Seeing big hikes in Telangana now audience feel what Jagan did was correct

0

The tale of two Telugu states is quite contrasting when it comes to ticket rates. On one hand, we have AP Government which released G.O. 35 and ordered a fixed slab for ticket rates. On the other side, we have the Telangana government that has ordered astounding hikes in ticket rates

The Telangana government has issued a G.O which has given guidelines to theaters and multiplexes about the increase in prices as per the seating class. The minimum price for tickets in an AC theatre is now Rs 50/- + GST while the maximum price is Rs 150/-+ GST.

Coming to multiplexes, the minimum pricing decided is at Rs 100/- +GST while the max pricing is at Rs 250/-+ GST. In the case of recliners, the maximum pricing has been established as Rs 300+ GST.

In Telangana, the movie ticket rates are increasing continuously, starting with Akhanda then Pushpa Now for RRR Ticket prices have more than doubled. Multiplex chains like PVR have increased their prices by 50%.

These hikes are making people wonder the measures taken by the Jaganmohan Reddy government were actually correct. Now the only thing that AP Government needs to do is bring a G.O that satisfies both exhibitors as well as the people.

AP Government permits the reopening of closed theatres

0

AP government has ordered the reopening of the closed theatres in the state. This order has brought in a sigh of relief to the theatre owners whose centers were seized by officials during raids across the state.

The Andhra Pradesh government has taken serious cognizance of the mismanagement of cinema theatres in the state. The government is also taking the issue of ticket prices quite seriously and conducting surprise checks.

The government has also not been willing to go back on the price rates for quite some time. This decision has put the producers and exhibitors in a spot of bother as they are already reeling under losses due to Covid enforced lockdown.

However, now the AP government has softened its stance on the issue and has permitted the theatres to resume their operations. The theatre owners though will have to fulfill all the compliances and make a request in front of the Joint Collectors. To complete this formality, the government has given one month’s time to the theatre managements.

This decision was taken after R Narayana Murthy along with a delegation met AP I&PR Minister Perni Nani. The minister stated that 83 theatres that were shut down across 9 districts can now function as usual.

Tough time for pan-India releases

0

While 2021 has been a tough period for films in general, there were some films that defied the conditions and scored massive hits. Apart from Pushpa, none of these films were pan-India releases. However, the situation in 2022 is going to be different.

RRR will release on January 7th while Radhe Shyam will release on January 14th. Both these films are much-awaited pan-India films. However, along with the anticipation, there is also a fear that has engulfed fans as well as the makers. The fear of rising cases has created confusion in trade circles.

Section 144 has been imposed in Mumbai starting from today till January 7, 2022, in view of rising Covid cases. Along with this, other states such as Karnataka and Delhi have also imposed restrictions on public gatherings and are in the process of limiting occupancies.

With such restrictions being set up at most places, the release of these films and opening collections of these pan-India projects have come under huge scanner.

Earlier this month, Telangana’s Director of Public Health DR GS Rao stated that from January 15th onwards we will see an influx of new Covid cases. These cases will see a peak in February. This has made situation further worrisome for the filmmakers.

2021 Belongs to Nandamuri Balakrishna- Star of the Year !!

0

2021 was a year where Tollywood saw a lot of ups and downs. The industry saw some unexpected major hits and also saw the Covid crisis and ticket pricing issues shutting the theatres down. Amidst all these lows, one man who lit up the year big time and unarguably became the Star of the year is Nandamuri Balakrishna!

The massive success of Akhanda and the audience’s love showered on his talk show Unstoppable are enough to make this the year of Balayya.

Akhanda was the first biggie released after the Covid 2nd wave. It was indeed a daring step by Balayya to release the movie at such a time. However, the movie stayed true to the hype and ended up as a huge success.

Akhanda was made on a massive budget and released on unseason without any holiday advantage. However, the star power of Balakrishna and his combo with Boyapati pulled not only the mass audience, but families as well across all the territories.

Balakrishna has delivered his career-best performance as Akhanda. The audience felt the real essence of Shiva in Akhanda. The film has done excellent revenues in all territories including Nizam and overseas where normally Balakrishna and Boya movies stand comparatively weak. The numbers of these regions are mind-blowing and the movie turned out to be profitable to each and every exhibitor and Producer.

And in a month like December, the film has run for 4 weeks without a deficit. Hence, whether it is about performance or about the Box-Office, it was the year of Balayya. The veteran star made a solid comeback this year and said “I AM NOT DONE YET”.

