BREAKING: West Bengal has banned The Kerala Story Movie

The CM of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee announced a ban on Sudipto Sen’s film The Kerala Story. The film landed in controversy since the release of its trailer. The trailer was criticized for claiming earlier that 32,000 girls from Kerala had disappeared and later joined ISIS.

The news channels quoted Mamata Banerjee saying, “West Bengal govt has decided to ban the movie The Kerala Story. This is to avoid any incident of hatred and violence, and to maintain peace in the state.” She also said, “What is The Kashmir files? It is to humiliate one section. What is The Kerala story?.. It is a distorted story.” Reacting to the decision, film producer Vipul Shah said, “If that is what she has done, we will take legal action. Whatever is possible under the provisions of law, we will fight.”

Recently, The Kerala Story was banned from theaters in Tamil Nadu. President of Tamil Nadu Theatre and Multiplex Owners Association, M Subramaniam, confirmed the decision and told the Media, “The film was only shown in a few multiplexes owned by pan-India groups, mostly PVR. Locally owned multiplexes had already decided not to show the film, as it did not have any popular stars. In Coimbatore, for instance, there were two shows so far—one on Friday and one on Saturday. Even those did not do well. Given that, theaters decided that it was not worth going through the threat of protests and such.”

The Kerala Story stars Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani and Sonia Balani in the lead roles. Directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, the film triggered a massive controversy, with many calling it a propaganda film. Many thought that the movie might get completely banned.

However, the controversies or the bans have failed to affect the success of The Kerala Story at the box office as the film collected a net of 35 Crores first 3 days, which is a phenomenal number.

It is very well known to everyone that the 3D version trailer of Adipurush will be premiered in 104 theaters across the Telugu States tomorrow. Adipurush Telugu trailer was premiered in the most famous multiplex in Hyderabad, AMB Cinemas on today at 4 PM for Press/Media people. Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Om Raut and Producer Bhushan Kumar had attended this premier. The response to this premier was much awaited by everyone and the talk about the trailer was quite positive, however the decision of the makers to show the trailer in one day advance to the media appears to be a bad one.

The Kerala Story does phenomenal numbers at the box office on 1st weekend

Director Sudipto Sen’s controversial film, The Kerala Story, hit the screens on Friday. On its release, the film surprisingly received poor reviews from the Bollywood critics, but the film seems to have impressed the audience, as it is proved by the good start it got at the box office. However, the movie was not screened in Kerala, despite the high court to stay the release of the movie.

The bans and calls for boycotts have not been able to affect the film’s box office performance. The Kerala Story does phenomenal numbers at the box office on its 1st weekend. The movie has shown exceptional growth in the numbers from day to day. According to the Bollywood Trade Circles reports, On the first day, The Kerala Story collected 8 Crores net in India.

On the second day the film got 11 Crores Net and on the third day, i.e., 16 Crores which is an excellent number. Overall, The Kerala Story has minted 35 Crores Net for 3 days in India. It again proves that the verdict of the audience is what decides the result of a movie, and not some agenda-based reviews or calls for boycotts.

Starring Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani and Sonia Balani, The Kerala Story was earlier officially described as the story of more than 32,000 Kerala women who have been allegedly been radicalized by Islamic fundamentalists. However, the number was changed to three from 32,000 after protests spread online stating that misinformation was being spread by the makers.

The Kerala Story movie revolves around Shalini Unnikrishnan (Adah Sharma), Nimah (Yogita Bihani), and Siddhi Idnani (Geetanjali), who share their room with Asifa (Sonia Balani) in a nursing college in Kasargod, Kerala. Asifa, who is an aide to ISIS, how indoctrinates and brainwashes the three girls and converts them to Islam and what happens to them is the main crux of the movie.

Aishwarya Rajinikanth is returning to direction after almost half a decade. On May 8, the filmmaker and Lyca Productions revealed the character poster of Superstar Rajinikanth in her upcoming directorial venture, Lal Salaam. As reported earlier, he will play a cameo role in the film and his character’s name is Moideen Bhai. The shooting of the film is currently underway.

The fans of Superstar Rajinikanth were very eager to see him in a new look in Lal Salaam, but they have not at all liked the first look as it was a very disappointing one. As we look at the first look it does not look like a big star’s first look, rather than it appears like some unknown or b grade movie’s look. The re-release trend in the Telugu Film Industry is looking to extend further to some other yesteryear blockbusters. After the stupendous success of Pokiri, Okkadu, Jalsa, and Kushi, and NTR’s action entertainer Simhadri, Super Star Krishna’s Mosagallaku Mosagadu is gearing up for a re-release on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Krishna Garu on May 31st.

There is no need to specially mention the experiments done by Superstar Krishna in his career. Mosagallaku Mosagadu, India’s first cowboy film, had introduced many technical nuances to the Telugu Cinema. This movie, which was released 52 years ago, created a sensation at the box office. It was ambitiously produced by producer Ghattamaneni Adi Seshagiri Rao under the banner of Padmalaya Studios Private Limited, and became a cult classic.

Today, the distributor’s list of Mosagallaku Mosagadu re-release has been revealed. In Nizam, the movie will be released by SVC/Asian Films, while Krishna region by Annapurna Cinemas.
