A dry weekend for Telugu states theater owners, marking very tough times for them

It’s a dry weekend for Telugu states theater owners, as there are no notable releases today, which marks the tough times continue for them. As the Dasara festival weekend is flooded with star films, many small, and low-budget movies have been put into the theaters but no one knows the Hero, Heroine, Director, or anybody’s name in all the films.

Though more than 10 films are releasing in theaters this week, there is not a single notable movie in it. With this, the audience’s eyes fell on the OTT. Accordingly, about 29 films will be streaming this weekend, i.e. Thursday and Friday. This makes it a truly dry weekend for Telugu theaters owners.

In last weekend many small films were released with notable star cast but excluding the film, MAD, all films crashed on the opening day itself. Being a youthful entertainer and receiving positive response, MAD movie is doing decent numbers at the box office.

However, the revenue of MAD movie is very limited, and even this weekend there are no notable releases and the audience has only option for this weekend, MAD movie. So the tough times for theater owners will continue until next as they have good days with three big films getting released.

After the release of ‘Thunivu’ there were a lot of expectations over Ajith’s next project. The Kollywood star immediately signed his next ‘Vidaamuyarchi’. But, due to various reasons, the project ran into various delays including the exit of Vignesh Shivan who was later replaced by Magizh Thirumeni. Now, the film has finally got off to the mark, and the team left for a long outdoor shoot in Azerbaijan.

There was great curiosity over who would direct Ajith next and several names including Siruthai Siva and Vishnuvardhan were mentioned as favorites in the media. Now the hot news from reliable sources is that the mass hero has made a surprise choice for his next.

Now, reportedly, he is planning to team up with hitmaker Adhik Ravichandran (who earlier directed Mark Antony) for his 63rd outing in Tamil cinema. If the reports are to be believed, the much-awaited project will be bankrolled by Elred Kumar under RS Infotainment. While excitement around the film has made all the fans go gaga, the latest report reveals the superstar’s massive remuneration for the film. Scroll down to know more.

Ajith is receiving a record remuneration for this much-anticipated project. The maker’s plan is to wrap the entire film budget in 225Cr. Out of the 225Cr budget, Rs160Cr is Ajith’s remuneration. In the remaining 65Cr, the film needs to be completed. If the budget goes as per plan then the producer will be in safe hands as Ajith’s movies can do business in the range of 250Cr+ including all rights.

With the sudden announcement of Salaar’s arrival on December 22, all the Tollywood movies had shifted their release from Christmas as they cannot compete with Salaar. So Salaar will have a solo release in Telugu and Tamil languages as there are no films on Christmas in South India and the movie has solo release. The only competition for the film is in North belts and Overseas due to Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki

Now the latest rumors suggesting that Dunki is likely to be postponed to early 2024 release. If Dunki really gets postponed then Salaar will have a solo release everywhere with the blockbuster holiday period and Sky will be the limit if talks comes positive for the film.

The clash between Salaar and Dunki has probably been the biggest one in Indian cinema in recent times. Prashanth Neel and Prabhas are bringing together the brands KGF and Baahubali on the one hand. Shahrukh Khan and Raj Kumar Hirani, on the other hand, have pioneered 200-600 crore clubs in Bollywood and have produced four industry hits combined. Furthermore, SRK is doing well with two back-to-back movies that grossed 1000 crores this year.

Salaar appears to be gaining a lot from this highly anticipated clash. Movie collections are affected by competition when each film eats into the other’s box office. Surender Reddy recently exited Pawan Kalyan’s project and narrated the script with Venkatesh. Venkatesh reportedly has liked the plot and initial discussions have started on it. This project is reportedly a multi-starrer and if everything falls into place, it will star Naga Chaitanya alongside Venkatesh.

Four medium budget films clashing without any holidays, is it the right decision?

Several films have announced plans to release their films in December after the Election Commission of India announced the Telangana Election schedule. On December 7th, Nani’s Hi Nanna will be released on the screens. The official announcement will be made soon in this regard. Mega Prince Varun Tej’s pan-Indian movie Operation Valentine has been scheduled for December 8th and the team will continue with their release plans.

Nithin’s Extra Ordinary Man is also gearing up for a December 8th release. Nani, Varun Tej, and Nithin are set to compete in their first clash. Another film in this clash is Vishwak Sen’s Gangs of Godavari, which was announced long back for December 8th release, but there are reports that the film has been rescheduled for February 2024 release. 

However, this clash looks unnecessary as there are no holidays and also the period of post Diwali to before Christmas is said to be a very dry period for Telugu Cinema and releasing four films at such a period will definitely affect the films a lot and films with mixed / bad word of mouth will be affected terribly and they cannot even sustain in competition. We need to see what will be the final decision of the makers on the release of the films. 

Nani’s Hi Nanna is a film that is made as an emotional drama, while Varun Tej’s Operation Valentine is an action-packed film, and Nithin’s Extraordinary Man is a film that is catered to the mass audience.

While there are no notable releases in the theaters this week, there are multiple movies and web series’ streaming on OTT from tonight for the Telugu audience…some of them have already started streaming.

Vishal’s latest blockbuster Mark Antony will be streaming on Amazon Prime Video from tonight, while Aha Video will have two new releases called Matti Katha and Mistake.

The Malayalam movie Kasargold will be streaming on Netflix, while a Telugu Web Series called Mr. Nagabhushanam will be available on ETV Win App. Prema vimanam is already streaming on ZEE5 from today, and Tamil Web Series Mathagam Part 2 web Series is already streaming on Disney Plus Hot Star.

Leo contains strong bloody violence, gore, threat and sexual threat

Thalapathy Vijay’s film Leo has been recently approved by the Censor Board, but there were some alterations in the film’s content. Lokesh Kanagaraj is the director of this film, which is included in his ‘Lokesh Cinematic Universe’. Leo has been certified U/A by the Central Board of Film Certification, which is scheduled to be released on October 19. According to reports, the Board has ordered 13 modifications to the film, including removing swear words that were used in the film. The film is also said to have violence, gore, and sexual threat elements as per the CBFC Report.

Leo’s Censor Certificate had spread like wildfire on X (formerly known as Twitter), and it showed the 13 modifications that Lokesh Kanagaraj had been requested to make by the CBFC. The board has requested that the team mute the swear words along with improving the violent scenes in the film. The changes and cuts resulted in Leo having a run time of 164 minutes (2 hours 44 minutes).

The distributors are opting for multiple censor cuts to make the film suitable for family audiences because they cannot enjoy a film that has an excessive amount of gore and violence. Even In trailer also, we can observe there was a bad word that was removed later.

This action thriller features Trisha Krishnan, Arjun Sarja, Gautham Menon, Mysskin, and Priya Anand in crucial roles. Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt is also in the film. Lokesh Kanagaraj and Rathna Kumar worked together to write the script. The music for the film was composed by Anirudh Ravichander, and its cinematography and editing were handled by Manoj Paramahamsa and Philomin Raj, respectively.
