జనవరి 14న విడుదలైన విజయ్ వారసుడు సినిమాకు మిశ్రమ స్పందనలు, టాక్ వచ్చాయి. రష్మిక మందన్న హీరోయిన్ గా నటించిన ఈ సినిమా తమిళ వెర్షన్ ఇప్పటికే జనవరి 11న విడుదల కాగా, సాంకేతిక కారణాల వల్ల తెలుగు వెర్షన్ మూడు రోజులు ఆలస్యంగా విడుదలైంది. కాగా ఈ సినిమాకు మొదటి రోజు పేలవంగా సాగింది.

ఫెస్టివల్ హాలిడే రోజున విడుదల ఉన్నప్పటికీ ఈ సినిమా ఎక్కడా హౌస్ ఫుల్ లను నమోదు చేసి గట్టి వసూళ్లు సాధించలేకపోయింది. పండగ రోజు శనివారం తెలుగు వెర్షన్ విడుదలవుతుందని ప్రకటించినప్పుడు తెలుగు రాష్ట్రాల్లో ఈ సినిమా చాలా పెద్ద ఎత్తున ఓపెనింగ్స్ సాధిస్తుందని చాలా మంది భావించారు.

తెలుగు దర్శకుడు, నిర్మాతతో పాటు విజయ్ స్టార్ డమ్ కూడా ఈ సినిమాకు ప్లస్ పాయింట్ అవుతుందని భావించినా ఆ అంశాలు ఏవీ వర్కవుట్ కాకపోవడం, పేలవమైన సంఖ్యలు అందరికీ ఆశ్చర్యం కలిగిస్తున్నాయి.

తెలుగు రాష్ట్రాల్లోని ప్రేక్షకులు ఎన్నో తెలుగు సినిమాల్లో లెక్కలేనన్ని సార్లు చూసిన సుపరిచిత కథతో వారసుడు ప్రేక్షకుల ముందుకు వచ్చాడు. ప్లాట్ పరంగా ఫ్రెష్ నెస్ లేదు, అయితే చాలా వరకు సన్నివేశాలలో ఫన్ ఉండేలా చేయడంలో విజయ్ సక్సెస్ అయ్యారు. కొన్ని మంచి పాటలు కూడా ఉన్నప్పటికీ ఈ చిత్రం తెలుగు ప్రేక్షకులను ఆకట్టుకోవడంలో విఫలమైంది.

రష్మిక మందన్న, శరత్ కుమార్, జయసుధ, శ్రీకాంత్, శ్యామ్, ప్రకాష్ రాజ్ కీలక పాత్రల్లో నటించిన చిత్రం ‘వారసుడు’. వంశీ పైడిపల్లి దర్శకత్వం వహించిన ఈ చిత్రాన్ని దిల్ రాజు యొక్క శ్రీ వెంకటేశ్వర సినిమా బ్యానర్ పై నిర్మించారు.

ఆచార్య సినిమా విడుదలై 9 నెలలు గడుస్తున్నా ఇప్పటికీ మెగాస్టార్ చిరంజీవి కారణంగా ఈ సినిమా వార్తల్లో నిలుస్తోంది. అప్పుడప్పుడూ ఆయన చేసిన వ్యాఖ్యలు, స్టేట్ మెంట్స్ చూస్తుంటే పూర్తిగా దర్శకుడి తప్పిదమే సినిమా ఫలితాన్ని దెబ్బతీసిందని చెప్పడానికి ప్రయత్నిస్తున్నట్లు అర్థమవుతోంది.

ఈ మధ్య కాలంలో ప్రతి మీడియా ఇంటరాక్షన్ లోనూ దర్శకుడు కొరటాల శివ చేసిన తప్పులను పరోక్షంగా ఎత్తి చూపడానికి కారణాలను చిరంజీవి వెతుక్కుంటున్నట్టు కనిపిస్తుంది.

