High court orders Jailer team to remove RCB jersey from movie

The Delhi High Court has ordered the filmmakers of ‘Jailer’ to alter scenes where a shooter wore a Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) jersey. As per the direction of the Delhi High Court, the scenes need to be altered or changed by the 1st of September, and none of the theaters should exhibit RCB’s jersey.

The order says “With effect from 1st September 2023, in the theatrical depiction of the film Jailer the RCB team jersey shall stand edited/altered. The Defendants shall ensure that after 1st September 2023, none of the theaters would exhibit the RCB jersey in any form whatsoever. Insofar as television, satellite or any OTT platform is concerned, prior to the release thereof, the altered version of the film shall be broadcasted/telecasted.”

The IPL-based team filed a complaint with the court and expressed concerns about the use of the RCB Jersey in scenes that were portrayed negatively. According to the movie, a hired killer is seen wearing the jersey and talking bad about a female character in the movie.

So, the Royal Challengers Bangalore claimed that the usage of the jersey in the movie has been depicted negatively and that permission from the team was not taken by the makers before usage of the jersey. According to RCB, the negative usage has been used to hinder its brand image.

Nara Rohit’s Prathinidhi 2 regular shoot begins

Hero Nara Rohit is making his comeback with a unique movie Prathinidhi 2 which marks the directorial debut of popular journalist Murthy Devagupthapu. Kumarraza Bathula, Anjaneyulu Sri Thota and Kondakalla Rejender Reddy will produce the movie under the banner of Vanara Entertainments. Prathinidhi 2, the second franchise from the Prathinidhi series, had its regular shooting commenced today.

Along with Nara Rohit, the film’s other important actors had participated in the shoot. The production work began in Hyderabad. Nara Rohit’s face is blurred in the image which was shared by the makers while announcing the commencement of the shoot.

“One man will stand again, against all odds,” is the caption of the movie. The first-look poster of the movie, which was unveiled a few days ago, received a positive response from all corners. As the first look suggested, Prathinidhi 2 deals with a social issue much like its predecessor.

Young sensation, Mahati Swara Sagar will score the music for the film while Nani Chamidishetty is the cinematographer. Raviteja Girijala is the editor and Kiran Kumar Manne is the art director. The film will hit the screens for Republic Day on January 25th, 2024. The makers will soon reveal the film’s lead actress and other cast details.

Tamil Star Hero Thalapathy Vijay’s son, Jason Sanjay, is making his debut as a director. Lyca Productions, the renowned production house in South Indian Cinema, will be producing his first directorial venture. On August 28, the production house shared pictures of Sanjay signing the agreement with them and made an announcement that was unexpected for everyone.

Because everyone expected Sanjay to debut as an actor following his father’s steps. However, the fans of Vijay were so happy with their favorite hero’s son making debut as a director, and they shared their wishes for Vijay and Sanjay. The casting process is currently underway, as Sanjay revealed in a statement.

Thalapathy Vijay’s son, Jason Sanjay, had previously expressed his desire to become a director. SA Chandrasekhar, his grandfather and filmmaker, revealed this in numerous interviews.

On August 28, Lyca Productions, shared some photos on X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, “We are beyond excited & proud to introduce #JasonSanjay in his Directorial Debut. We wish him a career filled with success & contentment, carrying forward the legacy! (thus used).”

Jason Sanjay revealed that he is honored to make his debut film with Lyca Productions. “It’s an honor to get the opportunity to direct my first film for a prestigious production house like Lyca Productions. It has been a hub of encouraging talents and has created a stream of new filmmakers. I am glad that they liked my script, and have given me complete creative freedom to materialise it,” shared Jason.

King of Kotha is a big disaster at the box office – 1st weekend collections

Dulquer Salmaan’s ambitious pan-India project King of Kotha was released on this Thursday, I.e. August 24th amidst massive hype. Everyone expected the film to create big records at the box office. However, the film received negative response from the audiences and critics as well. After getting excellent nos on day 1, King Of Kotha saw a huge drop in its numbers, and it is on the way to becoming a big disaster at the box office.

After a good opening day, the film had a drastic drop and fell flat at the box office. In Kerala, the film has collected around 11Cr gross and in Overseas it gathered around 13Cr. The rest of India’s number will be around 6Cr and total gross will be just 30Cr, which makes it a big disaster at the box office.

The pan-India project was released in all South Indian languages and Hindi. The gangster drama is directed by debutant Abhilash Joshiy and produced by ZEE Studios and Dulquer Salmaan’s home production Wayfarer Films. King Of Kotha is a gangster drama with a perfect blend of emotions, romance, and comedy.

Apart from Dulquer, the film also stars Dancing Rose (Sarpatta Parambarai fame), Prasanna, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Nyla Usha, Chemban Vinod, Gokul Suresh, Shammi Thilakn, Shanthi Krishna, Vada Chennai Saran, and Anikha Surendran. Set in the 1990s, in a fictional town named Kotha, the film is a tale of revenge and redemption.

Rajinikanth’s Jailer is still performing consistently at the box office. After emerging as the new Kollywood industry hit, the action entertainer with a superb third Sunday has collected 577 Cr gross worldwide and is now marching towards the Rs 600 crore mark.

The film witnessed an excellent third Sunday in all territories Tamil Nadu, Telugu states, Kerala, and Karnataka. The film managed to collect a double-digit gross on Sunday across India, which is a remarkable achievement nowadays. If the movie manages to hold the same momentum for one more week from tomorrow, then it has all chances to join the exclusive 600Cr club.

For 18 days, Jailer has collected around 180Cr+ gross in Tamil Nadu, and it gathered around 80Cr in Telugu states. 62Cr+ gross in Karnataka, 52Cr gross in Kerala. Overall, for 18 days, Jailer has collected around 390Cr gross in India and in Overseas around 187 Cr, which makes the total gross up to 577Cr gross worldwide, and it has every chance to collect 600Cr in its full run.

Released on August 10th, Jailer is produced by Sun Pictures on a massive budget. The film’s Cinematographer is Vijay Karthik Kannan and the editing was handled by R Nirmal. Along with Rajinikanth in the lead role, the cameos of Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar have been liked immensely by the audiences. Anirudh Ravichander’s electrifying background score was another plus point for the film.

As per the reports, Vijay will be playing the double role in his next with Venkat Prabhu film.
