Fighter director Siddharth Anand Blames Audiences

0

Fighter starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone and directed by Siddharth Anand released last month on 25th January amidst positive reviews and favorable word of mouth. The film got off to a decent start and did well over the Republic Day and subsequent weekend. Fighter, however, failed to cash in on the momentum and started seeing drops as soon as the weekdays arrived. The film is now running on single-digit collection daily much to the surprise of everyone.

Siddharth Anand, who directed this action drama has now attracted controversy over his statements about the audience’s failure to grasp the movie.

In a bizarre justification of the movie’s dull box-office performance, he said, “Around 90% of our country’s population has not experienced flying in planes or visited an airport. So, how would they comprehend what’s happening in the movie? It seemed a bit alien to them. They didn’t fully grasp the exhilaration of the air action, resulting in an initial disconnect. But once you step into the theatre, you realize this is such a basic film.”

Siddharth Anand should open his eyes to reality, reflect on his failures and see what worked and what didn’t in the film. He should ask himself why people did not connect to the film. Blaming audiences directly is senseless. Every director makes a film for audiences and it’s the director’s job to ensure the audience connects well to the film and its elements.

There have been numerous films made on extremely complicated themes and complicated screenplays and they have been hugely successful. So the blame doesn’t lie with the audience for sure.

Mythri Movies is setting a new benchmark in Nizam with genuine collection data

0

Mythri Movie Makers have established themselves as a leading production house in Tollywood giving several blockbusters in the last decade. Recently, the organization entered the distribution business in Nizam and has been behind several successful films including the recent Tollywood blockbuster HanuMan. The presence of Mythri has also brought a good change in collection reports.

Normally, there is no need for any manipulation in collections but our distributors and producers have been unnecessarily doing this. If everyone provides genuine collections then it will be good for everyone and even for trade. This can help understand the movie’s scope and Hero’s market.

If we see the overseas market, Rentrak will report official numbers so no one has a problem understanding a film’s true business. But here, most of the distributors and producers hesitate to report genuine collections.

But Mythri Movie Makers are setting a new benchmark in Nizam by providing real collection data from beginning. Waltair Veerayya, Veera Simha Reddy, Adipurush, Salaar and now HanuMan are some of the best examples where Mythri provided real data with all the details to everyone. As per the updates, HanuMan has collected 62.68Cr gross in 3 weeks and a share of 30.65Cr [Without GST] in Nizam.

This is a great change in the distribution model and hope other regions and distributors/producers also adopt this model.

Captain Miller OTT streaming languages and details out officially

0

Dhanush’s Captain Miller was released last month amidst positive reviews and talk. The film competed with Sivakarthikeyan’s Ayalaan in the Pongal race. Directed by Arun Matheswaran, the film also starred Priyanka Arul Mohan, Shivarajkumar, Aditi Balan, Sundeep Kishan, and John Kokken in key roles.

Set in the 1930s, during the British Raj, it follows a former British Army soldier trying to save his home village from destruction by the British Army. Now, the period action drama is getting ready for its OTT release. The film will be streamed on Amazon Prime Video from February 9th. The OTT giant made an official announcement regarding the same earlier today.

Captain Miller had a decent box-office run in Tamil Nadu but was a total washout in the Telugu states. The Telugu version of the film was even trimmed by 11 minutes to make the movie more engaging. On opening day with Republic Day Holiday advantage, it opened decently with 1Cr+ Gross collection but failed to impress the audiences and crashed completely on Day 2 and did not pick up after that.

Ambajipeta Marriage Band Movie Review – Decent & predictable village drama

0

Movie: Ambajipeta Marriage Band
Rating: 2.75/5
Cast:  Suhas, Shivani Nagaram, Sharanya Pradeep, Goparaju Ramana
Director: Dushyanth Katikaneni
Produced By: Dheeraj Mogilineni and Venkat Reddy
Release Date: 2nd February 2024

After a successful outing with Writer Padmabushan last year, Suhas is back with the action drama Ambajipeta Marriage Band. The film set in a rural backdrop has managed to surprise many with its trailer which was a combination of some lighthearted moments followed by heavy intense drama. The combination of the two extreme emotions has indeed created some curiosity. Let’s find out if the movie has enough to sustain the curiosity of the audience.

