Allu Arjun Rapido AD Lands In Court

A few weeks ago, Rapido, a bike taxi app posted an AD featuring Allu Arjun. Allu Arjun plays a dosa seller, who tells his customer to book a Rapido instead of commuting in a TSRTC bus as Rapido is quicker and safer.

The actor further explains how a commuter in a TSRTC bus transforms from dosa to a masala dosa by the end of the bus ride.

This did not sit right with TSRTC MD VC Sajannar, who sent legal notices to Rapido and Allu Arjun, requesting that the ad be taken down as it shows the transport corporation in a demeaning light.

Following this, Rapido modified their ad slightly, but TSRTC was still shown in poor light according to TSRTC. Due to the ad not being taken down, TSRTC has now approached the court.

The city civil court in Nampally, Hyderabad heard the case on December 3rd, 2021, and has sided with TSRTC. The Xth Junior Civil Judge has restrained Rapido from broadcasting the AD in any form. The court has agreed that the AD is defamatory to TSRTC.

The court has also directed Youtube to block all versions of the AD.

TSRTC MD VC Sajannar has issued a warning to Rapido stating:

Anybody who is found to be flouting the said orders is liable to be prosecuted and advise them to maintain restraint in the light of the court order

Shyam Singha Roy and Nani’s tribute to Sirivennela Garu

Nani and director of SSR(Shyam Singha Roy) Rahul Sankrityan paid tribute to the late great Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry Garu with a song announcement video titled Sirivennela.

The legendary lyricist has written over 2000 songs, in a career spanning over 37 years.

The new single from Shyam Singha Roy titled Sirivennela is the last song that the legend wrote.

Sastry Garu called on 3rd November at night, where the lyricist told the director that due to his poor health he will not be able to complete the song and that he should find someone else.

Immediately, on the next day, Sirivenella Garu called Rahul at 8 AM on Diwali and said:

Pallavi is done, write it down.

Symbolically, Rahul took the nearest book he could find, which was the Mahabharata, and wrote it down.

Noticing that the first line was “Sirivennela“, Rahul asked:

Sir, why have you given your signature for the song?

To which the legend laughed loudly and said:

Bahusa idhi naa akari paata avochu

This very well could be my last song

Nani and the team of SSR have decided to dedicate not only this song to Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry but also the movie, as a tribute.

Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry Garu has also written 2 other songs for Shyam Singha Roy

A snippet of the song was also released along with the video and it sounds melodious. Perhaps the great man knew that this would be his last song and wanted people to remember him by this song.

RRR’s exceptional business in Tamilnadu despite Valimai clash

SS Rajamouli’s RRR has already established itself as one of the biggest brands pan-India way before its release. The film features an enviable starcast of Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, and Alia Bhatt which has led to greater hype. The expectations on the film after the recent promotional content have gone miles high and movie lovers are eagerly waiting for the trailer release on 9th December.

Ahead of its release, the film has already done an exceptional business in Tamilnadu. Despite a clash with Ajith’s much-awaited Valimai, the film has done achieved great numbers.

RRR has gone for Rs 4.5 crores on an MG basis in Trichy territory. This is a huge milestone for a non-Tamil film. Ajith’s Valimai, which is one of the most-awaited Tamil films and has gone for Rs 7.25 cr MG basis in the same region.

Balakrishna’s Akhanda opened to roaring box office collections on 2nd December 2021. It was NBK’s highest-grossing film of all time, collecting over 18 crores in shares on the first day.

The movie received tremendous response from fans in the two Telugu-speaking states. But what is more interesting is that the movie is doing incredibly well in the USA as well, collecting over $700K as of Saturday evening. This is the highest in NBK’s career.

If Akhanda continues its steady form, it is very likely to cross the $1M milestone within a week of its release. Since it is a Sunday, more people will flock to the theatres to witness Balaiya’s rampage onscreen.

FANS OF BALAIYA GOING CRAZY IN DALLAS, TEXAS(USA)

Earlier in the year, LoveStory and Jathi Ratnalu entered the prestigious $1M club in the USA box office, and Akhanda is likely to be added to this prestigious list, becoming only the 55th Telugu film to reach this milestone.

It will be interesting to see if Akhanda can beat the collections of the two Telugu films. Looking at the current trend, that is very possible since there is still time for a big release like Pushpa.

Jathi Ratnalu collected a total gross of $1.05M and Love Story collected a total gross of $1.28M.

Akhanda also stars Pragya Jaiswal, Srikanth, Jagapathi Babu among others, and Boyapati Srinu has directed the film. Akhanda is the third film in the Boyapati-Balakrishna combo, the other two also being super hits.

Malayalam Superstar Mohanlal’s Marakkar directed by Priyadarshan has turned out to be a massive disappointment. The high budget action-adventure was billed to be the Malayalam Baahubali and was made with a massive starcast on a large scale.

The film was released amidst great hype and registered great openings on Day 1. The film, however, failed to sustain the hype and word of mouth led to drastic falls on Day 2. Considering the budget of the film, Mohanlal’s Marakkar is headed towards a huge loss.

Many trade pundits are now stating that OTT would have been a better option for this action-adventure film. Initially, there were reports that the film will go for an OTT release. However, after seeing a positive response to Dulquer Salmaan’s Kurup, the makers went for a theatrical release. This has turned out to be a massive setback for the producers.

RX100 remake Tadap takes a good start at the box-office

Ahan Shetty and Tara Sutaria starrer Bollywood remake of RX100 released on Friday and has made a great start at the box-office. Ahan Shetty is making his debut with the film and the film has indeed surprised many with its strong performance.

Prabhas is undeniably Tollywood’s biggest star at the moment and there are no signs of stopping him. The star actor is now busy with the 2nd schedule of his thriller titled ProjectK.

The 2nd schedule will start today at Annapurna Studios Annexe,7acres in Hyderabad. Prabhas and Deepika will begin shooting for their portions from today.

Mahanati Director Nag Aswin will be helming the project and, it is reportedly being shot on a grand budget of 400cr.

It is now the third time that Prabhas will be working with a Bollywood actress. He worked with Shraddha Kapoor in Saaho in 2019 and recently wrapped up the shoot with Kriti Sanon in Adipurush. It will be exciting to see the on-screen chemistry between this pairing.
