Megastar Chiranjeevi, who’s been quite active in all the Movie Artists Association (MAA) activities since its’ inception has decided to quit the organization. Chiranjeevi, who’s also the founder-president of the organization quit the organization’s disciplinary committee that he was a part of.
MAA has been embroiled in quite a few controversies for the last few years. To resolve these issues, a disciplinary committee was set up last year which featured Tollywood bigwigs. Chiranjeevi, Murali Mohan, Jayasudha, and Mohan Babu were members of this committee. Veteran actor, Rebel Star Krishnam Raju is the chairman of this committee to whom Chiru submitted his resignation.
Responding to Chiranjeevi’s resignation, VK Naresh, President of MAA said, ” We have received Chiranjeevi garu’s letter; he tendered his resignation from his position a couple of days back citing busy personal and professional commitments.”
Chiranjeevi’s busy schedule and his ongoing shoot schedules for Acharya are being cited as the main reasons for his resignation. But, there is another theory behind this as well. Continuous clashes of opinions and lack of respect from MAA are being cited as the actual reason behind this decision.
While only Chiranjeevi knows the reasons for his exit, MAA’s recent fund mismanagement controversy along with a number of public feuds with disgruntled members truly tell a different story.
Chiranjeevi quits MAA, What’s the real reason?
Tough Task ahead for Tollywood biggies
Vakeel Saab released today world over amidst great fanfare and celebrations. Pawan Kalyan is returning to screens after a gap of three years and fans’ excitement knows no bounds. However, amidst all the celebrations, the government of AP delivered another setback for the Vakeel Saab team. This new move from the government is not just going to impact Vakeel Saab but also many upcoming Tollywood biggies.
As per a new GO issued on 8th April, theatres across Andhra Pradesh have been given directives regarding the prices of the tickets. As per the directives, theatres situated in Municipal Corporation, Municipality, Nagar Panchayat, and Gram Panchayat each have been given a slab for ticket prices as per the theatre class.
This year, Tollywood is going to witness a number of big-ticket films, and producers and distributors are really counting on them to pull them out of the lean patch brought in by lockdown last year. However, If this situation continues to prevail, a number of Tollywood biggies will have to struggle really hard to recover their investment with the government-established ticket prices.

Cast: Pawan Kalyan, Shruti Haasan, Anjali, Prakash Raj, Ananya Nagalla, Nivetha
Director: Venu Sriram
Produced By: Sri Venkateshwara Creations and Bay view projects
Release Date: 09th April 2021
Story: Satyadev(Pawan Kalyan) is an alcoholic who used to practice law in his past. Pallavi( Nivetha Thomas), Zarina(Anjali), and Divya( Ananya Nagalla) are three friends who get into trouble after going to a resort with 3 boys. The 3 boys misbehave with the girls in the resort and sexually harass them. Pallavi hits one of the boys Vamshi with a glass bottle when he tries to sexually harass her which results in a very serious injury for Vamshi. Vamshi is the son of an MP( Mukesh Rishi) and the MP tries to use his influence to save his son from the case and appoints one of the top lawyers Nanda ( Prakash Raj). Satyadev who hasn’t been practising for 4 years returns to practice to take up the case of Pallavi and her friends. Whether he wins the case or not forms the remaining story.
Performances:
Pawan Kalyan comes up with a decent performance. His trademark mannerisms will bring goosebumps for his fans. He has come up with far better and convincing performance than his last film, Agnyaathavaasi. He is really good in the court scenes. He has uttered Telangana dialect with ease and impresses with his dialogue delivery and intensity. Prakash Raj also excels in the film with a very fine performance. His confrontation scenes with Pawan Kalyan are the highlight of the film. Ananya, Nivetha, and Anjali are adequate. Shruti Haasan doesn’t really have an important role in the film and was used as a filler for the commercial aspect of the film.
Plus Points:
Pawan Kalyan
Prakash Raj
Court Scenes
Thaman’s music
Interval bang
Minus points:
Forced commercial elements
Flashback sequences
Direction
Analysis: The first half of the movie starts off well with the director establishing the point. Pawan Kalyan’s characterization and his entry scene are also very good. However, the flashback sequences are unwarranted and have been forcibly written to glorify the image of Pawan Kalyan. The flashback sequences don’t add any strength to the plot and are very lagging. The song between Pk and Shruti is also very average on screen. The interval bang is very well executed and Pawan Kalyan’s mannerisms and performance light up the mood of the film. The second half of the film is better than the first half and the court scenes are very well executed. However, the action sequences are forced and unnecessary. They dilute the flavour of the film. The character of Sharat Babu also seems a forced one and was used to elevate the character of Satyadev. Pawan Kalyan and Prakash Raj confrontation scenes are excellent and they are the highlight of the film. Director Venu Sriram did a very average job with the execution of the film. He had a very good script which he could have taken to the next level but he diluted it with unnecessary commercial elements. The emotional scenes also don’t make an impact. However, the director has succeeded in handling the court scenes. Music by Thaman is a major plus. All of the songs are good and the BGM is electrifying. Cinema-photography is average. Editing is poor as the film seems slow and could have been crisper. All other departments are adequate. Production values are decent.