Story: Ambajipeta Marriage Band intertwines the stories of Malli (Suhas), who works in a Marriage band, and Padma (Sharanya), his twin sister who works as a teacher. Their lives become entangled with Venkat (Nithin), a money lender obsessed with caste and societal status, and his sister Lakshmi (Shivani), who falls for Malli. Padma, seeking Venkat’s help to convert her temporary job to a permanent job, finds herself embroiled in rumors. Because of some incidents, rifts begin between Padma and Venkat. One day Venkat in anger insults Padma leading to a rift between Malli and Venkat. How did they take revenge and what happened to Malli and Lakshmi’s love story is the rest of the story.

Performances: Suhas shines as Malli, while Sharanya delivers a powerful performance as Padma. Debutant Shivani does well and Nithin excels as the antagonist. Supporting actors, including Pushpa Jagadeesh, contribute effectively.

Analysis: Director Dushyanth Katikaneni skillfully crafts a raw village drama exploring caste inequalities. Though not a novel theme in Telugu cinema, the gripping narration keeps the film on track. Shekar Chandra’s music, particularly the BGM, elevates emotional moments, and some songs are noteworthy.

The first half sets a strong foundation with a hard-hitting interval, but the second half falters. While the short runtime helps, the love track feels underdeveloped, and the climax, though good, arrives abruptly just for the sake of closing it.

While production values and cinematography are commendable, the routine plot and underwhelming second half hold the film back.

Plus points:

Suhas & Sharanya’s Acting
Interval
Climax
Runtime

Negative points:

Routine plot
Love track
Unengaging 2nd half

Verdict: Ambajipeta Marriage Band offers a raw and emotional village drama hampered by a lackluster second half. Despite its flaws, the strong performances and impactful moments make it a decent one-time watch.

Puri Jagannadh Relieved from Drug Case

0

The 2018 drug case that shook Tollywood featured some of the biggest names of the industry. Among those several names was that of Tollywood star director Puri Jagannadh. The stars were brought in for questioning by the Excise Department for several hours and the whole process went on for quite some weeks.

In a major relief for the director the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) has declared that no samples of drugs were found in the ace director’s body and he had not consumed any kind of drugs during that period.

Based on these reports from FSL, the Nampally Court has dismissed the case against Puri Jagannadh and actor Tarun whose results have also come as negative. So far only Puri and Tarun’s samples have been tested by the FSL.

Koratala Siva Puts Mahesh Babu in Legal Trouble

0

Koratala Siva has come under legal scanner after plagiarism accusations over Srimanthudu. Supreme Court recently ordered that the director should face charges as per the lower court’s directions made earlier. The Nampally court had earlier instructed to file criminal charges against him. The director later approached the Telangana High Court due to this.

Speaking about this whole plagiarism row, writer Sarath Chandra said that he will file cases against Mahesh Babu and Mythri Naveen in the Supreme Court. The writer accused Srimanthudu is a copy of his story Chacheantha Prema which was published in Swathi Monthly Magazine back in 2012.

“Earlier when I tried to send notices to Mahesh Garu; To escape from this case, Namratha Garu changed ownership of MB creations from Mahesh Babu Garu to Gangadhar,” stated Sarath Chandra. It is to be noted that Mahesh Babu’s GMB Entertainment co-produced the film along with Mythri Movie Makers.

“I did 7 years of hard work on this story. I don’t want money, I want their acceptance of stealing my plot and due credits for my story,” revealed the writer.

Dil Raju Cancels Movie with Chiranjeevi

0

A few days back Dil Raju almost finalized a project with Chiranjeevi under Anil Ravipudi’s direction. The story discussions happened and Chiranjeevi also gave a positive response to the project. This film was planned to begin its shoot soon in parallel with Vishwambhara this year.

Anil Ravipudi is famous for making commercial entertainers and handles hero elevation scenes perfectly. Recently, with Balakrishna’s Bhagavath Kesari, Anil has proved he can make a film showing a senior hero in a different character without missing the mass elements.

However, the movie seems to have faced a roadblock over remuneration discussions as now OTT and satellite rights are not yielding producers big amounts as before.

The estimated budget is coming close to 170Cr if Chiranjeevi is the main lead. Dil Raju feels it could be a risky move so he has decided to take a step back on this one. Now as per reports, he has decided to change the lead cast and moved the same story to Venkatesh.

Venkatesh and Anil Ravipudi have a successful combination. This time they are starring Venkatesh as a solo hero and it will be a clean family entertainer. The announcement is expected very soon and Dil Raju may target Sankranthi 2025 release.
