In a year that saw multiple pan-India releases, Mahesh’s craze and terrific response to trailer and movie songs ensured that the hype and buzz for Sarkaru Vaari Paata stays on par with everything else. Parasuram’s confidence on the subject and glimpse of vintage Mahesh from the promotional content has further hyped this release. Story: Sarkaru Vaari Paata follows the story of Mahesh (Mahesh Babu) who runs a private lending company in the USA. His traumatic past has turned him into an astute money lender who can go to any extent to recover his money. Kalaavathi (Keerthy Suresh) enters his life and loans $10,000 from him. This transaction brings a massive change to his life and brings him to India where he realizes there is a much bigger battle to be fought in form of Rajendranath (Samuthirkani). How Mahesh tackles this and what is the connection of this battle to his past is what Sarkaru Vaari Paata explores.
Performances: Super Star Mahesh Babu is the anchor of Sarkaru Vaari Paata and gives a performance that will engross not just the fans but even the general movie audience. His character is well sketched out with great scope for performance and he doesn’t disappoint and shoulders the entire movie brilliantly. The audience will definitely get the best of Mahesh in this film and whether it is fights, emotional scenes, comedy, or even the dances, he has given his all providing complete value for your movie ticket. Keerthy Suresh as Kalaavathi gives a fine performance and is not just a glam doll but a vital cog in the wheel. She looks great on screen and holds strong and steady in scenes with Mahesh and has a terrific screen presence. Her scenes with Mahesh in the first half are the movie’s highlight. Samuthirakani as Rajendranath is dependable as ever and although there is not much freshness in his character, he proves to be a solid antagonist and gives a strong performance. Vennela Kishore is great as always and lights up the first half with his comic timing. His comic timing scenes with Mahesh are some of the movie’s highlights. The rest of the cast including Subbaraju, Nadiya, Tanikella Bharani are well cast and bring great push to the story.
Analysis: Sarkaru Vaari Paata tackles a pretty relevant and crucial issue that impacts all our lives. Mahesh gives a terrific performance as a man deeply passionate about money and recovery. However, it’s the writing that halts the otherwise smooth flow of the movie. Certain scenes look repetitive and forced in the film and impact the overall look. The first half pushed the entertainment sky high and successfully engrosses the audience but the second half fails to match that momentum. Thaman who usually comes up with high voltage BGM has disappointed in this film. His background score especially in the fight scenes could have been better.

Verdict: Sarkaru Vaari Paata has given us vintage Mahesh who exceeds in all the departments. Parasuram’s writing could have been better but he makes sure he used Mahesh’s impeccable timing to the full extent. Superstar’s charming performance and a full dose of entertainment make Sarkaru Vaari Paata a great watch.
