Regina Cassandra, the beautiful and skillful actress in the South Indian film industry, recently came before the audiences with her latest film ‘Nene Naa’. This fantasy drama, despite having a disappointing theatrical run, seems to have received good response upon its OTT release. Just twenty days after its initial theatrical release, ‘Nene Naa’ made its debut on the Aha OTT platform, much to everyone’s surprise.

Karthik Raju is the director of ‘Nene Naa’, a fantasy drama that combines elements of revenge, fantasy, and the concept of reincarnation. Although the film’s shooting had been finished a while before its release, it faced multiple postponements due to various factors. The movie finally made its way to theaters on August 25th. Sadly, it didn’t generate the buzz it needed to maintain its successful, and it was removed from theaters in just a few days.

Regina Cassandra plays both a princess and an archaeologist in the film. The story revolves around Divya (played by Regina), an archaeologist who gets involved in a murder case of a foreigner who was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a forest. The police uncover a shocking truth that Damayanti, in a divine form, is responsible for the murder as they dig deeper into the case. The revelation prompts intriguing inquiries about the relationship between Divya, the archaeologist, and Damayanti, the princess from a previous life.

Despite the initial setbacks, ‘Nene Naa’ has found a relatively better response upon its OTT arrival. Regina Cassandra’s compelling performance and the movie’s unique mixture of fantasy and mystery have impressed viewers who might have missed it during its short theatrical run. The film is now accessible to a wider audience thanks to OTT streaming, which gives it a second chance to shine.

As part of the Telugu promotions of Chandramukhi 2, the film unit came to Hyderabad. On this occasion, director P Vasu gave an explanation about the postponement of the film. He said that when the final copy of the film was ready, 480 shots went missing. To get those shots, 150 technicians worked hard for five days to correct it and worked very hard for it. The Telugu audiences are a target for Netflix, the streaming giant in India now. Despite having various Indian films available in different regions, it has consistently lagged in southern languages, particularly in Telugu.

If we see the latest films released on OTT and upcoming films which are ready to be streamed on OTT, most of the films have been bought by Netflix. Irrespective of results, most of the latest Telugu films have been bought by Netflix only… Dasara, Virupaksha, Bhola Shankar, Bro The Avatar, Gandeevadhari Arjuna all the recent films are available on Netflix platform.

Even the upcoming biggies and notable films which are planning to be released in next year are also bought by Netflix as per the reports. Now if we compare to the other OTT platforms, Netflix turned out to be the no.1 OTT platform for the Telugu audiences.

Coming to the other South Indian languages, the Netflix has a good number of movies from Tamil and Malayalam languages.

Re releasing films now is very risky and could lead to significant financial losses

It is widely known that in the recent days, the trend of re releasing the old super hit Telugu movies has gained momentum. Many old blockbusters of star heroes like Pawan Kalyan, Mahesh Babu were released again and became good hits. Seeing the success of films like Pokiri, Jalsa, Kushi and Orange, many buyers came to buy more films.

At first, it worked for the buyers as they bought the rights for very lower prices and their investment was so minimal and brought them profits. The audiences also shown very much interest in re-releases. With this, many buyers got interested in doing business, but now they are facing very tough times as a few re-releases have already postponed with no craze and a few movies like Pawan Kalyan’s Gudumba Shankar were re released but did not work as per the expectations.

Another problem is: The producers are also asking huge prices for re-release and it is becoming a massive investment and the audiences are not showing the interest in re-releases which is making the buyers face heavy losses. The buyers should be careful and should not live in a dreamy world before buying old movies.

Recently, Nandamuri Balakrishna’s was announced to be re-released on August 5, 2023. The movie was said to have brought to the audience with 4K Ultra HD technology. But because of zero interest from the audiences, the re-release was stalled. This fantasy movie was released on April 14, 1994, and became the biggest hit. The film created a record by winning a total of 9 Nandi Awards.