Balakrishna’s Akhanda’s OTT and Television premiere details

0

Balakrishna’s Akhanda’s OTT and Television premiere dates have been fixed. While the movie will make its way to Television screens on February 27th, the OTT premiere will be held much earlier i.e. on January 12th.

Balakrishna’s Akhanda will premiere on Star Maa while Disney + Hotstar has acquired the movie rights for the digital premiere.

Akhanda was released on December 2nd worldwide and created a sensation at the box- office. Boyapati Srinu directed this film and it performed well at both domestic as well as overseas box-office.

Akhanda featured Srikanth as protagonist and Jagapathi Babu in a key role. Pragya Jaiswal co-starred as the female lead while SS Thaman delivered soulful music for this film. The film was bankrolled by Miryala Ravinder Reddy under Dwarka Creations Banner.

Thaman gives a strong counter to Nani

0

SS Thaman is one of the most reserved and calm-going people in Tollywood. The music director, however, minces no words when something is said against his craft or his work. Thaman took to Twitter a while ago and posted a couple of Tweets about how all the crafts combine together to make a film successful and how it’s never a single craft that ‘DOMINATES’ anything.

https://twitter.com/MusicThaman/status/1476215103385186304

While this might just come across as a random Tweet, there is actually a lot of hidden meaning behind this statement made by the ‘Akhanda’ music director. His statement was directly targeted at Actor Nani.

Nani, during the promotions of Shyam Singha Roy stated that the music in his film like all other departments was quite equal in terms of importance, and neither did the music nor BGM dominate any other department.

“Music should elevate the movie and not dominate the film. All crafts such as music, BGM, cinematography should combine and work out well. Otherwise, movie will lack harmony,” said Nani.

This statement by Nani was perceived by many as a direct dig to Thaman’s work in Akhanda. Akhanda’s BGM was widely appreciated by many.

The tiff between Nani and Thaman is an old one. The ‘Natural Star’ apparently didn’t like Thaman’s work on Tuck Jagadish and reportedly had him replaced with Gopi Sundar. Thaman, however did compose 5 songs before walking out of the project and the BGM was composed by Gopi.

RRR USA pre-sales bookings update

0

With less than 10 days to go for SS Rajamouli’s RRR, the hype is now at never before levels. The RRR USA pre-sales numbers are proof of the same. The movie has been doing exceptionally well on that front registering record-breaking numbers in the process.

Following is the language wise RRR USA pre-sales booking update:

  • Telugu – $1,359,574
  • Tamil – $3,822
  • Hindi – $5,790

RRR has already crossed the $1.5 million mark with a few unreported and private screening numbers yet to come. The film has established an all-time record premier of Indian cinema with presales only.

The film is expected to have a massive opening domestically as well. The multiplex rates in Nizam are Rs 300/- and Rs 400/. The city single screens are priced at Rs 250/-, Rs 200/-, and Rs 70/- based on the type of theatres. The district prices are Rs 200/-, Rs 150/-, and Rs 70/-.

If all goes to plan RRR will demolish records at the box office that Pushpa established recently in Nizam. Additionally, RRR is also planning for paid premieres from 6th January at 9 PM, one day before release. If things go smoothly, they might also plan for 6 PM shows. The premieres will take place mainly in the two Telugu states, but also in some theatres in India.

Oke Oka Jeevitham Teaser: Entertaining Sci-Fi Drama

0

The teaser of Sharwanand’s Oke Oka Jeevitham is out now, and it promises an entertaining science-fiction drama. The movie is based on the concept of time travel. This is a concept that Telugu cinema has not explored to the fullest, and it will be interesting to see how this film turns out.

So far, the teaser looks highly promising. It helps that the teaser has been edited in a crisp manner to just tease the audience. Sharwanand, Priyadarsi, and Vennela Kishore travel back to their childhood using a time machine. Nasser plays the role of a mad scientist.

The VFX of the movie also looks impressive for the budget.

There also seem to be hints of comedy throughout the movie. This is obvious when you have the top two Telugu comedians in the movie.

The plot of the movie also favors entertaining situations to arise. For example, there is a rule that no one should know that the three are from the future. This could create hilarious situations.

This film is also a very crucial film for Sharwanand. His previous movies like Maha Samudhram and Sreekaram have been failures at the box office, and have also failed to impress the audience. Fans and the general audience will be hoping for this film to succeed.

Oke Oka Jeevitham also stars Amala Akkineni, Ritu Varma among others. Debutant director Shree Karthick has directed the film. Tharun Bhascker has written the dialogues for the film. The music is by Jakes Bejoy.

The film will release in both Telugu as well as Tamil. It is scheduled to release in 2022. Further announcements will be made very soon.
