Sing Geetham is a new-age musical fantasy film directed by legendary filmmaker Singeetham Srinivasa Rao. Produced by Nag Ashwin and presented by veteran producer C. Ashwini Dutt, the film has hit screens worldwide today. Here’s our complete Sing Geetham review.
Story
Set in the fictional village of Kuberapuram, Andhra Pradesh, the story follows a gold mining company led by Brahmayya (played by Benarji) and his daughter, Renu (Shalini Kondepudi). When business partner Pratap (Ayaan) arrives, he encounters Gowri (Ahilya Bamroo), a spirited local woman fighting to protect the village’s last remaining tree from mining operations.
After a tragic incident, Gowri loses faith and curses the village deity, Kubera, for failing to intervene against mounting injustice. This results in a mysterious outcome — all the villagers can no longer talk normally and must communicate only through songs. How the villagers deal with this unexpected curse and find their way back to normalcy forms the rest of the story.
Performances
Ahilya Bamroo delivers a lively and effective performance. From the opening scene to the end, she carries her character with confidence and conviction. Ayaan and Shalini Kondepudi also deliver convincing performances, while Siva Narayana, Benarji, and others provide solid support.
Analysis
Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, known for classics like Aditya 369 and Michael Madana Kama Rajan, comes up with an out-of-the-box concept for Sing Geetham. The film starts on an ordinary note and takes its time to establish the setup. But from the moment the turn arrives in the story, it delivers some unique and entertaining scenes.
The film also delivers a meaningful message about human greed and climate protection. The second half has some effective conversations and emotional scenes, including the backstory, and the climax is satisfying.
The main issue with the film is that both halves have some parts where a repetitive feel pops up, and scenes start to stretch beyond expectations. Still, the film holds together and ends well, as mentioned above.
Positives
Interesting and Unique Plot
Strong Performances
DSP’s Music Works Well
Fun Scenes Involving the Musical Twist
Emotional Scenes in the Second Half
Negatives
Repetitive Feel at a Few Places
Some Stretched Scenes
A Few Crucial Scenes Don’t Deliver the Intended Emotional Impact Because of the Musical Theme
Sing Geetham Review – Final Verdict
Sing Geetham is a well-intentioned musical experiment that carries a thoughtful message. Though the film has some pacing issues and stretched parts, Devi Sri Prasad‘s music and the emotional quotient work well and make it a pleasant watch. Director Singeetham Srinivasa Rao‘s unique vision shines through this experimental musical fantasy.

Coastal Andhra Leads the Charge
Coastal Andhra Pradesh has emerged as the standout performer for Peddi, delivering impressive numbers throughout the first week. The region continues to be a major contributor to the film’s overall Telugu share, maintaining strong footfalls even on weekdays.
All Telugu-state territories need to sustain their performance for the film to successfully cover the theatrical investment and achieve profitability in the coming days.
Second Weekend Crucial
The film has shown encouraging trends during its weekday run, which bodes well for the upcoming weekend. With no major competition and positive word-of-mouth from the first week, Peddi is expected to witness favorable growth on Saturday and Sunday.
The sports action drama, featuring music by A. R. Rahman and a supporting cast including Shiva Rajkumar and Jagapathi Babu, released on June 4, 2026. The second weekend will largely determine whether the film can achieve the momentum needed to reach its breakeven target in the Telugu states.

