Can Malaikottai Vaaliban become the Baahubali of Mollywood? This is the question of movie lovers. In South India, many films from Kollywood have greatly impacted the Indian box office, as Shankar, Rajinikanth, and Kamal Haasan’s films have worked very well in all languages. 

The trend started with the Baahubali Series from Tollywood, and from Sandalwood, it began with KGF. Only Malayalam films did not make a bigger impact in all languages. Now, their biggest project, Malaikottai Vaaliban, which is a massive budget project, is getting released in all languages on 25th January. So, now the question is, Can Malaikottai Vaaliban become the Baahubali of Mollywood?

The makers have already announced that the film will be released in two parts. We must wait and see whether it will be the first pan-Indian blockbuster from Mollywood. Part 1 has to work big in all languages to make Part 2 much bigger. The film’s trailer was released recently, and a U/A certificate has been granted to the movie after it completed its censor formalities.

Malaikottai Vaaliban’s Cast and Crew

Following the critically acclaimed Neru, Mollywood star Mohanlal will be back on screens with Malaikottai Vaaliban. On January 25, 2024, the period action drama directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery will be released in cinemas.

Manikanda Rajan, Sonalee Kulkarni, Andrea Ravera, Hareesh Peradi, Danish Sait, and others are also a part of this movie, which John and Mary Creative have bankrolled in collaboration with Max Labs and Century Films. Prashant Pillai is the film’s composer.

The live screening of the ceremony will take place from 11 AM until 3 PM. Tickets are priced at a flat price of ₹100 and this includes a beverage and popcorn combo. The tickets can be booked through the PVR INOX App or website.

The consecration ceremony, billed to be a grand event, will attract dignitaries and people from various backgrounds. The seven-day rituals began with Anil Mishra, appointed by the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra, performing the atonement ceremony on Tuesday (January 16). The rituals will conclude on the seventh day on January 22 with the pran-pratishtha ceremony, presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Billionaire Mukesh Ambani and his family, as well as Bollywood Superstar Amitabh Bachchan are among those who feature in a select state guest list of invitees to the consecration of the Ram temple next week. The web series “Indian Police Force,” directed by Rohit Shetty, renowned for his masala entertainers, has been released on Prime Video. Starring Sidharth Malhotra, Shilpa Shetty, Vivek Oberoi, and Mayyank Taandon in the lead roles, the Indian Police Force turns out to be a passable cop drama.

Story: Delhi Police are shocked as a series of bomb blasts took place in the National Capital. Kabir Malik (Sidharth Malhotra) and Vikram Bakshi (Vivek Oberoi), both part of an exclusive Delhi Police unit, are tasked with hunting down the perpetrators of blasts. Kabir and Vikram Bakshi are aided in solving the case by Gujarat ATS Chief Tara Shetty (Shilpa Shetty). Tara, Kabir, and Vikram try to get Haider, a.k.a Zarar (Mayyank Taandon), the mastermind behind the serial blasts. What challenges does the Police Force face in catching the terrorists and halting their plans is the rest of the story.

Performances: Sidharth Malhotra looked perfect in the lead role while Vivek Oberoi was effective till he lasted. Mayyank Taandon was terrific in the main villain role while Shilpa Shetty, Sharadh Kelkar, Vaidehi Parshurami, Shweta Tiwari, Mukesh Rishi, and others were apt.

Indian Police Force Analysis:

The OTT viewers were excited when they learned that Director Rohit Shetty, known for mass entertainers, has made a web series. However, The Indian Police Force is partially successful in giving an engaging experience as it appears to be a movie rather than a web series. The series has all the typical commercial elements that are very much present in Rohit Shetty’s films. 

Yes, a couple of heart-touching moments and some well-choreographed action and chase sequences work well, but the series has nothing special apart from that. The attempt to pay a respectful tribute to the police department is commendable, but it should have been more intense and effective. Many subplots could have been dealt with way better.

Indian Police Force Series Review and Verdict:

Indian Police Force is a passable cop drama with some breathtaking action episodes and emotional moments. However, predictable narrative, weak emotions and surface-level characters do not provide the required kick. The series can be a watchable fare for action lovers.

Venkatesh Quits Plans for Neru Remake?

For the past few weeks, there have been strong reports of Venkatesh being in talks for Mohanlal’s Neru’s Telugu remake. Neru was released in Malayalam on the 21st of December and despite the competition of big films like Salaar and Dunki, this courtroom drama became a massive success.

Neru was a comeback film for Mohanlal and it delivered 86Cr gross worldwide and emerged as an all-time top-grosser in Mollywood. Jeethu Joseph directed this film and he is also in talks for Drishyam 3 with Mohanlal next which is one of the most awaited Kollywood projects.

