After having a formal Pooja Ceremony for his new film with Mrunal Thakur under the direction of Parashuram, Vijay Deverakonda is now all set to start the shoot of his another new film, VD12, which was officially confirmed a few months ago. Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, the film is said to be a Spy crime drama set on a period backdrop, the film will commence its regular shoot from tomorrow.

The Pooja ceremony of Vijay Deverakonda and Gowtam Tinnanuri’s upcoming project was held in Hyderabad in the last month, with the movie now being officially launched. This will be the first time the actor-director duo will be working together. Tollywood’s rising star Sree Leela will be playing the lead in the project, tentatively called VD 12.

Gowtam Tinnanuri, who last directed Jersey’s Hindi version with Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor will be eager to get back to winning ways. The Bollywood remake of Jersey failed at the box-office, much to everyone’s surprise.

The addition of Sree Leela to the movie has further heightened the anticipation. Prabhas’s Adipurush movie facing issues from Nepal people and the government. The Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Balen Shah on Thursday announced that no Indian movie will be allowed to be exhibited within the capital territory if the South Indian movie ‘Adipurush’ does not correct the “mistake” about the birthplace of Sita.

In ‘Adipurush’, it is mentioned that “Sita is the daughter of India,” Shah said in a tweet on Thursday. Adding that until this error is corrected in India and Nepal, no Indian film will be permitted to be shown within the confines of the metropolis of Kathmandu. This has created a tense situation in the fans and moviegoers as the Censor Board had also decided not to release the movie there until the makers correct the error.

However, the situation came back to normal now. The Nepal censor board has passed the film after the controversial dialogue which claimed “Sita is India’s daughter” was removed from the movie. The film, however, is still expected to face some backlash in Kathmandu tomorrow. Let’s hope no such kind of incidents happens to the film.

Starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles, The film is written and directed by Om Raut and produced by T-Series and Retrophiles. Shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu, it also sparked controversy in India, when its initial teaser was released, but after that, the unit of Adipurush was able to bring back the positivity through new trailers and songs.

Story: Savitri (Shelly) is a lone mother of 3 children, Baali (Rishi), Jayaprada (Deviyani) and Gumthi (Jaffer Sadiq). Savitri sleeps with a corrupt police officer to take care of her children, and therefore everyone treats her as a prostitute. Circumstances make Baali a criminal, and he also joins the Naxals group. How Baali becoming a naxalite and its after effects put him and his family in danger is what forms the rest of the story.

Analysis: After entertaining the audience with Save The Tigers, director Mahi V Raghav tried to make a crime drama with bold taking. He was able to build a certain world of violence and havoc. Also, the characters’ introduction and the initial setup was quite intriguing. However, the series could not continue the same momentum after that. Social inequality and injustice, Naxalites, and their fight with the Police department, Shaithan clicks all the dots which are required for a crime drama entangled with twists and turns.

But the narrative was not effective enough to generate the required emotional depth. The lead character and his family go through many hardships and injustice, but the way their journey was shown has left a lot to be desired. Baali’s journey as a naxalite, his enmity with the group members and his friendship with Nagi Reddy, everything was just on the surface level, which is why the audience never got to feel the impact of the proceedings as it should have been. The director tried to incorporate many elements but was unable to do justice to anyone except for some intriguing moments and dialogues. Also, inducing the cuss words just for so-called boldness did not add any value to the show.

Performances: Rishi was impressive in the main role and tried to carry the entire show on his shoulders. Ravi Kale showed his experience in a major role and does his job perfectly. Shelly, Deviyani, Jaffer Sadiq, Kamakshi Bhaskarla, and others were ok.

Plus Points:

  • Rishi’s performance
  • Few effective dialogues/scenes 
  • Background Score

Minus Points:

  • Lack of emotional depth
  • Predictable Twists
  • Unnecessary usage of cuss words 

Verdict: Shaithan works only in parts and suffers because of the predictability in the proceedings and lack of strong writing. The backdrop, fair enough performances and a few sequences work for it, but apart from that, it is a boring affair. You can watch it if you want to kill time.

A cheating case has been registered against the managing director of Suvarnabhoomi, a leading real estate firm that ushered in a new era in the real estate sector by calling it an “indelible address even if generations have changed.”(Tharataraalakee Cheragani Chirunaama). Cases have been registered against the MD and four others for not registering the flats after money being paid from customers. Hero Ram Charan is the brand ambassador of Suvarnabhoomi.

The Hyderabad police have registered a case against Suvarnabhoomi, a leading real estate firm. The victims approached the police after they were duped of a large amount of money from several people on the pretext of selling the flats. The police have launched an investigation. A case has been registered against Suvarnabhoomi Developers Pvt Ltd Managing Director Bollineni Sridhar, Executive Director Meka Srinivas, employees Gangireddy and Dastagiri, and another person.

If we go into the details… In 2017, Suvarnabhoomi company started a venture called Suvarna Kutir near Shadnagar. Kondal Rao, a resident of Krishnanagar, and 21 others working in the film industry have purchased flats in the venture. The flats were purchased in the venture by paying rs 6 lakh to Rs 50 lakh in cash. Dastagiri, an employee of the company, took them to Shadnagar and showed them the flats and paid them the money.

Thereafter, he spoke to the company’s MD Bollineni Sridhar and others many times and paid the full amount in installments. Those who have purchased flats have been on the run for some time now, saying they will be given registration. Whenever the victims asked about the registration, they did not get the right answers and were told tomorrow they will get the job done. The victims then went to the company’s office in Jubilee Hills and stopped the management.

After that, only 20 percent of the amount paid by the victims was received by the company. The company management said they could not get the rest of the money. Flats cannot be registered without paying the full amount. The victims who listened to these statements from the company were worried. The receipts showed that they had paid in full cash. The management after seeing them told that only a few of them were genuine, and the rest were fake receipts. They said their company had nothing to do with them.

The victims then finally realized that they had been cheated. A complaint has been lodged with the police seeking action against the owner of Suvarnabhoomi. Based on the complaint of the victims, a case has been registered against the MD of the company and several others.
