Srikanth Addala’s surprising revelation

Srikanth Addala has totally changed his route now. The director who earlier directed soft family dramas like Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu, Kotha Bangaru Lokam, and Brahmotsavam earlier has decided to go the mass way.

Presently the director is busy with promotions and interviews for the Venkatesh starter action drama Narappa. The film will release on July 20th on Amazon Prime. Post this, he has decided to stick with the mass action genre as well.

Srikanth Addala revealed that he will be next directing a movie under Geetha Arts banner. The film has been titled ‘Annai’. It will be a mass action entertainer. What’s interesting here is that the film will be a trilogy. While further details are awaited, Srikanth Addala shifting to action and mass genre has definitely surprised many.

Even the initial teasers and rushes of Narappa had surprised many who never expected the director to carry the subject with such expertise.

Suresh Babu lashes out at CM Jagan

Producer Suresh Babu lashed out at the AP government’s G.O on ticket prices and questioned the logic behind it. He was talking to the media ahead of the release on Narappa. Speaking to the media, Suresh Babu pointed out that the ticket prices dictated by the government won’t even be sufficient to pay the electricity bills, leave alone theatre maintenance and management.

Suresh Babu further added that for any product the makers should be placing the price but here they are being made to follow the price set by someone else.

As per a new GO issued on 8th April, theatres across Andhra Pradesh have been given directives regarding the prices of the tickets. As per the directives, theatres situated in Municipal Corporation, Municipality, Nagar Panchayat, and Gram Panchayat each have been given a slab for ticket prices as per the theatre class.

Interestingly, Suresh Babu has gone for OTT deals for all his upcoming films Narappa, Drushyam 2 and Virata Parvam.

Nayanthara joins Baahubali

Netflix’s upcoming series Baahubali: Before The Beginning is reportedly going to feature Nayanthara, marking her digital debut. A prequel to SS Rajamouli’s blockbuster Baahubali, the show will depict the world of Baahubali before the first movie Baahubali: The Beginning.

It will feature the rise of Sivagami and also the story of how Mahishmati developed into the powerful empire it was. Nayanthara is expected to play an important role in the series but the exact details are not yet out.

The show was originally greenlit in 2018 and production had begun until the streamer reportedly ordered a reshoot with a fresh cast and directors.

Punjabi actress Wamiqa Gabbi has been signed as the young Sivagami and makers are waiting for the monsoon to end to build “lavish outdoor sets” to bring Mahishmati to life. The shoot may begin by September-October. The web drama is based on Anand Neelakantan’s novels, The Rise of Sivagami, Chaturanga, and Queen of Mahishmathi

RRR team to assemble for a special song

The RRR team is riding on a high after the super success of making video ‘Roar of RRR’. The making video was well received and finally gave an inside glimpse into the world of RRR.

Now the RRR team is planning to the promotions up by a notch and is shooting for a special song. The specialty of this song is that it will feature the entire unit of the movie. The RRR unit will assemble all at once at the Annapurna Studios to shoot for this song.

Rajamouli had shot something similar for his 2009 Industry Hit Magadheera. The special song that came at the end of the credits featured the entire unit of the movie. It looks like this time also the ace director is planning something similar. The only difference is that the RRR special song will be on a much bigger scale.

After a long break caused by the pandemic, the shooting of SS Rajamouli’s much-awaited RRR resumed earlier last month. Director SS Rajamouli is keen on finishing the entire balance portion in the next few days. The movie is scheduled for a worldwide release on October 13th, 2021.

DVV Danayya is backing this multi starrer project featuring Jr NTR and Ram Charan under his banner DVV Entertainments. MM Keeravani will be composing music for this period action drama.

“Narappa exhausted me”, says Venkatesh

Venkatesh who is getting ready for the release of his next film Narappa addressed the media at Ramanaidu Studios earlier today. A remake of Tamil action entertainer Asuran, Narappa is being directed by Srikanth Addala and also features Priyamani, Rajeev Kanakala, and Karthik Ratnam in key roles. The film will be released directly on OTT and Venkatesh spoke to the media on various issues around the film, its release and his experience working in it.