శనివారం హైదరాబాద్ లో జరిగిన వాల్తేరు వీరయ్య సక్సెస్ మీట్ లో మెగాస్టార్ చిరంజీవి మరోసారి కొరటాల శివను టార్గెట్ చేశారు. బడ్జెట్ పరిమితుల్లో సినిమాను సకాలంలో పూర్తి చేయడంలోనే దర్శకుడి విశ్వసనీయత ఉంటుందని, అంతే కానీ పెద్ద హిట్లు ఇవ్వడం, సాలిడ్ స్క్రిప్ట్ లు రాయడం కాదని చిరు అన్నారు.

టాలీవుడ్ యంగ్, సీనియర్ డైరెక్టర్స్ అందరూ కాస్త బాధ పడ్డా ఈ విషయాన్ని ఒప్పుకోవాలని చిరు అన్నారు. ఈ సందర్భంగా చిరు ఏ దర్శకుడి పేరు చెప్పకపోయినా కొరటాల శివ గురించే మాట్లాడుతున్నారని అందరికీ అర్థమైంది.

కొరటాల శివ తెలుగు చిత్ర పరిశ్రమలో అత్యంత విజయవంతమైన దర్శకులలో ఒకరు. మిర్చి, శ్రీమంతుడు, జనతా గ్యారేజ్, భరత్ అనే నేను లాంటి నాలుగు సూపర్ హిట్స్ ఇచ్చారు. ఇక ఆయన చిరంజీవి, రామ్ చరణ్ లతో సినిమా అనౌన్స్ చేసినప్పుడు అంచనాలు భారీగానే ఏర్పడ్డాయి.

అయితే ఆచార్య భారీ డిజాస్టర్ అయ్యింది. ఈ సినిమా బాక్సాఫీస్ వద్ద బోల్తా కొట్టినప్పటి నుంచి చిరంజీవి పరోక్షంగా కొరటాల శివను టార్గెట్ చేస్తూ సినిమా ఫెయిల్యూర్ కు ఆయనే కారణమని ఒక రకంగా ఆరోపిస్తున్నారు. అయితే ఈ విషయం పై చిరంజీవి కొద్ది రోజుల క్రితం స్పందించారు.

వివిధ కార్యక్రమాల్లో తాను చేసిన వ్యాఖ్యలు సినీ పరిశ్రమ శ్రేయస్సు కోసమేనని, సెట్స్ పైకి వెళ్లే ముందు దర్శకులు ప్రతి విషయాన్ని కాగితం పైన రాసుకోవాలి చిరంజీవి అన్నారు. 4 గంటల సినిమా షూట్ చేసి ఆ పైన గంట ట్రిం చేయడం కంటే 3 గంటల లోపు ఉండే స్క్రీన్ ప్లేను వర్కవుట్ చేస్తే చాలా ప్రొడక్షన్ ఖర్చులు ఆదా అవుతాయి అని ఆయన అన్నారు.

అయితే ఇది సాధారణ ప్రకటన అని, కొరటాల శివ పై కామెంట్ చేసే ఉద్దేశం తనకు లేదని చిరంజీవి అన్నారు. నేను కొరటాలను టార్గెట్ చేయలేదని, ఆయన పై ఎలాంటి వ్యాఖ్యలు చేయలేదని మరోసారి క్లారిటీ ఇస్తున్నానని మెగాస్టార్ చిరంజీవి అన్నారు. కానీ ఆయన నోటి వెంట దర్శకుడు అన్న మాట వస్తె చాలు కొరటాల శివను అందరూ స్మరించుకుంటున్నారు.

Shobu Yarlagadda has been one of the strongest forces behind the colossal success of Baahubali 1 and 2. His marketing genius coupled with a unique outreach strategy helped Baahubali cross the boundaries and become a massive phenomenon worldwide. Even Rajamouli has gone on record to say that without Shobu, it would have been impossible for the epic action film to achieve the cult status that has today.

