Uncertainty over Tuck Jagadish

Tuck Jagdish has been waiting for release for quite some time. This Nani and Jagapathy Babu starter was earlier scheduled to release in April but the pandemic played spoilsport. Now with the theatres reopening slowly, the talks of release have again resumed.

However, the AP ticket prices controversy has made the situation a bit tricky. According to the latest reports, the makers are awaiting the ongoing stalemate between the government and the film industry to get resolved. In case the issue doesn’t get resolved the makers have decided to opt for an OTT release.

The producers Sahu Garapati and Harish Peddi have received quite attractive deals from the OTT platforms and are now considering going for it. Interestingly, the makers have time and again clarified that the movie will only release in theatres. However, the current scenario might make them change their minds

In case the issue gets resolved by 1st August, Tuck Jagadish will have a theatrical release on August 13th. If not, then OTT looks like the only solution.

Directed by Shiva Nirvana, the movie marks the second collaboration between him and Nani after Ninnu Kori. Jagapathi Babu, Nassar, Ritu Varma, Aishwarya Rajesh, and Rohini are playing other pivotal roles.

Nithiin’s Maestro OTT release details

Nithiin who is in desperate need of a hit has decided this time to go for an OTT release for his upcoming film Maestro. Nithiin’s Maestro is a remake of 2018 Ayushman Khurana starter Andhadhun. Andhadhun was a massive success in Hindi and won 3 National awards. The film won the best film and screenplay while Ayushman received the Best Actor that year.

The dark comedy crime thriller will be streaming on Disney + Hotstar from the second week of August. An official announcement on the same is awaited.

Maestro is the story of a blind pianist who unintentionally gets caught in a murder mystery. What happens next is the crux of the film.

Nabha Natesh and Tamannah co-star in Nithiin’s Maestro. While Nabha will be essaying Radhika Apte’s role, Tamannah is slated to play Tabu’s character. Directed by Merlapaka Gandhi, Nithiin’s Maestro was scheduled to release on June 11th. However, the present prevailing conditions have pushed the release date further leading to the makers taking this decision

3 Tollywood releases lined up on 30th July

With theatres slowly opening up after the lockdown, a number of Tollywood films are quickly lining up for releases. Tollywood biggies are still looking for the situation in AP to improve. With an ongoing stalemate between AP government and exhibitors, many small films are scheduling their release. Seeing this as a perfect time, three small-budget Tollywood releases have lined themselves up on 30th July.

The much anticipated Satyadev starrer Thimmarusu, Teja Sajja’s Ishq, and Narasimhapuram featuring Nandakishore are set to release on this date.

Satyadev’s Thimmarusu, a remake of the Kannada film Birbal Trilogy Case 1 has been in the waiting for quite some time. The makers have been waiting for a small window to open for the release. And they have found just that on July 30th. The teasers and special promo song have created positive buzz for the film. Satyadev’s script selection and performance are going to be the biggest asset to the film. Undoubtedly this is the most anticipated of the Tollywood releases on this day.

Teja Sajja, who is riding on a success wave would look to continue the same with Ishq. The teaser has revealed that the movie is going to be loaded with thrills and twist. On the other hand, Siraj Balla directorial Narasimhapuram has a raw and rustic vibe to it. And it needs to be seen what a young and fresh cast can do.

Asuran vs Narappa divides trolls and netizens

Venkatesh’s Narappa has finally hit the small screen and has received a thumbs up from the critics and audience alike. Venkatesh’s performance has been well appreciated by all and has been termed as one of the best of his career. However, the movie much before its release was caught in an Asuran vs Narappa comparison and post-release the trolls have unleashed themselves giving rise to the debate on Tamil vs Telugu versions yet again.

One of the main areas of discussion in this Asuran vs Narappa is who portrayed the lead character better. Venky fans have cited his experience and versatility as miles ahead of Dhanush claiming their supremacy. On the other hand, the lovers of the Tamil version have been claiming that the Telugu version is not even faithful to the original and has strayed away from the core point of the film. Apart from this, Dhanush fans are claiming that when it comes to realistic portrayal, no one can even match Dhanush.

Incidentally, Dhanush starred in the remake of Venkatesh’s 2007 family entertainer Aadavari Matalaku Arthale Verule. The Tamil version was titled Yaaradi Nee Mohini and was one of the big successes of the young actor’s career in the initial days. The Asuran vs Narappa debate has also given rise now to Aadavari Matalaku Arthale Verule vs Yaaradi Nee Mohini.

Dhanush was awarded National Award for his performance in this movie and won many accolades world over for his role ‘Sivasaami’. The Telugu version is almost a frame-to-frame remake of Asuran but certain elements have been changed to meet Telugu nativity. Also, there has been criticism against Srikanth Addala for downplaying the caste angle which was much higher in Asuran.

While certain changes are almost always done in the remakes, one thing that has stayed constant to the original is the lead’s performance. Venkatesh, who earlier termed Narappa as the most grueling character of his career has definitely given an award-winning performance in Asuran, and just like Dhanush, he carried the entire movie on his shoulder.

Mahesh Babu to work with Sandeep Vanga up next?

The rumours of a possible collaboration between Superstar Mahesh Babu and Sandeep Reddy Vanga have been going on for quite some time. With Mahesh deciding to finish up Sarkaru Vaari Paata at the earliest, speculations have come up that he would fit in a film with Sandeep somewhere.

Even Mahesh’s fans are eagerly waiting for this movie to go on floors as they are eager to see a totally new side to him. Sandeep had presented a totally new Vijay Devarakonda in Tollywood and Shahid Kapur in Bollywood and the same is expected of his upcoming films.