“Asuran is one of the best films I have ever watched. I have never come across such a hard-hitting emotional drama in my life. It was my instinct that has made me say yes to this film. While many think that remakes are easy to work in, but recreating the world of Asuran was really difficult.”, said the actor

He further added that playing Narappa was extremely challenging and easily the toughest of his career. “Narappa is the most challenging character I have ever played in my career. The film showcases a bundle of emotions and I worked really hard to get these things right. I would say this character, literally, tested me a lot and I really enjoyed portraying it. “

“As for the preparation, I never detached from the character. Even after pack up, I chose to remain in the same costume to not get myself emotionally disconnected from this role. I would say it was exhausting to portray this motley of emotions in the film. It’s really refreshing to portray a strong character after many years,” he stated.

Theatres to reopen in Telangana from July 23rd

Telangana government has decided to permit cinema theatres to reopen from July 23rd onwards. The theatres will also be functioning with 100% occupancy now.

Representatives of the Telangana Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC) met cinematography minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav and submitted a memorandum to consider the opening of cinemas. With confirmation from the Minister, the theater owners have approved the opening of theaters in Telangana starting from July 23.

Before that, cinema theatres were completely closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now that the COVID-19 was more or less under control, the government thought it appropriate to reopen the facilities.

The cinema theatres opening are required to follow all necessary social distancing measures and masks will be mandatory. Additionally, compulsory sanitisation of common areas after each show has been made mandatory.

A number of movies that were supposed to release in April will now be scurrying to set a release date now. Movies such as Love Story, Tuck Jagadish, etc. are soon expected to announce official release dates.

An exciting addition to Ram’s #RaPo19

Ram and Lingusamy’s action thriller #RaPo19 is underway and is being filmed in Hyderabad. The film will have Krithi Shetty in the lead opposite Ram and will be an out-and-out mass action film. The movie will be based on a faction backdrop.

#RaPo19 will be made on a grand scale and lavish budget. Srinivasa Chitturi will be producing this film. While Lingusamy hasn’t directed any straight Telugu film, the dubbed versions of his films such as Pandemkodi, Run, and Awara were massive hits in Telugu.

The film started shooting amidst great buzz and according to reports, the makers are considering having Aadhi Pinisetty as the main villain. Aadhi is no new face to Telugu audience and has acted in a negative role in Pawan Kalyan’s Agnyaathavaasi. He was also seen in a career-defining role in Ram Charan’s Rangasthalam and also achieved great acclaim for his act in Ninnu Kori.

His presence will be adding great flair to #RaPo, an action entertainer which is known as Lingusamy’s strong zone.

Faction films were the flavour of the season in the early to mid-2000s. However, the popularity of the genre faded out with the audience expecting freshness. Now, it will be interesting to see if the Energetic Star is able to revive the genre or not. The film will go on floors soon and will release in both Telugu and Tamil in 2022.

Sumanth’s new look impresses

Sumanth who for the large part of his career found comfort in soft and romantic roles has undergone a total makeover. The actor will be seen in a rugged and mass look in his forthcoming film, Anaganaga Oka Rowdy. He will also be sporting a lungi throughout the film.

“This is the first time I am doing an action and crime comedy, a genre I’ve never tried so far. It’s always exciting whenever I try something different,” said Sumanth. This Manu Yagna directorial is set in Vizag and Sumanth will play a character named Waltair Seenu.

The role needed the actor to prepare for his part, physically and speech-wise. So while he had to beef up for the part, he also had to work on his accent a bit as his character needs to speak with a Vizag accent.

“The audiences will see a new me in this film,” adds the actor. “Playing rugged roles always gives me a different kind of high.” added the Malli Raava actor.

“I am constantly looking at branching out to new terrains because that’s when you can push yourself. And the best part is that I stuck to this philosophy irrespective of the box office results,” he says, adding, trying to constantly present himself in a new form with every film is an ongoing effort.

The film is in its final schedule and will be wrapped up and be ready to release soon.

A remake of 2018 Hindi superhit ‘Andhadhun’, Maestro also stars Tamannah and Nabha Natesh.
