Mega Power Star Ram Charan‘s Peddi continues to post decent numbers at the box office, but the Peddi controversy has escalated with tribal organizations demanding legal action against the makers over alleged misrepresentation of tribal communities.

Earlier Controversy Over Janhvi Kapoor’s Portrayal

Earlier, the film came under criticism for the portrayal of Janhvi Kapoor‘s character, Achiyamma. Several women’s groups and social media users objected to what they described as an overly glamorous and objectified depiction of the character.

Responding to the backlash, director Buchi Babu Sana issued a public apology and reportedly made certain changes to the theatrical version of the film to address the concerns raised by critics.

Tribal Organizations Raise Fresh Objections

However, just as that controversy appeared to be settling down, Peddi has now landed in fresh trouble. Several Adivasi groups have alleged that the movie misrepresents tribal culture and portrays tribal communities through negative stereotypes.

A particular scene has become the focal point of the criticism, where the hero’s actions are seemingly justified on the grounds of his lack of education and tribal background. Tribal groups have filed formal complaints with the District Collector and Superintendent of Police in Vizianagaram, objecting to certain scenes and dialogues in the film.

Representatives from various tribal organizations have also questioned how the censor board cleared the content despite its allegedly controversial nature.

Demands for Legal Action Under SC/ST Act

The issue has now escalated further, with tribal groups demanding the immediate removal of the objectionable content from Peddi. Some organizations have called for legal action under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against the filmmakers, including director Buchi Babu Sana, production house Mythri Movie Makers, and even censor board officials if corrective measures are not taken.
