Liger unit headed to Goa for a crucial schedule

Vijay Devarakonda’s much anticipated Liger is now in its final stages of the shoot. It is a known fact that Vijay plays a boxer in this Puri Jagannath directorial. The film’s unit is now headed to Goa for a month-long schedule. The team will leave for the location next week following which one last schedule is planned which will bring an end to the movie’s shoot.

The movie will have a bunch of massy action scenes in true Puri Jagannath style. Vijay will be essaying the role of a national-level boxer in the first half. Post this, he would move on to the international arena in the second half. Vijay’s massy characterisation and Puri’s intense writing are going to be the high points of the movie. Ramya Krishna will also be playing a crucial role in the movie.

This film stars Ananya Pandey opposite Vijay Deverakonda. Produced under Puri Connects in association with Dharma Productions, the pan-India film will release in Hindi and Telugu. It will also be dubbed in Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada.

Trouble for Mani Ratnam as police case filed against him for cruelty

The Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) has sought an inquiry in connection with the death of a horse here allegedly during the shooting of filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s Tamil historical drama “Ponniyin Selvan”, according to PETA.

A case was filed against the director on August 18th after a horse died on the sets of his film in a private set erected in Hyderabad. The director, along with the owner of the horse have been booked under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and IPC.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) received inside information on this matter directly from the sets. Based on the information of the whistleblower a letter was written to the Hyderabad District Collector. According to the complaint, the remains of the horse were buried in the same ground and a number of horses were similarly used and were tired and dehydrated.

“In the age of computer-generated imagery (CGI), production companies have no excuse for forcing exhausted horses to play at war until one of them drops dead,” said PETA India Chief Advocacy Officer Khushboo Gupta. “Compassionate, forward-thinking filmmakers would never dream of hauling sensitive animals to a chaotic movie set and forcing them to ‘act’. PETA India is calling on director Mani Ratnam to cut the cruelty and switch to modern and humane CGI and other visual-effects technology,” the PETA release further said.

Bheemla Nayak title song criticized by Telangana Police

Bheemla Nayak title song that was released on the occasion of Powerstar Pawan Kalyan’s birthday has received a mixed response. While some claimed to have enjoyed the unusual composition of the song, others have stated that this is by far the weakest title song in Pawan Kalyan’s career.

Amidst these mixed reviews, the song has found another criticism, and it’s coming directly from Telangana police. Expressing his surprise over the song’s lyrics, M Ramesh Kumar, DCP, East Zone said that the song describes police in an absolutely negative light.

“Thankfully, @TelanganaCOPs are #PeopleFriendlyPolice . We don’t break the bones of those whom we are paid to protect ! Surprisingly, @ramjowrites couldn’t find enough words in Telugu to describe the valour of a cop. No mention of service in the song.,” he tweeted.

It will be interesting to see how Ramajogaiah Sastry, the lyricist of the Bheemla Nayak title song responds to this comment from DCP Ramesh Kumar.

Meanwhile, The shooting of the film is going on at a great pace with some key action scenes being shot currently. Sagar Chandra will be directing the remake. Nithya Menen has been roped in for a key role. Aishwarya Rajesh, who was last seen in World Famous Lover will be paired opposite Rana. The film is set to release on 12th January 2022.

Ram Charan’s RC15 with Shankar gets a launch date

Megapower Star Ram Charan’s much-awaited RC15 has finally got a launch date. The film will go on floors on 8th September. Kiara Advani will star opposite Ram Charan in this prestigious project which will be bankrolled by Dil Raju. SS Thaman has been roped in to compose music for this film.

The film was earlier scheduled to go on floors in August as stated by Dil Raju. However, the existing schedules of Charan didn’t permit the launch earlier. The film’s pre-production works have been going at a great pace and the film is slated to be shot in a much quicker time than any of Shankar’s previous films

This film is going to be on an anti-corruption theme. Ram Charan’s character is going to play an anti-corruption crusader in this social drama. This film is going to be unlike any of the other Shankar films. Reportedly, heavy usage of VFX and costly sets that are a part of Shankar’s films will be missing in #RC15.

Disappointing verdict for Tamannaah yet again

Tamannaah’s much-awaited cooking reality show Masterchef premiered earlier this month amidst great expectations. The show was expected to reprise the success of its Hindi versions but has failed terribly. The show’s TRP has not been encouraging at all and it registered an opening mark of just 4.1.

This is Tamannaah’s second continuous failure on the small screen. Her web series 11th Hour that premiered on Aha also didn’t succeed on creating an impact. The show features a bunch of contestants from diverse backgrounds who are given various culinary tasks. The show features Sanjay Thumma, Chalapathi Rao and Mahesh Padala as judges who rate the contestants on their cooking skills.

The show will be made in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada with film stars from the respective languages hosting it. It was earlier rumored that Venkatesh would be hosting the Telugu version.

Fresh problems for Ram Charan-Shankar film

Ram Charan-Shankar prestigious project RC15 is one of the most eagerly awaited films. The film right from its announcement created a massive positive buzz. Kiara Advani has been finalized to join the unit as the female lead in this Dil Raju production.

Everything was going on track till the movie got hit with plagiarism allegations. As reported by a national daily, a writer named Sellamuthu has lodged a complaint with the South Indian Film Writers’ Association, saying that the film’s story was written by him. Sellamuthu, reportedly, has previously worked under Kollywood director Karthik Subbaraj of the recent ‘Jagame Thandhiram’ fame.

No comment has been made from Shankar’s team on this matter yet. It needs to be seen how this issue is handled by the filmmaker.

Meanwhile, Multiple plotlines and theories have been floated about this Ram Charan-Shankar film. Some say that the Mega Power Star will be playing the role of a young and dynamic IAS officer fighting corruption. There is another set that believes that RC15 is going to be a re-adaptation of Shankar’s Mudhavalan (Oke Okkaddu).
