Popular producer Dil Raju held a press conference today, on 26th May. During the meeting, he responded to a number of issues, including the issue of exhibitors-distributors-producers and AP Government’s response. Dil Raju responds to the theatre controversy and tries to clear the confusion.

The renowned producer spoke about issues such as the recent exhibitors/theatres controversy in Godavari districts, Pawan Kalyan’s Hari Hara Veera Mallu release, piracy issues, and lack of unity in the chamber. He said that the issue of the rental vs. percentage system has been going on for a long time, but the industry is unable to find an amicable solution.

Dil Raju agrees that there is a dispute between Exhibitors and Distributors

According to Dil Raju, the exhibitors had raised their grievances in the Godavari districts on April 19, and he came to know about the issue in the guild meeting held on April 26. He clarified that there was a dispute between the demands of the exhibitors and the distributors.

Dil Raju talks about the Game Changer Piracy

The Game Changer producer also spoke about the film’s piracy and allegations against him. He revealed that Pawan Kalyan’s film was supposed to be released in May, but it was postponed, and explained that there are a total of 370 single screens in Nizam, out of which 30 are owned by him, 90 by Asian Sunil/Suresh, and the remaining 250 are managed by owners.

He said that piracy of ‘Game Changer’ has caused a loss to everyone, and he felt bad when a new channel stated the statement of another producer who alleged that Raju himself did the piracy of the film.

“Exhibitors have been with us for the last 30 years, and despite the assurance given to the exhibitors in the chamber, they have not spoken to the government,” he said. Dil Raju responds to the theatre controversy and tries to clear up the confusion.

There was no decision taken to shut down the theaters – Dil Raju

Raju clarified that a meeting of exhibitors was held on May 18, but there is no truth in the word ‘theatres bandh.’ “No one knows what happened in the chamber. We wanted to put up a meeting and talk about the percentage policy,” he said. He also stated that there was no chance of a bandh without any discussion, and there was wrong communication from the media about the entire issue.

Dil Raju says that there is no unity in the Telugu Cinema Industry

When asked about why the Chamber did not respond at the correct time, Dil Raju stated that the media should be careful before posting the news of such big issues. He also said that there is no unity in the film industry, be it producers, distributors, or exhibitors.

Pawan Kalyan’s Hari Hara Veera Mallu release also got caught in between this theatre strike controversy, and Dil Raju clarified that no one had the information of the film’s release in June, and no one has the guts to shut down theatres when a film starring Pawan is releasing.

There are no “Aa Naluguru” in the industry – Dil Raju

Raju also said that the issue of theatre owners/exhibitors started with one exhibitor in East Godavari, but his name is being dragged by the media without any reason. He said that he is not a part of “Aa Naluguru”, a term coined by the media and said that it should find a new name/term to use against him or other producers.

Earlier, the film was slated to release on 10th April, but this has been postponed for many reasons. Recently, Director Maruthi excited the Netizens with a fresh announcement from the film, likely the Teaser.

Prabhas’ is also busy with his other commitments, which will release in the coming years. Till then, The Raja Saab will surely fill the gap.

Dil Raju and Suresh Babu under pressure

0

Recently, the decision to hold a ban on screening films by the Theatre management across the Telugu States surprised many. This didn’t go well with Tollywood Actor cum Politician Pawan Kalyan who came out strongly against them. AP Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh also blamed few individuals as the reason behind this decision.

As per speculations, these are Dil Raju and his cousin Sirish, Suresh Babu, Asian Cinemas Sunil Narang, Mythri Movie Makers and lastly Allu Aravind. These people had been targeted on the social media platforms when this decision was taken by the Theatre management. But Allu Aravind was quick enough to hold a press conference where he said that he was not part of this decision or the group.

But there are other individuals who haven’t commented yet. Netizens also demand especially Dil Raju and Suresh Babu to come out and put their version just like Allu Aravind. There is a big debate currently on this issue, and if these Producers remain silent then it will only make it worse.

Akhanda 2 and The Raja Saab in Line for Sankranthi 2026

With Sankranthi 2026 shaping up as a prime release window, only Mega157 has been officially announced so far. This leaves ample room for another biggie to capitalize on the lucrative holiday season. Two strong contenders emerging for the sankranti race are Akhanda 2 and The Raja Saab.

Although Akhanda 2 was initially announced for a September 25, 2025 release, the recent confirmation of OG occupying that date makes a postponement almost certain. This opens up December or Sankranthi as the most viable alternatives for the Balakrishna-starrer. Given the franchise’s popularity and mass appeal, a Sankranthi release could amplify its reach significantly. On the other hand, The Raja Saab still has portions of song shoots and heavy CG work pending, making an immediate release unrealistic.

However, Sankranthi offers the ideal timeframe for the makers to wrap up post-production efficiently while also benefiting from the extended holiday period. Interestingly, both films are gearing up to launch their teasers within the next two weeks. Their promotional strategies could give strong hints about which project will lock the coveted Sankranthi slot. As it stands, fans eagerly await clarity, hoping at least one of these films makes it to the festive box office race.

Major Price Mismatch for Hari Hara Veera Mallu in Telugu States

Just weeks before its release, the highly anticipated film Hari Hara Veera Mallu faces setbacks..  A key cause of this delay is the large difference between the rates given by producers and the offers made by distributors. According to reports, producers are demanding a huge Rs. 140-150 crore for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana rights, but distributors are only ready to spend roughly Rs 110 crore.  This results in a large 30% valuation gap, causing concerns among trade circles.

One of the primary reasons for this gap is the perceived lack of strong buzz around the film. Despite Power Star Pawan Kalyan’s immense fan base, the promotional content so far hasn’t created the expected impact. The songs released did not gain much traction, and more importantly, the theatrical trailer is yet to be released. Distributors are holding back, waiting to gauge the film’s potential through the trailer.

To bridge this gap and generate strong momentum, the makers must release a power-packed trailer that can assure distributors of the film’s box-office potential. A compelling trailer could be the turning point in closing the business deals and setting the stage for a grand Sankranti release.

Janasena Strongly Counters Theatres Strike

Andhra Pradesh Cinematography and Tourism Minister Sri Kandula Durgesh has directed the Home Department’s Chief Secretary, Kumar Vishwajit, to initiate a detailed investigation into the exhibitors’ decision to shut down theatres from June 1. The directive comes amid rising concerns that a group of individuals may be influencing this move for vested interests.

Reports have surfaced suggesting that certain parties are exerting pressure to close theatres ahead of the release of the much-anticipated film ‘Hari Hara Veera Mallu’. In response, Minister Durgesh held discussions with top officials to look into the background of this abrupt decision and identify those responsible.

He further stressed the need to examine whether exhibitors and distributors have formed a cartel and are collectively making decisions that could harm the industry. The government aims to understand the wider implications of this potential shutdown, including the number of films that may be affected and the resulting impact on tax revenues.

The state is now gathering comprehensive data to assess the financial and cultural consequences of the proposed theatre closure. Authorities are committed to ensuring transparency and protecting the interests of filmmakers, theatre owners, and audiences alike.
