Will RRR release? All eyes on October

SS Rajamouli’s RRR is one of the most awaited films across the industries. The film’s recently released Dosti song has also created a great buzz for the film. Rajamouli has decided to wrap up the shoot at express pace and the movie unit is presently in Ukraine finishing up balance portions. The RRR release date however has created major problems for the unit.

With the shooting picking up great speed, the question of release date has once again come up. Currently, movie industries across India are picking up pace with theatres reopening and shoots going on well. This is good news for RRR which is a pan-India film and needs theatres to completely function in order to go for a release.

However, with the chances of a third wave of the pandemic looking high, the movie unit is in dilemma whether to announce the stipulated release date of 13th October or to wait out till the period gets over.

With RRR being a pan India film, it is crucial that theatres across India are functioning with complete occupancy in order for it to perform as per expectations.

Meanwhile, other Tollywood releases Acharya and Akhanda are also aiming for an October release. Both these films are aiming at only the Telugu market hence AP and Telangana theatres would suffice for their release. The makers of both these films are keeping an eye on October in case RRR release postpones.

All these movies are playing a wait and watch game before making any announcement and it needs to be seen who blinks first.

Bangarraju mints a solid deal

Nagarjuna’s Bangarraju has got off to a solid start even before it has gone on floors. The film which will start shooting on August 20th has inked an all-inclusive deal with Zee network for Rs 47 crores. The film is aiming for a Sankranti 2022 release. The deal gives total rights to Zee for the Theatrical+Digital+Satellite release.

This deal is being considered as a smart move by the makers as the Sankranti season is already packed with a number of Tollywood biggies. Nagarjuna also had a rough time at the box office for his last two releases.

Ramya Krishna will once again make a return from the original along with Nagarjuna. Nagarjuna will play the double in this sequel as well. The movie will also have Naga Chaitanya and Krithi Shetty. Bangarraju is a sequel to the 2016 socio fantasy drama Soggade Chinni Nayana directed by Kalyan Krishna, who will direct the sequel.

The sequel will be set in Rajahmundry and will pick up from where the first part ended. The shoot of the film will commence on August 20th in Hyderabad and a lavish set is constructed in Annapurna Studios for the same. The makers are planning to complete the entire production by November.

Nani’s Meet Cute goes on floors

Nani’s next production under his banner Wall Poster Cinema ‘Meet Cute’ is underway. The film will be an anthology and will feature 5 stories each headlined by 5 beautiful women.

The film will be a female-centric one and a combination of 5 stories. This will be the production house’s fourth film after Awe, HIT and HIT:2. Nani’s sister Deepthi Ganta will be directing this film and marking her debut. Deepthi has earlier directed a short film Anaganaga Oka Naana.

The actor took to social media to share the progress of the film. Meet Cute was launched amidst great fanfare in June and a lot of suspense has been maintained on the genre and the faces that will feature the film.

Rohini, Adah Sharma, Varsha Bollamma, Akanksha Singh, Ruhani Sharma, Sunaina, and Sanchita Poonacha are the female leads, while Ashwin Kumar, Shiva Kandukuri, Deekshit Shetty, Govind Padmasoorya, and Raja are finalized as the male lead of the anthology.

Police complaint against Niharika’s husband Chaitanya

Niharika Konidela and her husband Chaitanya found themselves at the end of a legal complaint on Wednesday night. The residents and neighbours of the couple’s apartment in Banjara Hills filed a complaint against Chaitanya over a tussle. Chaitanya also filed a complained at the Banjara Hills police station against the group.

While the exact reason for the tussle is known yet, it is being reported that the residents of the apartment were not happy with Chaitanya’s behavior for the past few days. The altercation between Chaitanya and neighbors took a heated turn and led to both parties taking the legal route at the Banjara Hills police station.

Chaitanya and Niharika got married in 2020 and the couple have been staying at the apartment ever since. Chaitanya is the son of Guntur IG J Prabhakar Rao while Niharika is the only daughter of actor-producer Naga Babu

Ghani up for a Diwali release?

Varun Tej’s sports drama Ghani has seen multiple ups and downs during the course of its making. The movie came to a halt during the pandemic and there were also reports of director Kiran Korrapati having differences with Varun Tej. However, all that is a thing of past and the movie is nearing its completion now.

Geetha Arts are all set to announce an update regarding the movie. This will most probably be regarding the released date. A strong buzz suggests that Ghani will be out on Diwali.

The movie will have some top-notch boxing action. Hollywood action directors Larnell Stovall and Vlad Rimburg have worked on the film. The duo directed some crucial action episodes in the film.

OTT platform Aha has signed a deal of a whopping Rs 24 crores for Ghani. This deal includes both digital as well as satellite rights.

A special boxing ring set was erected recently in a Hyderabad studio to shoot some crucial boxing shots for the film. Debutant director Kiran Korapati is directing this sports action drama. Saiee Manjrekar, Sunil Shetty, Upendra and Jagapathy Babu will be essaying key roles in this film.  Sidhu Mudda and Allu Bobby have jointly produced the film under the banners of Renaissance Pictures and Allu Bobby Company.

Tuck Jagadish makers change the route

Nani’s Tuck Jagadish has been in waiting for a release date since April. The film was earlier scheduled to release on 23rd April. But, as luck would have it, the movie got pushed due to lockdown like a number of other much-anticipated movies.

This Nani and Ritu Verma starter is now set to release on OTT now. This update has come up now despite both makers and Nani repeatedly claiming that there will only be a theatrical release for this family entertainer.

Allu Arjun’s PR team over-excitement backfired

The much-awaited update on Allu Arjun’s Pushpa release date came out yesterday and has given great energy to fans and movie lovers. After months of wait, finally, Tollywood biggies are going to hit the screens with Sarkaru Vaari Paata, PSPK-Rana film, and Radhe Shyam which will release soon after Pushpa.

Pushpa is set to release this Christmas and will clash with Bollywood biggie Lal Singh Chaddha and possibly KGF: Chapter 2 as well. While Allu Arjun and Fahadh have a sizable following in the south, Aamir Khan’s hold in the north and overseas can’t be denied. Ignoring this factor and undermining Aamir Khan’s stardom, Allu Arjun’s PR team has gone on an overdrive claiming Pushpa will beat Lal Singh Chaddha quite easily.

Such actions from his overzealous PR team will only hurt the credibility of the Icon Star who is riding on a career-high at the moment.

Another thing that has to be kept in mind is that Allu Arjun is entering the pan-India market for the first time. Barring Baahubali, no other film has successfully created records all over. On the other hand, Christmas has been Aamir Khan’s favorite season for over a decade. He has delivered blockbusters and Industry Hits such as Ghajini, 3 Idiots, Dangal, etc. during the Christmas season.

In such a situation, Allu Arjun’s PR team’s activities such as publishing fabricated articles will only damage the Icon Star’s image. Netizens have already started trolling the PR team for its over-zealous activities and for comparisons with Aamir Khan who is undeniably one of the topmost stars in India.
