Business revision for Tollywood biggies

0

The pandemic for sure has dampened the plans for a lot of Tollywood biggies in more ways than one. It has disrupted the shooting schedules of some and has delayed releases of some. Adding to that, the recent government order by the Andhra Pradesh government has also put producers and distributors in two minds.

After the 1st wave of Covid, producers had closed massive deals on their movies thinking things will get better now. The box-office success of many movies that released after first wave gave further boost to their belief.

But now the second wave has dampened a lot of these deals. It can be said that the covid second wave hit the industry much harder. Now the situation is entirely different in Tollywood. The lack of clarity over ticket prices in Andhra Pradesh is giving sleepless nights to producers and distributors.

Buzz is that the deals of a number of Tollywood biggies like Acharya and Radhe Shyam might be revised considering the present situations.

AP CM puts film industry in deep trouble

0

Looks like the troubles for the Telugu film industry are not going to end soon. With theatres opening and film shootings resuming, it was expected that life will finally get to normal. However, the producers and exhibitors might continue to face issues even with normalcy restored.

Reportedly, AP CM Jaganmohan Reddy has asked his aides to not approach him on the issue of ticket rate slabs that he had earlier imposed.

It all started when a new GO was issued on 8th April, that directed theatres across AP regarding the prices of the tickets. As per the directives, theatres situated in Municipal Corporation, Municipality, Nagar Panchayat, and Gram Panchayat each have been given a slab for ticket prices as per the theatre class. This created a lot of trouble for the movies.

The Chief Minister is quite firm on this move and reportedly not willing to go back on the price rates. This decision has put the producers and exhibitors in a spot of bother as they will be already operating at 50% occupancy leading to low returns.

Love Story producer about the movie release

Sekhar Kammula’s Love Story is one of the most anticipated movies of the year. The romantic drama starring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi was set to release in April but got postponed due to the Covid second wave.

Now with theatres opening, there are chances of a new release date being announced soon. However, the producers have clarified that the movie will be only releasing under completely normals situations.

According to Sunil Narang, the film’s producer ” The film won’t be releasing anytime soon even if theatres were to be permitted to operate at 50% capacity from July 1.”

“It’s not viable to screen if theaters reopen with only 3 shows per day. So, we will think about releasing only after the night curfew is lifted. I think things will return to normalcy only after July second week,” he added.

The movie has generated great buzz with Pavan Ch’s compositions turning out to be chartbusters. This will be the second movie in Sai Pallavi and Sekhar Kammula’s combo after 2017 superhit ‘Fidaa’.