Antony Perumbavoor produced the film under his Aashirvaad Cinemas banner. Mohanlal and Jeethu have collaborated on Drishyam, Drishyam 2, 12th Man, and Ram: Part 1, which has yet to be released.

Jeethu has already directed Venkatesh in the Drishyam remake, and there were reports that he will also direct Venky for Neru.

But it seems that the plans have stopped as Neru will be streaming on Hotstar from 23rd January in Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and Kannada. If the movie is released on OTT then remaking the film makes little sense as the audience would have already watched the film on OTT and it will be a huge risk.

Shahrukh Khan was seen in his third film of the year 2023- Dunki. The film had managed to create massive expectations due to 2 factors. One was the Bollywood King joining hands with blockbuster director Raj Kumar Hirani. The second reason was Shahrukh Khan had delivered 2 1000 crore films back to back in 2023 in the form of Pathaan and Jawaan. Dunki was released on December 21st amidst great hope from fans but mixed talk

Dunki concluded its box office run with 460Cr gross worldwide. In india the nett is Rs 228Cr and the gross is Rs 270Cr. Overseas gross is 190Cr making it Shahrukh Khan’s third biggest grosser after Pathaan and Jawan. While everyone was hoping for another 1000 crore grosser from Shahrukh, Dunki managed to collect less than half of Pathaan and Jawan much to the fan’s disappointment.

The film was released on an excellent holiday period but the promotional content completely backfired completely and failed to create any buzz on the film. In addition to this, the film’s genre was also such that putting up record opening numbers was out of the question.

Financially the movie was a success as it was made on just an 85Cr budget excluding the remunerations of Shahrukh Khan and Raj Kumar Hirani. And it registered returns of around Rs 350Cr for them with theatrical and non-theatrical numbers by excluding all expenses and budget.

It is widely known that Prabhas and Prashanth Neel’s pan-Indian action drama Salaar was released in theaters worldwide on December 22nd and gathered 600Cr Gross worldwide. Though the Box Office performance of the film was a bit underwhelming, it did provide a bit of relief for the buyers. Salaar OTT Streaming must make a Big Impact.

Prabhas’s Salaar is not a clean blockbuster at the box office like Bahubali in all languages. As said above, the film’s performance at the box office was under the expectations, and it does not mean that numbers were low, but they were not great either.

The movie fared as a below average one in other languages and above average one in Telugu. The team has already announced that the sequel is on cards, and they are planning to start it as soon possible but to make this sequel a crazy project like Baahubali 2 or KGF 2 the film should work big on OTT streaming.

Even the first part of KGF did not deliver big numbers overall, but when it debuted on OTT it received a sensational response which created a massive craze for Part 2. Even the Pushpa Part 1 did the same thing after OTT release.

So Salaar needs the same kind of response on OTT as KGF and Pushpa to make its sequel as the most anticipated film for all Indian audiences. The film is streaming on Netflix from 20th January in South Indian languages, and the Hindi version will be streaming from mid-February.

According to the media reports, the Delhi High Court summoned T-Series and Netflix India in relation to a lawsuit filed by Cine1 Studios Private Limited, a co-producer of the recently released film Animal starring Ranbir Kapoor. The lawsuit aims to prevent the film from being released on any streaming or satellite platform until its grievances are resolved. The fans hoping to enjoy the film’s digital release from Republic Day will surely get sad by this as Legal Troubles Surround Animal’s OTT Release.

What is the issue between Animal Producers?

Cine1 Studios filed a lawsuit against T-Series, accusing them of violating the terms of their contract regarding the film Animal. The lawsuit aims to prevent the film from being released on OTT platforms. T-Series argues that Cine1 Studios gave up their rights in an amendment agreement made in August 2022. The Delhi High Court has summoned both parties and scheduled future hearings. This legal conflict could postpone the digital release of Animal.

Cine1 asserts that T-Series has violated the terms of its contract by neglecting to seek consultation or acquire consent for multiple elements, such as the release of pre-teasers, credits, marketing strategies, and the disclosure of final costs. Furthermore, Cine1 accuses T-Series of withholding information regarding the agreements made with Netflix India for internet rights and Sony Pictures Networks India for satellite rights.

Senior Advocate Amit Sibal, representing T-Series, contradicts these allegations by asserting that Cine1 relinquished all intellectual property and derivative rights for Rs 2.6 crores through an amendment agreement in August 2022.

Justice Sanjeev Narula presides over the court proceedings and has accepted the lawsuit. Summons have been issued to both defendants, instructing them to submit written statements and affidavits. The plaintiff also needs to file a reply and rejoinder if deemed necessary. The case is expected to be completed and evidence marked on March 15, with issue framing to occur later. Additional submissions have been scheduled for January 22, during which the legal teams will comprehensively present their arguments.
