Six Telugu Films Releasing For Sankranthi After RRR Exit

Six small-scale Telugu films are releasing for Sankranthi 2022 after the exit of RRR from the race. The makers of RRR announced on New Year that RRR is postponed keeping all parties in mind. This was inevitable due to the rise in Omicron cases as well as ticket rate issues in Andhra Pradesh.

Where there is bad news for RRR, there is joyful news for some small films that have been waiting on the shelves for a long time.

Before mentioning the movies that will release this Sankranthi, it is important to also mention that Radhe Shyam may or may not release for Sankranthi while Bangarraju is confirmed to release on 15th January 2022.

Here are the movies releasing this Sankranthi:

Aadi Sai Kumar’s Atithi Devobhava is releasing on 7th January.

DJ Tillu starring Siddhu Jonalagadda is a romantic thriller that had an interesting teaser. It will release on 14th January.

Rowdy Boys starring Anupama Parameswaran and Ashish might release on the 14th or 15th.

Super Machi starring Kalyaan Dev, Rachita Ram, and Rhea Chakroborty will release this Sankranthi as well.

Mahesh Babu’s nephew Ashok Galla’s debut movie Hero will also release this Sankranthi. Niddhi Agerwal also stars in this film.

MS Raju’s son Sumanth Aswin will also have a release with 7 Days 6 Nights, a romantic new-age comedy.

These are the confirmed Telugu Sankranthi films for 2022. They will have a tough time competing with Bangarraju.

Saana Kastam From Acharya Out On This Date

The third and latest single titled Saana Kastam from Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Acharya has been given a release date. The makers released a peppy promo today where Chiranjeevi is romancing Regina Cassandra.

The promo showed us a glimpse of Chiranjeevi’s dance moves and Regina Cassandra’s sizzling body. This is Regina’s first special song in a movie. It is common for actresses to star in these types of special numbers to boost their popularity among the masses.

Top actresses like Kajal Aggarwal, Tamannah Bhatia, and Samantha Ruth Prabhu have done the same.

Saana Kastam will release on 3rd January 2022 at 4:05 PM.

Acharya also stars Ram Charan, Pooja Hegde, and Kajal Aggarwal in prominent roles. Koratala Siva is the director of the movie, and Niranjan Reddy has produced the film. Mani Sharma is the music director of the movie.

Radhe Shyam receiving humongous OTT offers, Will the makers accept it?

The present situation of rising Covid cases and restricted occupancies have made situation quite tough for the pan-India biggies. While RRR has already postponed its release, all eyes are now on Radhe Shyam. As per reports, the makers of this romantic epic drama are receiving massive offers from OTT giants.

The offer price from one of the OTT bigshots is about Rs 250 cr which is the biggest for any Indian movie to date. As per inside info, the makers are seemingly happy with the offers and have now started considering various options. The producers of the movie- UV Creations have reportedly also placed a counteroffer of Rs 350 cr. It needs to be seen what decision is taken on the matter. An update on the same will be out in the next 2-3 days.

A number of states such as Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Haryana among many others have imposed occupancy restrictions or are in plans of doing so. Mumbai, which is the largest market for Hindi films has already extended section 144 till January 15th. In such a case the makers of Radhe Shyam are left with only two options. Either postpone the release like RRR or go for the tempting OTT offers in hand. Releasing the film on the decided 14th January will be nothing but suicidal for the entire unit.

Shyam Singha Roy heading towards hit status

Nani’s Shyam Singha Roy has got off to a decent start. Both Nani and Sai Pallavi’s performance in the film has received widespread accolades. The movie released last week amidst great positive buzz. The word of mouth has been great for the movie. Despite the slowish start in the initial week, the film has picked up well over the course of time.

The film had an extraordinary start on the new year day and looking at numbers, it is heading towards a Hit status. Just the Nizam share on 1st January was around Rs 1 crore and the breakeven will be done soon.

The same is the case in Ceeded & overseas where more than 80% recovery by today. The film is all set to achieve the breakeven mark easily.

Nani’s Shyam Singha Roy set in Kolkata explores the theme of reincarnation. The makers left no stone unturned to ensure the movie gets a grand look. For this purpose, a lavish set was also erected in the city outskirts. It is reported that the set cost the makers a whopping Rs 6.5 crores and was spread across 10 acres.

Sai Pallavi and Krithi Shetty were be seen opposite Nani. After successive OTT releases such as V and Tuck Jagadish, this was Nani’s first theatrical release and it has definitely satisfied his fans and movie lovers.

Bankrolled under Niharika Entertainment banner, Mickey J Meyer composed music for this supernatural thriller. The film also has the additional cast of Madonna Sebastian, Rahul Ravindran and Murali Sharma in key roles.

Akhil Akkineni is currently in the best shape of his life for his role in Agent. It is clearly visible how hard he has worked to get this chiseled body.

Akhil was going through a rough patch with back-to-back flops at the box office. His debut film Akhil was a disaster while Hello! and Mr. Majnu both flopped at the collection box.

He desperately needed to score a hit to stay relevant. In 2021, he bounced back with Most Eligible Bachelor and scored a super hit, impressing the Telugu audiences. The buzz around that film has transferred to Agent which is generating a lot of hype among Tollywood circles.

