Prime Video pressurizes Ajith’s Vidaamuyarchi

Ajith will be next seen in Adhik Ravichandran’s ‘Good Bad and Ugly’ along with Magizh Thirumeni’s “Vidaamuyarchi”. Coming to Vidaamuyarchi, the film got off to a rocking start with a lengthy outdoor shoot in Azerbaijan. After this, the film has faced several delays leading to a release date postponement as well.

The film was initially planned for a summer release and then moved to August. Now, it has once again shifted to a Diwali release leading to frustration amongst fans as well as Amazon Prime Video. The global streaming giant had acquired the streaming rights of Vidaamuyarchi for a whopping Rs 70 crores.

With these constant delays, Amazon Prime has reportedly informed the makers of the film that the film must now be released before November under any condition. And failing to do so would lead to them backing down from the deal.

Ajith and Trisha play the main roles in ‘Vidaamuyarchi, where Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Das, Arav, and Regina Cassandra play key roles. The team has shot in Azerbaijan for an extended period and these scenes will be the movie’s highlight. Vidaamuyarchi continues the ‘V’ sentiment of Ajith; out of his last ten films, six of them have been titled with the letter ‘V.’

Kalki 2898 AD to join 20 Million club in overseas

Kalki 2898 AD, latest Prabhas starrer is rocking the box office. The film has managed to break box office records in the overseas market as well. It had already established record for premeries and achieved a consecutive $1 Million for 5 days there. Now it looks Kalki 2898 AD is all set to join the coveted $20 Million club in the overseas market in its full run.

Only few films were able to achieve this feat. Baahubali series and RRR were only under this club till now which were also directed by SS Rajamouli. Kalki 2898 AD all set to joining this club would also make it the first Non-Rajamouli film to have breached this mark. No other film from South India has managed to touch this record as well. Kalki 2898 AD is also seemed to be joining the $25 Million club if the same performance continues. The film is also looking stronger than RRR and trending better than it.

North America region also accounts to 2/3rd of revenue generated out of the overseas market for the film. If the film continues the same momentum in North America then it may well get the whole $20 Million alone here. Only Baahubali managed to get $20 Million from North America alone and Kalki 2898 AD looks to touch this record.

Indian 3 > Indian 2 for Kamal Haasan

Actor Kamal Haasan’s current film Indian 2 is all set for release. The legendary Actor is participating in many press meets and interacting with some reporters as well. As part of these interactions, he revealed an interesting opinion. He said that Indian 3 > Indian 2 for him personally. This has shocked many people now.

Kamal Haasan said that he was playing the role of Senapathy’s father in Indian 3. This makes it clear that Indian 3 deals with the flashback episodes of Young Senapathy and his father who is also played by Kamal Haasan. So he will be playing three characters in the Indian series and also represents three generations. Director Shankar also said that Indian 3 happens during the pre-Independence era. The film will also have Kajal Aggarwal in the female lead role.

The team is very confident of Indian 2 but the buzz tells a different story. If the film secures a positive word of mouth then it would have all chances of becoming a blockbuster. This would also make a big way for Indian 3 afterwards. Most of the shoot of Indian 3 is completed and the film may even release in the early months of 2025.

June 2024: Golden Month for Aswini Dutt

Producer Aswini Dutt is on cloud nine after the superb show of Kalki 2898 in theatres worldwide. June has been particularly good for the veteran producer with the blockbuster success of Kalki on one hand and the landslide victory of the TDP-Janasena alliance on the other. It is a known fact that Aswini Dutt is a long-time TDP supporter and a close associate of AP CM Chandrababu Naidu.

The senior producer even openly spoke about TDP long before the election results were declared. With the label “Vote for a Better Tomorrow,”  the star producer tweeted encouraging people to vote for ‘Cycle’, the Telugu Desam Party’s (TDP) election symbol. He even spoke openly against the YCP Government over Chandra Babu Naidu’s arrest last year.

The victory of Chandrababu Naidu brought great joy to the senior producer. With Kalki 2898 AD, he achieved a personal victory as he chose to go for his own release rather than selling the rights to others. The blockbuster performance of Kalki has made June a very special month for him. The film is expected to collect in the range of 1000 Cr in full run.

June started with TDP victory in the first week and ended with Kalki 2898 AD’ release on the 27th making it the most special month for him.

Shankar announces his next projects

Maverick Director, Shankar is currently busy in promotional activities for his upcoming film, Indian 2. The Director is interacting with reporters about many things and he has also announced his next projects other than Indian 3, third part in Indian series. Shankar is also working for Game Changer starring Ram Charan which is also under shoot stage currently.

Shankar said that he had three ideas about his upcoming films. One will be historical and the other will follow James Bond films’ style and last one is related to science fiction like 2012. These three films will surely require high budget and VFX works. When asked about Game Changer the director replied that there were only 15-20 days of shooting left. He also was confident of finishing it after Indian 2 release.

