Nara Rohith Faces Shocking Rejection

Nara Rohith expected his latest film, Sundarakanda, to give him a big break. However, despite getting positive feedback, the actor faces a shocking rejection with the film.

Before the film’s release, many factors helped it, as almost War 2 and Coolie had ended their run in Telugu, and Ravi Teja’s Mass Jathara was also postponed from Vinayaka Chaviti.

This is definitely a big setback for the actor. His previous films’ results and his gap between films have played a big role for audiences not coming to watch his film. Nara Rohit needs to analyze all these things and should come up with a better makeover and continuous good films to stabilize his market.

Hridayapoorvam Posts Good Weekend Numbers

Mohanlal came up with Hridayapoorvam this Onam, after two back-to-back blockbusters, Empuran and Thudaram. Hridayapoorvam posts good numbers on its first weekend at the box office.

Even though the film had a tough competitor in the form of Lokah, which received super positive talk and big craze after the release. Hridayapoorvam succeeded in posting good numbers at the box office with the help of Mohanlal’s stardom.

The film has collected close to 35 Cr gross on the opening weekend, and for its genre/budget, it is definitely a good collection. The film needs to maintain the same momentum on weekdays and should target 70 Cr+ in its full run.

Mohanlal is having a very good year with 2025, as Empuraan, though it received mixed talk, managed to score an industry hit. Another release, Thudarum, put up big benchmarks and became a massive blockbuster, and now Hridayapooravam is also emerging as a success.

Rukmini Vasanth on a Big Release Streak

Actress Rukmini Vasanth becomes one of the top actresses in South Cinema. She rose to fame with the Kannada movie Sapta Saagaradaache Ello: Side A. Now, Rukmini Vasanth is on a big release streak.

In the next year of time, the actress has committed to four movies already, and all are big-budget films. Reportedly, a few more new films will also be added to her lineup.

At first, she has Madharaasi, starring Sivakarthikeyan, scheduled for this week, 5th September release. Rukmini Vasanth also has a big film in her upcoming streak, Kantara: Chapter One, which is scheduled for a 2nd October release.

The actress is also the female lead of NTR-Neel’s film, Dragon, which is announced for a June 2026 release.

Vaa Vaathiyaar Finally Gets a Release Date

Karthi’s Vaa Vaathiyar was supposed to release this summer, but it saw continuous postponements due to financial reasons. Finally, it is officially revealed that the film is releasing in December.

Long Back, the film’s teaser and a song were also released. But as said above, it faced many problems, and the OTT deal was also not settled. Finally, the producers of Karthi’s Vaa Vaathiyaar announced that the film will be releasing in theaters this December. 

Directed by Nalan Kumaraswamy, the film’s music is by Santosh Narayanana, and it is produced by Studio Green. Alongside Karthi in the lead role, Krithi Shetty, Rajkiran, and Sathyaraj appear in crucial roles.

Lokah Creates History with Record-Breaking Weekend

Lokah, the latest Malayalam film released in the Onam competition, emerges as a big winner. Despite the competition with Mohanlal’s Hridayapoorvam, this superhero film creates history with a record-breaking weekend at the box office. 

The film had a huge jump day by day on the opening weekend and collected around 65 Cr gross worldwide. The trade is shocked as Lokah has a record-breaking weekend at the box office.

Directed by Dominic Arun, the film scores the all-time 3rd biggest weekend for Malayalam cinema after Mohanlal’s Empuraan and Thudarm.

The biggest advantage for the film is the numbers also coming from the Telugu States (the Telugu version is titled Kotha Lokah), Tamil Nadu, and the Malayalam belts.

Pawan Kalyan’s OG USA bookings are creating new benchmarks with each passing day and are going on a terrific note. The film becomes Tollywood’s top USA premiere pre-sales film of 2025.

With pre-sales nearing $800K for the North America premieres, OG has already achieved the biggest pre-sales for Tollywood premieres in the USA this year, with 24 days still left before the release.

This year, Ram Charan’s Game Changer’s final pre-sales are around 750K, the Coolie Telugu Version is also in the same range, War 2 is at $560K, and Hari Hara Veera Mallu is at $505K. With 24 days for release, “They Call Him OG” sets the biggest number for this year.

Also, the film is on track to beat Coolie Premieres ($3.05M) to become the biggest opener of this year in America for Indian cinema.

Akhanda 2 Digital and Satellite Partner Details

Balakrishna’s Akhanda 2 is one of the most awaited projects for Telugu cinema this year. The film has been postponed from September 25 due to a delay in VFX. Now, the details of the digital and satellite partners of Akhanda’s sequel are out. 

The latest reports suggest that Akhanda 2’s satellite rights have been acquired by popular Telugu TV channel Star Maa, and the digital rights have been bought by Jio Hotstar. The interesting thing is that the first part’s digital partner is also the same.

The producer, in a recent interview, said that Anushka Shetty’s Ghaati non-theatrical rights have fetched around 50 crores. He said that they closed the deal long back and it was a comfortable price for him.

He also stated that the team is very confident in theatrical success, as the audiences will be delighted to see Anushka on the big screen after a long time.
