Mrunal Thakur Teams Up with Ajay Devgn

Mrunal Thakur has emerged as one of the most sought-after actresses in Tollywood and now here demand in Bollywood is also rising. She has two Bollywood projects in production ‘Pooja Meri Jaan’ which co-stars Huma Qureshi and Vijay Raaj. and ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai alongside Varun Dhawan.

Mrunal, who was last seen in a cameo role in Kalki 2898 AD has signed another project alongside Bollywood star Ajay Devgn. This will be a sequel to Ajay Devgn, Sonakshi Sinha’s 2015 hit film Son of Sardaar which was a remake of SS Rajamouli’s Maryada Ramana.

This project has been on hold for several years and now will go on set soon. Mrunal Thakur will play the leading role opposite Ajay Devgn in this comedy entertainer that will also star Sanjay Dutt and Pankaj Tripathi.

This project will be directed by Vijay Kumar Arora and produced by Ajay Devgn and Jio Studios. The shooting will begin soon in UK.

Raayan Set for Record-Breaking Opening

Raayan is one of the most eagerly awaited Kollywood biggies this year. The film is Dhanush’s landmark 50th film and is also written and directed by him. The trailer and promotional content have managed to create solid buzz for the film and the star studded cast is sure to give the film a great start at the box office.

The film also stars SJ Suryah, Selvaraghavan, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Selva Raghavan, Prakash Raj, Aparna Balamurali, Kalidas Jayaram and Sundeep Kishan in key roles. The music for the film is composed by AR Rahman. Raayan is an action thriller backed by Sun Pictures and is slated to release in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.

The film is carrying good buzz in the trade circles and there is huge anticipation regarding the film amongst moviegoers. The bookings have opened on an extremely strong note. Looking at the trends, Raayan has got all it takes to become Dhanush’s biggest opener. So far, Karnan is the biggest opening film for Dhanush. The film is expected to open well in Telugu as well and Dhanush has been putting equal focus on promoting the film in Telugu.

Raayan will be released on 26th July worldwide and has been given ‘A’ certificate by the censor.

Indian 2 starring Kamal Haasan is the sequel to much accalimed yesteryear blockbuster, Indian. The film has been in the shoot haul for many years and released recently amid big hype. But it didn’t meet the expectations and the film ended up as a big disaster on the opening day itself. Here are Indian 2 10 days worldwide collections:

Indian 2 has crashed completely after the first weekend. It continued the same trend even in the second weekend too. The film didn’t put any impressive numbers in Tamil Nadu alone and collected around 52 crores gross. Telugu States gross is around 26 crores and the overseas does nearly 50 crores and the rest of India amounts to 22 crores. The total gross now stands at around 150 crores worldwide.

The film is heading towards the status of a big disaster and will end up below 170 crores. This is a very low number considering the pre-release business done for the film. The idea of releasing the film into two parts has completely backfired and we’ll have to see what happens with Indian 3 which will release anywhere in the early 2025. Indian 2 will also be streaming very early than on the prescribed date.

Karthi’s big blast in Kanguva

Kanguva starring Suriya is one of the most awaited films in Kollywood. The film is made on a large scale aiming for a Pan India blockbuster. The film’s shoot is also progressing on a fast pace and the release date has been scheduled on 10th October. An interesting news has emerged now which is truly massive. Suriya’s brother cum Actor Karthi is set to offer a big blast in Kanguva in the form of a cameo as a surprise to the fans and audiences.

Kanguva has already been reported to release in two parts. The first part is said to be ending with a cameo appearance of Karthi leading to the 2nd part. Karthi is also learned to play a massive role in the second part of Kanguva along with his brother Suriya. This is a great news for audiences as both Suriya and Karthi never shared screen space. Kalki 2898 AD: Kamal Haasan Not Kali

Kamal Haasan’s role in Kalki 2898 AD has attracted great discussions and speculations ever since the trailer was released. It featured the ‘Ulaganayagan’ in a totally different look with heavy prosthetics. Once the movie was released, multiple theories regarding his role resurfaced.

Kamal Haasan, who throughout his illustrious career has acted in a wide variety of characters was quite upbeat about his role in the film before its release. “The reason I accepted this film is because I come from analogous cinema. Without a negative, there’s no positive. So, a negative role is an important role in a film,” said the veteran star confirming the reports.

So far, everyone believed that Kamal Haasan was playing Kali in the film but the production designer has given a surprising update about the film.