Shankar will concentrate on Indian 3 after Game Changer as well. It needs to be seen which film he’ll take forward as his next film after these two films. The Director also rejected that he wanted to make a film like Avatar which deals with Underwater world and adventure. On the other hand, Indian 2 is all set for release this July 12th worldwide in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi.

Until Baahubali, only top heroes of Tollywood had highest grossing films. But Prabhas and SS Rajamouli rose to nationwide fame with Baahubali series and things have changed afterwards. So much so that the top 5 highest grossing films in Telugu language are under their names surprisingly.

Prabhas didn’t manage to score an Industry hit before Baahubali as a solo hero. Rajamouli too had only Magadheera in his list. But they both collaborated for Baahubali and made sure no others could come close to them. Now, as said, they hold all the top 5 grossing films in their list. Starting with RRR, Baahubali 2, Salaar, Kalki 2898 AD and Baahubali 1. All these films have either of these duo.

RRR currently stands on the top with 365 crores gross worldwide followed by Baahubali 2 with 310 crores, Salaar with 213 crores, Kalki 2898 AD, the latest entry with 200 crores and Baahubali 2 with 184.34 crores. Kalki 2898 AD may even go close to 300 crores gross mark worldwide if the next weekend does well. Prabhas also happens to be the actor with 200 crore grossers consecutively in Telugu. No other hero has this record as a solo film. Baahubali is surely working for him.

2.0 directed by Maverick Director, Shankar starred Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead role. The film was also a sequel to the blockbuster, Enthiran/Robo. Director Shankar is currently busy with his promotional interviews of Indian 2. He interacted with reporters and revealed an interesting news that Kamal Haasan had actually rejected his offer in 2.0. This has shocked everyone now.

Director Shankar told that he initially planned to rope in Kamal Haasan in the antagonist role that Akshay Kumar had played in 2.0. But due to Kamal Haasan’s busy schedule then he couldn’t accept the role. But netizens feel that Kamal Haasan would have intentionally rejected this offer to avoid sharing screen with Rajinikanth as a villain. They also feel that he rejected it in the name of schedule.

The antagonist role was also offered to Hollywood Superstar, Arnold Schwarzenegger once. But due to the budget constraints, the film didn’t take off with him. Now this news has also stunned everyone. On the other hand, Kamal Haasan and Shankar’s current film Indian 2 is all set for release this July 12th worldwide. The team has completed all the formalities and the trailer has also been released. Kalki 2898 AD starring Prabhas opened to a humongous response. The film had indicated this with the advance bookings itself. It broke the record of advance bookings gross in North America region as well. The film also had a fantastic weekend grossing over 500 crores worldwide. Now, Kalki 2898 AD has claimed an all-time record despite Pathaan’s existing record.

The film as said is sensational in North America market. Now, the film has collected $1Million consecutively for 5 days. The team has claimed this as an all-time record but Pathaan previously held this record. The team of Kalki 2898 AD have also released an official poster claiming this record. But Pathaan had collected a consecutive $1Million for 5 days in this market. We have to see how Pathaan’s team responds to this.

On the other hand, Kalki 2898 AD is performing stunningly in the domestic market. It has already crossed the 200 crore gross mark from Telugu version alone worldwide. It is also all set to become the first 1000 crore film for Prabhas apart from Baahubali series. This is definitely a great news for fans of Prabhas as he has also managed to equal the record of Shah Rukh Khan as of now.

Revanth Reddy’s Pre-Condition for Ticket Hike

It appears like we will get to see more Tollywood stars and directors featuring in anti-drug awareness videos in the coming days. Mega Star Chiranjeevi recently uploaded a similar video and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy appreciating this move has stated that producers who will seek ticket hikes might have to follow Chiranjeevi’s initiative.

He directed the officials to set a pre-condition to filmmakers to provide a video of one or two minutes duration to the government to promote awareness on drugs and cybercrime when they approach the government to hike ticket prices.

The video can be made with the same cast who acted in the film for which permission to hike ticket prices is sought, said Revanth Reddy.

He said he agrees that films are made with an investment of crores of rupees but drugs are a societal problem, he said. Filmmakers should give back to the society, he said. He instructed that cinema theatre owners should screen short-duration films free of cost before beginning the film screening to promote awareness against drugs and cybercrime.

Nani’s Announced Projects on Hold

After achieving success through Dasara and Hi Nanna in 2023, all eyes are on Nani’s next projects in 2024. He is collaborating with Vivek Athreya for Saripodhaa Sanivaaram which will hit the screens later this year. Apart from this, the Natural Star also announced a couple of other projects which are now facing a roadblock.

It was announced that Nani will work with Sujeeth under DVV Entertainment and then star under Balagam director Venu’s direction in Dil Raju production. Nani had even made an official announcement regarding both projects. “It’s a Sujeeth film. After the POWER… Comes the LOVER #Nani32,” wrote Nani about Sujeeth’s film.

Right now both these films are on hold and it needs to be seen whether they take off in the near future or get shelved completely. As of now Nani is not working on these projects and is filming for Saripodhaa Sanivaaram only. He will join HIT 3 next which will soon go on floors.