The actor will return to portray the iconic ‘Senapathi’ character, the freedom fighter and vigilante hunted by authorities. The film has been the victim of many delays in its filming but in the recent days it got back on to the track, and it is also being reported that the Indian 2 team is considering preponing the release plans.

Indian 2 was reportedly planned for Independence weekend release. The shooting is completed for the film but post-production works needed a bit more time, mainly the Computer Graphics were the main focused by the team as they wanted to give a quality output. So they wanted as much of time for the pre-production works.

But Pushpa 2 officially announced for Independence weekend, and clashing with Pushpa 2 will definitely affect any pan India film, so now the team of Indian 2 is considering to prepone the release plans, and it is said that they are thinking to come in late summer like Mid-May or May end.

However, the post-production works need to be completed in time for this. Then only the film can be released without any delays and the main task for Shankar is he needs to release Game Changer in next year as well. So he cannot postpone Indian 2 to Dasara or Diwali.

Indian 2 is touted to be the most expensive film in Kamal Haasan’s career. The star cast also includes Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Bobby Simha, Samuthirakani, Guru Somasundaram, Priya Bhavani Shankar and others with the late actors Vivek, Nedumudi Venu and Manobala.

Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music for Indian 2 with Rathnavelu’s cinematography, Muthuraj’s art direction, and Sreekar Prasad’s editing.

Shah Rukh Khan achieves a historic feat- The first Indian hero with two 1000Cr+ grossers

0

The blockbuster success of Jawan has brought forth a historical moment in Bollywood trade.  Shah Rukh Khan has become the first Indian actor to score Rs 1,000 crore that too back to back! His earlier film Pathaan directed by Siddharth Anand was also a blockbuster with terrific box-office performance and ended up as the new Bollywood industry hit.

Atlee’s Jawan has upped the game and performed even better than Pathan across all territories. Jawan will be officially joining 1000Cr gross club today making Shahrukh Khan the only hero in Indian cinema with two 1000Cr+ grossers.

Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, a high-octane action thriller, saw a humongous opening at the box office. The movie, which also stars Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi with Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Dutt in special appearances, earned a massive Rs 75 crore in India on its opening day, thereby breaking all records.

Jawan has now joined Dangal, Baahubali 2, RRR, KGF 2, Gadar 2, and Pathaan to become only the seventh Indian film to achieve this feat. Interestingly, Shahrukh Khan’s year of blockbuster releases is not over yet. He will be bringing an end to the year with Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Dunki‘, which will be out in cinemas on Christmas. Dunki has every possibility of creating a hat-trick for Shah Rukh.

Vijay Devarakonda’s Kushi worldwide closing collections – Below average

0

Vijay Deverakonda’s return to the romantic genre and his first-time pairing with Samantha was expected to deliver a much-needed success for both. Kushi, however, failed to continue its initial momentum and ended up way short of its targetted figures. Here’s a detailed break-up of Kushi’s area-wise closing collections.

Kushi Telugu version closing collections

Nizam – 13.5 Cr
Ceeded – 2.6 Cr
UA – 2.95 Cr
East – 1.55 Cr
West – 1.15 Cr
Guntur – 1.5 Cr
Krishna – 1.4 Cr
Nellore – 0.8 Cr
AP/TG – 25.45 Cr
ROI – 3 Cr
Overseas – 9 Cr
Worldwide- 37.45 Cr

The Telugu version pre-business was valued at around 50Cr. Interestingly Nizam and Andhra regions gave out contrasting numbers. While there was a recovery of 75% in Nizam, Andhra region buyers experienced big losses. The overseas market was quite beneficial for Kushi with the film ending with profits there.

The Tamil version of the film is a super hit in Tamil Nadu and the movie has collected more than 10Cr gross. Out of this, a majority of the collection came from the Tamil version only.

Overall box-office-wise, the film got a below-average verdict including both Telugu and Tamil versions. Directed by Shiva Nirvana, Kushi’s music by Hesham Abdul Wahab was one of its biggest strengths and helped the film in creating some initial buzz.