The film follows his return to 1990s Mumbai to dismantle rival crime lords. It emerged as the biggest grosser of Pawan Kalyan’s career and became the top-grossing Telugu film of 2025, according to The Week.
The film’s success, combined with the character’s massive appeal, has made OG 2 one of the most anticipated sequels in Tollywood. With director Sujeeth currently abroad, fans will have to wait a bit longer for concrete updates on the project’s timeline and production plans.
Hrithik Roshan is reportedly in talks to appear in a special cameo alongside Superstar Rajinikanth in Jailer 2, according to the latest reports. For months, there were huge rumors that Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan would appear in the sequel, but the role may now go to Hrithik instead.
Hrithik Roshan to Share Screen Space with Rajinikanth
Reportedly, Hrithik Roshan is set for a special cameo in Jailer 2, where he will share screen space with Rajinikanth. The shooting of his portions is expected to take place in Chennai by the end of June.
The shooting of Jailer 2 was completed a few months ago, but the team felt that a few portions needed to be reshot, making way for this exciting addition to the cast.
Jailer 2 Cast and Release Details
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures, the film is set for a grand worldwide release later in 2026. Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar, and Jackie Shroff will reprise their characters from the first part of Jailer, while SJ Suryah, Vijay Sethupathi, and many others will join the cast in this highly anticipated sequel.

Ram Charan Joins the Elite Club
Prabhas dominates the list with six films in the 250 Cr first week club, showcasing his massive pan-Indian appeal. Allu Arjun entered this elite group with Pushpa 2, while Pawan Kalyan achieved the feat with They Call Him OG.
While Ram Charan was part of RRR, which collected ₹700 Cr in its first week, that was a multistarrer with Jr NTR. NTR had previously achieved the 250 Cr first week gross as a solo hero with Devara, which collected ₹328 Cr.
Now, with Peddi, Ram Charan has entered the 250 Cr club as a solo lead, joining the ranks of Telugu cinema’s biggest stars. The film’s journey from its delayed April 30 release to this box office success showcases the strong anticipation and wide appeal the sports drama generated.
What This Milestone Means
The 250 Cr first week club represents films with massive openings across India and overseas markets. Achieving this milestone requires not just star power but also strong content that appeals to diverse audiences. Peddi’s entry into this club validates Ram Charan’s market strength and the film’s universal appeal across demographics.
As Peddi continues its theatrical run, industry observers are watching to see where it will finish in the all-time grossers list. The film’s sustained performance in the second week will determine its final position among Telugu cinema’s biggest blockbusters.
Ram Charan’s sports action drama Peddi concluded its first week at the box office with a strong performance, collecting nearly 169 Cr share worldwide across all languages. The film has secured the 6th position among Telugu films with the highest first-week share, placing it ahead of recent blockbusters like Devara and OG.
The Buchi Babu Sana-directed film’s first-week performance puts it in elite company, though it still trails the industry’s biggest juggernauts including RRR, Pushpa 2, and Kalki 2898 AD.

The 200 Cr Milestone Question
Trade analysts are now watching closely to see whether Peddi can cross the coveted 200 Cr share mark in its complete theatrical run. Currently sitting at 168.5 Cr after week one, the film needs approximately 31.5 Cr more to reach this milestone.
The second weekend will be crucial for Peddi’s journey toward 200 Cr. A solid hold in week two, coupled with positive word-of-mouth, could help the film achieve this landmark figure and further cement Ram Charan’s position as one of Telugu cinema’s most bankable stars.
Ram Charan and Buchi Babu’s rural sports drama Peddi opened to disappointing numbers in North America, collecting just $1.56 million in premiere shows. The film secured the 8th position in the all-time Top 10 Telugu premieres list, falling well short of fan expectations.

Below Expectations
The $1.56 million collection is particularly underwhelming in this context. Peddi barely edged past Agnyathavaasi, a film that released eight years ago, which highlights how disappointing the box office performance has been in North America.
Fans had expected Ram Charan’s film to cross the premiere numbers of Devara ($2.85M) or Salaar ($2.6M), but it fell significantly short. The lackluster pre-sales and weak premiere turnout indicate low initial buzz for the rural sports drama in the North American market.
Weekend Outlook
The upcoming weekend will be crucial for Peddi’s North America box office run. While premiere numbers often set the tone, strong word-of-mouth could help the film recover ground. The rural sports drama will need to show significant growth to salvage its overseas performance.