Sandeep Vanga, who rose to fame with the 2017 blockbuster Arjun Reddy has also expressed a desire to work with Superstar. Presently, Mahesh is busy with Parasuram Petla’s Sarkaru Vaari Paata, following this he would move on to SSMB28 with Trivikram.

Once the Trivikram movie is wrapped up, there would be the much-awaited film with SS Rajamouli. Hence a movie with Sandeep Reddy Vanga will definitely have to wait for some time before it goes to floors.

Meanwhile, Sandeep Vanga, after the grand success of his Bollywood debut Kabir Singh has finalized another Hindi subject. Titled ‘Animal’ this film will star Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role. With Ranbir busy with Brahmastra and Shamshera, Animal would take some more time to see the light.

Balakrishna comments on AP Ticket Price issue

After producer Suresh Babu, Nandamuri Balakrishna has commented on the AP Government’s order placing slab on ticket rates. The ‘Akhanda’ actor said that the current prices set by the government are not practical for exhibitors and distributors and are bound to raise many issues for the film industry in the future.

As per a new GO issued on 8th April, theatres across Andhra Pradesh have been given directives regarding the prices of the tickets. As per the directives, theatres situated in Municipal Corporation, Municipality, Nagar Panchayat, and Gram Panchayat each have been given a slab for ticket prices as per the theatre class.

Suresh Babu had earlier this week commented on this issue and stated that these prices would not even recover electricity bills leave alone theatre management.

This year, Tollywood is going to witness a number of big-ticket films, and producers and distributors are really counting on them to pull them out of the lean patch brought in by lockdown last year. However, If this situation continues to prevail, a number of Tollywood biggies will have to struggle really hard to recover their investment with the government-established ticket prices.

Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra arrested for pornography

Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra has found himself in the midst of another legal trouble. Raj Kundra was arrested by Mumbai Police as the ‘key conspirator’ in a pornography-related case. He has been accused of creating and distributing pornographic videos through mobile apps.

Speaking to the media, Mumbai Police Commissioner said, There was a case registered with Crime Branch Mumbai in February 2021 about the creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some Apps. We’ve arrested Mr. Raj Kundra in this case on 19/7/21 as he appears to be the key conspirator of this.”

Shilpa Shetty who is known to the Tollywood audience for her roles in Sahasa Veerudu Sagara Kanya and Azad got married to Raj Kundra in 2009. Raj Kundra was also a part-owner in the IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals from where he was banned for life over match-fixing allegations.

He will spend the night in the custody of the Crime Branch, Mumbai. He will be placed in the property cell office later on. Already a couple of FIRs have been filed against him.

Sankalp Reddy to team up with Vidyut Jammwal!

Young director Sankalp Reddy is all set to set his foot in Bollywood. The ‘Ghazi’ director will be next handling a spy thriller IB-71. Action star Vidyut Jammwal will star in the lead role in this spy thriller and will also be producing it.

The film is reportedly based on the heroics on Indian Intelligence Officers during a war with Pakistan. How the timely inputs from the Intelligence Bureau officers gave India an advantage over Pakistan is what the story is about. Vidyut Jammwal will be playing the role of an Intelligence Bureau officer in this thriller.

Apparently, Vidyut’s production house approached Sankalp Reddy after they watched his movies Ghazi and Antariksham. The team shared the script of IB71 with the director and asked him if he could direct it.

Sankalp is currently getting the screenplay ready for the film and if all goes well, IB71 will go on floors in December. The rest of the cast ad crew will be finalized soon.

Ravi Teja starrer Ramarao On Duty went on floors recently. The film which is reportedly based on certain true incidents will have the Mass Maharaja playing a totally unique character which he has not tried yet.

The filmmakers commenced shooting earlier this month. Ravi Teja will be seen in the role of a Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO) in the film.

Sarath Mandava, who earlier directed the Tamil film KO2 will be directing this action thriller marking his Telugu debut. Now, the makers have made another interesting addition to the film. Malayalam actress Rajisha Vijayan will be seen in the movie alongside Ravi Teja.

The actress is on a career-high and has also signed a number of Tamil and Malayalam films with stars. She will also be sen alongside the A-listers like Suriya, Fahadh, and Karthi in her upcoming Kollywood and Mollywood films.

Meanwhile, Rajisha’s role in Ravi Teja’s film is also going to be a unique and exciting one just like her previous films. The actress was last seen in Dhanush starter Karnan where her performance was well appreciated by all.

Ramarao On Duty also stars Naresh, Pavithra Lokesh, and Rahul Ramakrishna playing prominent roles. It is being bankrolled by Sudhakar Cherukuri under the banner of SLV cinemas along with RT Teamworks.

Would love a Bolly remake of Ismart Shankar

Ram Pothineni, Nidhhi Agerwal, and Nabha Natesh starrer Ismart Shankar marked 2 years of its release on Sunday. The film is special for the entire unit as it brought several members a much-needed commercial success. The film brought hero Ram and director Puri Jagannath on the hit track and revived their careers.

Apart from that, Ismart Shankar put actresses Nidhhi and Nabha in the big league. Both these actresses were flooded with offers after the release of the film. Speaking to a media house recently, Nidhhi Agerwal said, “I would love to see this film being remade in Hindi. I think it will be a very entertaining film if it’s made in Hindi and it would again do the numbers”.

“I feel very proud that I am part of the film because it was such a big hit and I think it was the first time that I was exposed to the mass crowd. The crowd that I absolutely love. It was the first time I was exposed to that kind of love and attention and I absolutely loved it,” she added

The actress further added that Ram should play the lead role again if a Bollywood remake is done. The actress is currently busy with a bunch of Telugu and Tamil projects and has bagged a role in Pawan Kalyan’s Hari Hara Veera Mallu.
