May, 2026

Jetlee is a comedy-action movie featuring comedian Satya and Rhea Singha, directed by Ritesh Rana, who is recognized for the Mathu Vadalara series. The film’s trailer sparked significant interest among viewers with its unique airplane setting and comic premise. Let’s see if Jetlee lives up to expectations in this review.

Story

The plot of Jetlee follows Prajapati (Ajay), a scamster targeted by a group’s extraction plan. Satya gets involved in an operation, causing chaos on a flight. The chaos uncovers his scam and the main culprits involved.

Performances

Satya plays the main role and carries the entire film on his shoulders, delivering some laughs with his impeccable comic timing. Rhea Singha is decent but does not leave much impact. Vennela Kishore is underutilized, while Ajay, Sudarshan, Subhalekha Sudhakar, Harsha Chemudu and others are alright.

Analysis

In Jetlee, Director Ritesh Rana focuses more on comic moments than on delivering a proper story. There is nothing wrong with the idea, and the film starts on a good note with a bank scam backdrop before moving to the flight setting.

The introduction scene of Satya and following scenes provide the required humor, but the film quickly falls into the boring zone. There is a constant effort to produce fun in every scene, but the effect is hardly there.

The interval and post-interval scenes where Satya falls from a plane and re-enters it mid-air do not impress due to ineffective visual effects. The second half also follows the path of the first half, with only some scenes working well. The hijack sequence and the bomb-diffusing scenes do not generate the intended humor except for a few bits. The film ends with an over-the-top song and an extended post-climax scene.

Positives

  • Satya’s Comic Timing
  • Comedy Scenes Here and There

Negatives

  • Irritating Scenes
  • Repetitive and Dragged Moments
  • Misses the Required Fun Flow
  • No Proper Usage of Other Characters

Jetlee Review – Final Verdict

Jetlee delivers the expected fun only in parts and emerges as a dragged and tiresome watch. Satya puts forth his utmost effort, yet the screenplay and direction do not help him. Despite the novelty of the airplane setting and Ritesh Rana‘s track record with Mathu Vadalara, this comedy-action attempt falls short of expectations.

Finally, good days are ahead for Dhruva Natchathiram

0

After years of delays and uncertainty, there’s finally a clear path ahead for Chiyaan Vikram and Gautham Vasudev Menon’s much-awaited spy thriller, Dhruva Natchathiram. In a significant development, the court has ordered that the film must be released on or before June 15, bringing fresh hope to fans who have been waiting patiently for its arrival.

The court has also laid down strict financial guidelines to ensure a smooth release. A new dedicated bank account has been created under the name “Kondaduvom Entertainment” to handle all financial transactions related to the film. To maintain transparency, an advocate has been appointed to oversee the account, and no partner involved in the project is allowed to withdraw money as salary or profit share without proper authorization.

Gautham Menon’s Path to Release

Director Gautham Vasudev Menon is now tasked with raising funds from previously identified investors to clear outstanding dues owed to creditors. In parallel, discussions with exhibitors and distributors are expected to begin soon to lock in a suitable theatrical release date within the given deadline.

The project has been caught in a prolonged cycle of delays due to financial disputes between multiple stakeholders. The court-mandated financial structure aims to bring transparency and accountability, addressing the key issues that have prolonged the Dhruva Natchathiram uncertainty.

Court Provides Safety Net for Extension

The court has also provided a safety net: if the team is unable to release the film by June 15, 2026 despite genuine efforts, they can return to seek an extension. This provision acknowledges the complexities involved while ensuring a realistic pathway forward.

With legal hurdles gradually being resolved and the uncertainty being cleared, Dhruva Natchathiram is finally inching closer to the big screen. All eyes are now on the team to meet the deadline and deliver one of Tamil cinema’s most anticipated films.