Now, as per reports, Shobu has once again lent his hand of support for Rajamouli’s RRR as well. While he is not involved with RRR as a producer he is reportedly now financially backing it for its Oscar campaign. A typical Oscar campaign requires heavy marketing, touring and outreach activities and Shobu seems to be the right guy to handle these alongside Rajamouli.

RRR has spent crores of money after the release for Oscar campaign. Producer DVV Danayya is not at all involved in this. The industry talk is Baahubali producer Shobu has provided financially supported for this campaign and he even attended each and every campaign with the RRR team

It’s been 9 months since Acharya movie’s release, but still, it is circulating in the news because of Megastar Chiranjeevi. Now and then, his comments and statements indicate it was purely the director’s misjudgment and mistake that cost the film’s result.

It baffled the audience that he is searching for reasons to point out the mistakes of director Koratala Siva indirectly during every media interaction in recent times.

In the success meet of Waltair Veerayya held in Hyderabad on Saturday, Megastar Chiranjeevi once again targeted Koratala Siva with his remarks about film making. He asserted that a director’s credibility lies in completing the film on time within the budget constraints, but not on delivering big hits and writing solid scripts.

Chiranjeevi said all young and senior directors of Tollywood should accept this fact, though it appears to hurt them. Although Chiru didn’t name any director’s name, everybody understood that he’s talking about Koratala Siva.

Koratala Siva is one of the most successful directors in the Telugu film industry. He delivered four super hits Mirchi, Sreemanthudu, Janatha Garage, and Bharat Ane Nenu in a row. Expectations were high when he announced the film with Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan.

However, Acharya became a massive disaster. Ever since the movie was bombed at the box office, Chiranjeevi has been indirectly targeting Koratala Siva and blaming him for the movie’s failure. However, Chiranjeevi responded to this issue a few days ago.

Chiranjeevi said that his comments at various events were for the general well-being of the film industry, and he stated directors should take everything on paper before going to set. Rather than shooting 4-hours of cinema and trimming out an hour later, it’s better to work out a screenplay that will be under 3-hours, such that lots of production costs will be saved.

Chiranjeevi told this is a general statement, and he has no intentions of commenting on Koratala Siva. “Once and for all, I’m giving clarity that I’ve not targeted Koratala or made any remarks against him” said Megastar Chiru, clearing the air officially.

Vijay’s Varasudu released on 14th January to mostly mixed reviews and word of mouth. Starring Rashmika Mandanna in the lead role, the film’s Tamil version was already released on 11h January and technical delays led to the Telugu version releasing later. Day 1 was a poor one for the movie.

Despite of festival holiday, the film failed to register housefuls anywhere. When it was announced that the Telugu version will release on Saturday, the festival day, most felt that the movie will open very big in Telugu states.

Having a Telugu director, Producer along with Vijay’s stardom was expected to be a plus point but the factors didn’t work and the poor numbers are surprising. In Telugu states, Varasudu came across as a familiar tale that we have seen countless times in Telugu movies. Plot-wise there’s no freshness and it was Vijay, who to a large extent managed to bring fun to the proceedings. Despite some decent songs, the film failed to attract Telugu audience.

Vijay’s Varasudu also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Sarathkumar, Jayasudha, Srikanth, Sham, and Prakash Raj in key roles. Dil Raju’s Sri Venkateswara Cinema bankrolled this project directed by Vamsi Paidipally.

OTT: Netflix is the Digital Partner for 16 Telugu Movies, including Mahesh Babu’s SSMB28

On the occasion of Sankranti, Netflix announced last night that 16 upcoming Telugu films will soon arrive at their floor. These films will first get theatrical releases and will then available to stream on the platform. Last year, the streaming giant got the rights of globally recognized RRR along with Nani’s Shyam Singha Roy, and Ante Sundaraniki.

This time, the line-up includes both big and small films, and one of them is the much awaited Mahesh Babu’s SSMB28, which is directed by Trivikram, who churned out Netflix’s most-streamed Indian film in 2020, Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo.

Anushka Shetty, who has been missing from action for a few days, will be returning this year with her yet-to-be-titled film.
