It is common knowledge that Liger is a disastrous venture. The film was released with much hype and elevation from the makers but the result was a unanimous disaster. The movie suffered humongous losses in most areas and the exhibitors are now suffering the repercussions of those elevations.
In a recent turn of events, after Puri’s leaked phone call, the exhibitors and distributors are saying that the director is trying to escape from the Liger losses. They believe that Puri is blaming them but in reality, the movie has been done on an advance basis with recovery terms and compensations promised. The makers have promised the recovery amount but there have been no compensations.
Each time, the makers are delaying by saying that the money has not yet come. The fact is that the makers have made huge profits with Liger due to the OTT and on-theatrical deals. The exhibitors added that the recovery amount is very little and yet they are delaying so much.
We will have to wait and see how this situation plays out. Puri Jagan’s future projects are also in dilemma after the failure of Liger. His dream project Jana Gana Mana has also been shelved.
