Shahrukh Khan’s Disrespectful Comments on Ram Charan and Tollywood

0

The pre-wedding celebrations of Ananth Ambani and Radhika took place in Jamnagar. Among Tollywood celebrities, only Ram Charan and his wife Upasana attended the event. All bollywood stars were present, with the Khan trio joining Ram Charan for Naatu Naatu song dance, becoming one of the major highlights and going viral on the internet.

However, Shahrukh Khan’s comments towards Ram Charan are now facing significant criticism. Upasana’s makeup artist officially addressed the issue, expressing hurt over Shahrukh Khan’s invitation to Ram Charan onstage, referring to him as ‘Idly’ and ‘Vada.’ She mentioned walking out of the event after hearing these comments.

This incident has also saddened many Telugu audiences. Instances like this, where Bollywood stars attempt to downgrade South Indian cinema, have occurred before. While not all Bollywood stars engage in such behavior, some have made disrespectful comments about South cinema. While Shahrukh Khan may perceive these comments as humorous, Telugu audiences and fans view them as disrespectful.

Budget Challenges for Mega Young Heroes

0

With the downfall of the non-theatrical market, several movies are facing strict budget constraints. Few films are even getting shelved after announcements and a lot of publicity. This is happening particularly in the case of mega young heroes. Recently Sai Dharam Tej also faced these challenges for Ganjayi Shankar. The project was officially announced with a glimpse of Sampath Nandi as the director. With the budget going overboard on its paper itself the team put the project on hold and is trying to cut corners with the budget.

Now, Varun Tej is also facing the same issues as his recent films completely crashed at the box office. His movies are struggling to lock in good thetarical offers and now non thetarical offers also not showing positive signs. The shooting of his next film Matka started in mid-December and it was planned on a high budget. Matka was planned as a pan-India release under Palasa director Karuna Kumar’.

The film is based on a real incident and with the backdrop of the 1960s, the story will span 24 years from 1958 to 1982. Now the makers of this project are also in a dilemma with Varun Tej’s recent form and movie going over budget.

Vaishnav Tej is also facing the same issues. After his blockbuster debut Uppena, he delivered massive disasters recently in the form of Aadikeshava. His other films like Kondapolam and Ranga Ranga Vaibhavamga also failed to make a mark at the box office. All the mega young heroes are facing budget struggles for their upcoming films and their recent track record has raised further concerns.

Prashanth Varma: The Next Rajamouli?

0

S. S. Rajamouli is undoubtedly the first craftsman of the Telugu film fraternity to achieve stardom across the length and breadth of the country; this is particularly significant in the Hindi belt, where he has established himself as a brand that needs no introduction; the mammoth success of RRR Hindi version is a proof of that.

Keeping aside this’man of the millennium’, there are hardly any filmmakers from Tollywood with such esteemed super-stardom throughout the nation. While Sandeep Reddy Vanga is without doubt a superstar director, his work doesn’t fall under the mainstream category for obvious reasons. Having said that, the question, “Who’s the next Rajamouli?” remains unanswered. Well, dear readers, this is the exact subject this article aims to dissect: Prashanth Varma, the man behind the blockbuster super-her flick Hanu-Man, can be touted as TFI’s next big thing, or, in other words, the next Rajamouli.

After working on a couple of short films and televison commercials, Varma made his feature film debut with Awe (2018), a psychological cross-genre film starring Kajal Agarwal in the lead role, which received widespread critical acclaim upon release. Basking in the film’s success, he directed Rajasekhar in the investigative thriller Kalki (2019), which ended up being an average venture at the box office. In 2021, he made a comeback with Zombie Reddy, an action comedy set against the backdrop of zombies that was a critical and commercial success.

After a three-year hiatus from films, he co-wrote and directed Hanu-Man, a superhero flick starring his usual choice, Teja Sajja. Premeired amidst high expectations, the film received rave reviews from audiences, who lavished praise on Varma’s screenwriting, direction, and visualisation of Lord Hanuman. Expectedly, it went on to become a huge commercial success, not just in Telugu but also in Hindi. The film’s success encapsulated Varma’s superstardom among cinephiles across the nation.

Needless to say, this was a major breakthrough in Varma’s career; as announced before, a saga of superhero films in the same universe, Prashanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU), are in development, which includes a direct sequel to Hanu-Man titled ‘Jai Hanu-Man‘, ‘Adhira’, which marks the acting debut of Kalyan Dasari and an untitled female superhero film. It must be seen how this young lad will handle this enormous superstardom at such a young age.

Balakrishna’s all-time blockbuster Samarasimha Reddy was the latest film to be re-released. Samarasimha Reddy was re-released by Mamtha Creations on the occasion of the film completing its 25 Years.

Mamtha Creations released the film on a good number of screens on 2nd March. However, the audience and even fans did not show any interest in this re-release. Even the recently released Kick 4K version also failed to make an impact.

Directed by B Gopal and written by Vijayendra Prasad, Samarasimha Reddy’ went on to become a massive success and a trendsetter in the Telugu film industry. With the release of Gaami trailer, Vishwak Sen has stunned everyone. Directed by Vidyadhar Kagita who has also written its screenplay alongside Pratyush Vatyam, Gaami has become Tollywood’s hot topic due to its extraordinary visuals and great production values.

The shooting of Gaami started some 6-7 years ago and finally, the movie is set for release on 8th March. The team stunned the audience with the trailer where the visuals, CG work, and the plot concept created huge anticipation. Vishwak Sen who is playing an Aghora in the film pointed out some interesting aspects about the movie during its promotional event.

“Gaami’s screenplay will be on the level of Dunkirk. The audience is going to get the experience and satisfaction of watching a Christopher Nolan film after they watch Gaami,” he said.

He further added that Tollywood has not witnessed a film like Gaami so far and it will give them an experience like never before. Emotions are the biggest commercial asset of the movie and it is a movie with a global appeal and will give the viewers great cinematic memory.

Interestingly, Vishwak Sen has not taken any remuneration for the film so far. The film is a great cinematic experience and he didn’t want to burden the makers who have worked extremely hard over the last 6-7 years to make this film a reality. The film was initially started as a crowd-funded movie and later Karthik Sabareesh took the film to production under Karthik Kult Kreations