Overall, Vakeel Saab is a decent film. Fans will embrace it more as PK has performed well. The regular audience will find it as a decent watch.

Revisiting Aarya – Feel Good Romantic Entertainer
Starring: Allu Arjun, Anuradha, Siva Balaji, Venu Madhav, Sunil, Rajan P Dev, Subbaraju
Director: Sukumar
Released on: May 7, 2004
Story: Geetha (Anuradha) is a college student. Ajay (Siva Balaji) falls in love with her and blackmails her to love him. Ajay is the son of a local political big shot and so Geetha is forced to accept his love out of fear. Just then, Aarya (Allu Arjun) enters the college and falls in love with Geetha at first sight and confesses his love for her. She rejects his proposal and says that she is already in a relationship with Ajay. Aarya does not give up and keeps going after Geetha. Did Aarya succeed in his love or not and did the relationship between Geetha and Ajay work out despite the entry of Aarya forms the rest of the story.
Performances: After an impressive debut with Gangotri, Allu Arjun showed a huge improvement in his second film Aarya. He looks more manly and physically fit in this film. He got a chance to show his capabilities in all departments like romance, comedy, action, dances and emotional scenes and he did a fabulous job and is very impressive for someone in their second film. Anuradha too does well in a well-written role which is a mix of confusion and innocence. Siva Balaji does well as the spoilt brat of the college. His role too carries multiple shades. Other supporting actors like Rajan P Dev, Subbaraju and Venu Madhav got the scope to show their mettle in a couple of scenes. Sunil, who appears in a single train sequence entertains with his ‘Punch’ comedy.
Technicalities: Aarya is a technically class film. After award-winning works in Tamil, ace cinematographer Rathnavelu made his Telugu debut with Aarya. His work in this film is brilliant and his constant collaboration with Sukumar has always resulted in visually brilliant films. Music is another major asset for this film. All songs by Devi Sri Prasad are very popular even today. ‘Aa Ante Amalapuram’ and ‘Feel My Love’ are evergreen hits and still are very popular and widely listened to in the Telugu states. Marthand K Venkatesh’s neat editing work is another major plus and helps in the seamless flow of the film. Sukumar’s dialogues are another major plus for the film, especially the logical ones on one side-love. There are limited action sequences in the film but they are impactful. Production values by Dil Raju definitely deserve a mention.
Screenplay-Direction: Today, everybody knows what a genius writer Sukumar is but Sukumar has shown what he is capable of in his very first film. His command on the script and characterisations is brilliant and such brilliance is possessed by very few directors. Sukumar’s hero characterisation is always unique and stands out when compared with other directors. The film starts with a poetic touch and then shifts to college atmosphere and love portions. The second half turns a bit serious and allows scope for some action and emotional scenes. The climax is beautifully executed with a feel-good emotional touch. In this way, the film is perfectly packaged to make it work commercially. At the same time, the film never loses grip on its core plot and emotions. Sukumar deserves full credit for his clarity of thought and perfect execution on his debut. Each scene offers some kind of freshness and possesses great repeat value. Among the love stories that came out at that time, Aarya is definitely something fresh and unique. If released during present times, this film would have been criticised for its excessive stalking but for the time of the release of this film it worked wonders and connected immensely with the youth.
Conclusion: Aarya was a box office blockbuster and a great debut for Sukumar and a great second outing for Allu Arjun and Dil Raju. It also introduced brilliant technicians like Rathnavelu to Tollywood and also laid the foundation for one of the best and most loved Director-Music Director combination of Sukumar and Devi Sri Prasad. Aarya was also dubbed into Malayalam and remade in several languages including Tamil starring the talented Dhanush. The film won several awards including the Filmfare and Nandi Awards for Sukumar and a special Nandi jury award for Allu Arjun. This film set the right tone and start for Allu Arjun’s career and a sequel for Aarya was also made in 2009 which couldn’t meet the standards set by the original but is a musical hit. When someone is asked to suggest the best love stories made in Telugu especially after 2000, then the list would be incomplete without Aarya.