Kara Review: Honest Intent – Half-Hearted Execution

0
Movie Name Kara
Rating 2.5/5
Cast Dhanush, Mamitha Baiju, K. S. Ravikumar, Jayaram, Karunas
Director Vignesh Raja
Produced By Vels Film International, Think Studios
Release Date 30th April,2026

Set against the backdrop of the 1991 Gulf War, Kara is a crime thriller centered on a man navigating a family crisis and a troubled past. Starring Dhanush and Mamitha Baiju in the lead roles, this Kara Review examines whether director Vignesh Raja’s second film lives up to his acclaimed debut Por Thozhil.

Story

Kara (Dhanush) is a skilled thief whose life takes a turn when he gets caught and lands in police custody, shattering the image he has carefully maintained in front of his wife (Mamitha Baiju). He tries to rebuild his life and returns to his hometown to get the papers of his ancestral wealth from his father (K. S. Ravikumar). The rest of the story is about whether Kara is successful in his mission and what incidents prompt him to go back to robbery.

Performances

Dhanush delivers a strong performance and carries the entire film on his shoulders. Mamitha Baiju fits naturally into her role as the wife, but she hardly has any screen time or scope to perform. K. S. Ravikumar impresses with a natural performance as the father, while Suraj Venjaramoodu and Jayaram are decent and could have done much better with proper characters. Karunas and others are alright.

Analysis

Director Vignesh Raja weaves together multiple elements in Kara: a village issue, a father’s emotional struggle, bank robberies, and a police investigation, into a layered narrative.

The film starts on an interesting note with the robbery episode. After a few passable moments, a small emotional touch in the father-son scenes works well. The tension around the interval episode is well maintained and raises expectations for the second half.

But this is where the film falters in achieving its goal. The second half hardly has any well-executed moments, including the climax.

The idea of a hero committing robberies for a personal cause is familiar, and the underlying angle involving bank loans adds to the routine feel. The director failed to build a strong narrative around conflict and its consequences.

The police investigation and the crooked nature of the Bank Manager do not work properly, and the scenes leading to the climax are ordinary and preachy. With a runtime of 161 minutes, the film struggles to maintain momentum, particularly in the dragging second half.

Positives

  • Dhanush’s Performance
  • Initial Moments
  • A Few Intriguing Moments in the First Half
  • Father-Son Emotional Scenes

Negatives

  • Second Half Falls Flat
  • Weak Handling of Emotional Scenes
  • Uninteresting Game Between the Police and the Hero
  • Predictable Bank Robbery Angle

Kara Review – Final Verdict

Dhanush and Vignesh Raja’s Kara starts on a promising note and engages well in its first half. But the second half loses direction, turning dull and ineffective without regaining its momentum. Dhanush delivers a solid performance, and G. V. Prakash Kumar’s background score effectively complements the film’s mood. However, the direction and screenplay fail to achieve the desired effect, limiting it to an ordinary outing. While Dhanush has delivered more impactful performances in similar period settings, Kara struggles with a weak second half that undermines its initial promise.

Peddi Buzz: Ram Charan Film Eyes June 4 After Toxic Delay

0

Ram Charan’s Peddi was officially announced for a June 25 release by director Buchi Babu Sana at the Kara pre-release event just two days ago. But after Toxic getting postponed from June 4, the Peddi buzz around an earlier release has intensified among fans and trade circles.

June Calendar Shifts After Multiple Announcements

Several developments unfolded yesterday that reshaped the June release landscape. Yash’s pan-India film Toxic announced its postponement from June 4, while Nagarjuna Akkineni confirmed that Lenin is arriving on June 26. With these back-to-back updates, significant movement has been reported in the industry, including within the Peddi team.

Strong buzz now suggests that the Peddi team is considering advancing the release date to June 4. An official announcement is expected very soon, following the recent postponement from April 30.

If the sports drama advances to June 4, it would capitalize on the vacant slot left by Toxic and avoid a direct clash with Lenin on June 26. The film would get a clear solo window, which could work strongly in Ram Charan’s favor given the current Peddi buzz in the market.