One of the main reasons for this is the actor’s new macho look for Agent. Akhil is in the best shape of his life for the movie. He has stated in interviews that he had to follow a strict diet plan regularly even through lockdown even though there was no shooting because he couldn’t lose that shape.

Hard work most definitely pays off but it is also important to mention that a chiseled body alone will not work. The story, direction, and acting need to deliver as well. We have seen this with the failures of Lakshya and Sridevi Soda Center this year alone.

However, Agent is the love child of the most successful writer-director duo Vakkantham Vamsi and Surender Reddy. They have produced gems like Kick and Race Gurram and there is no doubt that Agent will also be added to the list of gems.

The film also stars Sakshi Vaidya and Malayalam legend Mammooty will be playing the role of an antagonist. The film is a spy thriller where Akhil plays an Agent and Mammooty plays an army officer. Music is by Hip-hop Tamizha who has previously worked with Surender Reddy in Dhruva.

2022 Day 1 Tollywood Box-office Status

Tollywood had a great 2021 with a series of blockbusters and unexpected hits lighting up the screens. Movies such as Akhanda, Pushpa, and Shyam Singha Roy brought a great end to the year and continued their winning ways at the Day 1 Tollywood box office.

Nani’s Shyam Singha Roy and Allu Arjun’s Pushpa both collected around Rs 2 crores share in the Telugu states. Pushpa released on 17th December while Shyam Singha Roy released on 24th December and moved into its second week in the new year.

Balakrishna’s Akhanda which is turning out to be immensely profitable across territories also had a successful Day 1 at the box office. The action entertainer grossed around Rs 1 crore in the Telugu states. The Day 1 Tollywood box-office numbers of these films surely indicate a positive trend. With no biggies releasing till Sankranti, these films can have an extended good run for sure.

Pushpa The Rise completed its two weeks run at the box office. After an average 1st week the film has collected a share of Rs 13crs in its 2nd-week run. Overall the film has managed to collect a share of Rs 97Crs.

Meanwhile, Balakrishna’s Akhanda continued its stupendous run at the box office in its fourth week as well. The film has collected a solid 66.8 crores worldwide after 4 weeks and is still going strong in many areas.

Nani’s Shyam Singha Roy has managed to collect a share of 14crs in its first weekend and a share of Rs 18.03crs worldwide.

Icon Star Allu Arjun has established himself as a star to reckon with in the last few years. Now, with Pushpa, he has proven that he can not just shoulder a movie’s plot but even the entire marketing as well. The performance part has been discussed quite a lot but along with in-movie performance, Allu Arjun also stood as the backbone of Pushpa. Now, as we can all see, the result is massive. Despite receiving mixed reviews, the revenue that it has generated in other languages is massive. There is n doubt that Allu Arjun is the sole driving factor behind Pushpa’s success and it won’t be wrong to give him the entire credit.

Recent Release Muddy Now Available On OTT In Telugu

The recently released multi-lingual action drama Muddy is now available on OTT in Telugu. Muddy was released in theatres on 10th December amidst a lot of hype. The film was marketed as India’s first mud race movie, and the trailer and glimpses from the film raised the hype even more.

The film also received an overwhelmingly positive response at the box office, collecting over 5 crores in the first 2 days. But the film slowed down in the coming days and failed to recover its budget of 30 crores.

The film has received good reviews from movie lovers across India, with an IMDb rating of 9.1.

The first look of Sudheer Babu and Krithi Shetty starrer Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali is out now. The first look shows the two actors in a romantic avatar.

Sudheer Babu has failed to register a hit at the box office for a while now. His previous movies have all been flops at the box office or failed to entertain the audiences, with the exception of Sammohanam which was above average at the box office.

Coincidentally Sammohanam is also directed by Mohana Krishna Indraganti who is the director of this film as well. He desperately needs this film to work to advance to greater heights in his career.

However, the director’s last collaboration with Sudheer Babu “V”, failed to impress the audiences. He will be looking for redemption this time around.

Krithi Shetty on the other hand is on a roll with back-to-back successes. She shot to fame with Uppena and impressed people with her role in the recently released Shyam Singha Roy.

Mohana Krishna Indraganti usually cooks up interesting stories and one can only hope that this movie will be worthy of praise.

The cast and crew of the film are yet to be announced but it is expected to come out soon. Mythri Movies have bankrolled the project.

Mahesh Babus’s Nephew Ashok Galla’s Debut Movie Hero Joins Sankranthi Race

Ashok Galla’s debut film Hero has now joined the Sankranthi race along with Bangarraju and Radhe Shyam. Ashok Galla who is the son of TDP minister Jayadev Galla and nephew of Superstar Mahesh Babu is now making his entry to Tollywood with his debut film titled Hero.

The conversation around nepotism has been a constant in the Telugu film industry. This will no doubt raise voices once again. But as always, if the actor proves himself/herself, the Telugu audience always accepts them with open arms.

The makers of the film have announced that the film will release on 15th January amidst the other biggie releases. This is an interesting choice as it will be competing with both Prabhas’ Radhe Shyam and Nagarjuna’s Bangarraju. It is very unlikely that this will film will triumph the other two biggies.

Hero also stars Niddhi Agerwal, Jagapathi Babu, Naresh, and Vennela Kishore among others. Sriram Aditya is the director of the film. His prominent works include Devadas and Bhale Manchi Roju.