“You have seen only one complex, but there are a total of seven complexes in different parts of the world. Supreme Yaskin leads all the complexes. He directly reports to the invisible divine force, Kali,” said Nitin Zihani Choudary, Production Designer of Kalki2898AD.

This statement has filled the fans with amusement as well as excitement for what’s in store for Kalki 2.  In a recent media interaction, he revealed that Kalki part 2 is where he will truly be in his essence with greater screen time and will truly surprise the audience.

Samantha’s Next: A Netflix Web Series

Samantha has set her eyes on Bollywood and decided to venture into diverse projects other than those in Tollywood and Kollywood. While she was recently seen in Kushi last year, she also made a massive splash in Hindi with a negative role in Raj and DK’s Family Man 2. Her performance was well appreciated and the actress is busy with multiple projects in Hindi.

She will be next seen in Citadel by Raj and DK which will co-star Varun Dhawan. She has signed another web series ‘Rakht Brahmand’ with Netflix which will be directed by the same duo. This show will also feature Aditya Roy Kapoor and Wamiqa Gabbi in key roles. The period fantasy show will be directed by Rahi Anil Barve and will go on floors in August.

Apart from this, Samantha will co-star with Mammootty in a Gautam Menon project which will go on floors in August. Samantha will also be seen in Thalapathy 69, directed by H Vinoth. This is a landmark project which will be Vijay’s last before he enters into politics.

Samantha is currently struggling a bit in her career with consecutive box-office failures in the form of Yashoda, Shaakuntalam, and Kushi. With so many exciting projects for big screen as well as OTTs, Samantha fans are surely in for a treat in the coming days.

Mega heroes battle: Big clash of three stars

Tollywood Box office is set to witness a big clash of three stars from the Mega family. If the indications are true, it may very well be true. Allu Arjun, Ram Charan and Chiranjeevi are set to release their films in a weeks gap in the theatres. Pushpa 2, Game Changer and Vishwambhara will compete for the upper hand at the box office.

Dil Raju yesterday at Raayan Telugu pre-release event confirmed Game Changer to release during the Christmas season this year. The release date is likely to be the 20th of December. Pushpa 2: The Rule has already fixed its release date on December 6th worldwide. There were rumours regarding the postponement of Pushpa 2. But the film is most likely to release on the tentative date.

Chiranjeevi’s socio-fantasy film, Vishwambhara directed by Vassishta, fame of Bimbisara is also planned as a Sankranthi release next year. The film’s tentative release date is 10th January. So it will be just a two weeks of gap between each film. This will definitely impact other film’s prospects. Pushpa 2: The Rule is already planned as a big Pan India release and two weeks for the film’s run may not be sufficient. However, Game Changer and Vishwambhara are purely regional films and they may find a bit of relief with limited release.

SJ Suryah dominating everyone

SJ Suryah is playing an antagonist role in Game Changer starring Ram Charan. Shankar, the director of the film addressed him recently as the main lead ironically. Now, SJ Suryah is playing antagonist role in Nani’s Saripodhaa Sanivaaram. SJ Suryah looked dominating again in the teaser where he was shown a bad cop. The teaser was also released on his birthday interestingly. It will be sure that he dominates again with Saripodhaa Sanivaaram.

Bigg Boss Telugu 8: Nagarjuna Fans Upset

So far, nothing has been confirmed. At the moment, he is doing Kubera under Sekhar Kammula’s direction but it’s not a solo film and Dhanush will play the title role. The film will be released this year-end or 2025 early summer.

No details about Nagarjuna’s next have been announced yet. This Bigg Boss update has hurt his fans as other senior stars are doing interesting projects whereas Nagarjuna is lagging behind.

Kalki 2898 AD 25 days worldwide collections

Kalki 2898 AD has entered its 5th week and has done spectacular business in all the territories. The sci-fi action directed by Nag Ashwin has achieved several milestones in its 25-day run so far. In Telugu states, the movie collected around Rs 280 Cr gross for 25 days.

Karnataka brought in Rs 74 crores while the film collected Rs 44 crores in Tamil Nadu and Rs 32 crores in Kerala. Kalki 2898 AD has achieved amazing numbers in the north, with Rs 310 crores business so far.

The total all-India gross stands at Rs 744 crores while the overseas gross collection is $ 30 million (Rs 250 crores approx.). Overall, Kalki gross collection stands at around Rs 990 crores.

The film was own-released by Ashwini Dutt through multiple distributors, and his risk has paid off well. Worldwide, the film has crossed 950 Cr gross so far and is heading towards the 1000 Cr mark.
