Gopichand’s Bhimaa: Censor & Business Details

Actor Gopichand is a talented individual; whether it’s mouthing powerful dialogues or bashing goons, he can do them with ease. However, he has had a tough phase in his career lately, bearing continuous failures in both experimental and commercial films. His next release, Bhimaa, is slated for release this Friday and features the Golimar star as a powerful cop. The film’s theatrical trailer received a thumbs up from the masses, with some drawing comparisons with Boyapati Sreenu’s Akhanda (2021).

The makers of the project have completed the censorship formalities with an ‘A’ certificate for a crisp duration of 143 minutes. Coming to the economics, the film’s breakeven mark stands at a modest INR 14 crore; Disney+ Hotstar and Star Maa have bagged digital streaming and satellite rights, respectively, for undisclosed prices.

Gopichand is apparently super-confident about this film and hopes to revive his career, which has witnessed too many failures in recent times. The film’s carrying a good buzz in the trade, thanks to the promotional content released so far.

Mammootty’s Super Hit Bramayugam OTT streaming details

Mammootty’s recent horror-thriller Bramayugam is now ready for its OTT premiere. The film was released on 15th February last month and went on to become a massive commercial and critical success. Mammootty’s performance and the film’s thrilling elements received great applause from all sections of the audience and collected more than Rs 60 crores making it one of the big hits of Mollywood.

The film was also released in Telugu by Sitara Entertainment. Unfortunately, it did not well theatrically in Telugu. Film lovers are now eagerly awaiting the OTT release of the film and much to their joy, the official streaming details are out. Sony Liv has acquired the digital rights of the film and it will stream on the platform from March 15th.

Directed by Rahul Sadasivan, Bramayugam is one of the three big hits of the Malayalam industry this year with the other two films- Premalu and Manjummel Boys also receiving unanimous acceptance from audiences all over. All these three films have brought back the audience to theatres in Kerala and Tamil Nadu; giving great relief to the trade circles.

LCU’s Next: A Short Film On The Universe’s Origins

Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) requires no introduction; to say the least, it’s the biggest franchise or brand in Kollywood today. The most recent release in this saga, Leo (2023), was a mammoth commercial success, thus paving the way for Kaithi-2, Vikram-2, and a stand-alone film on Rolex.

However, it looks like Mr. Kanagaraj has other plans in mind; the writer-director has reportedly filmed a short film featuring Arjun Das and Kalidas Jayaram. In a recent media interaction, the latter revealed some exclusive details about this project: the short film’s core idea is to explain the origins of LCU, with a special focus on the characters Prabhanjan and Anbu. Anirudh Ravichander will compose music for this surprise venture.

Kanagaraj, who’s currently working on the script for ‘Super Star’ Rajinikanth, which is not part of LCU, has been tight-lipped about this secret endeavour of his. If rumours are to go by, this short film will have a release when the pre-production of Kaithi-2 kickstarts.

Janhvi Kapoor, the daughter of the legendary actress Sridevi, is enjoying the peak phase of her career with multiple high-profile projects in her kitty. The bubbly actress is already part of Koratala Siva’s Devara, where she will play a village belle and, of course, NTR’s love interest.

Within no time, Janhvi has bagged yet another biggie; as officially announced by Mythri Movie Makers, she will be the female lead in the sports drama starring ‘Global Star’ Ram Charan, directed by Buchi Babu Sana.

Ram Charan is the most hotshot actor in the country today, primarily for his role in Rajamouli’s epic action film RRR (2022), which received widespread acclaim internationally. The macho star is currently shooting for Shankar’s Game Changer, after which he’ll kickstart the filming of Buchi Babu Sana’s project.

All in all, Janhvi Kapoor is currently in an envoius position in the entertainment industry; she’s romancing both the RRR stars after all. It must be seen how these ventures end up at the box office.

TN Box office: Manjummel Boys Overtakes Rajinikanth’s Lal Salaam

Manjummel Boys is continuing its terrific hold at the Tamil Nadu box office. The movie is doing a great job and registering around Rs 3 crore collections consistently on weekdays. Even today’s bookings are solid and it looks like Manjummel Boys will have another great weekday in TN.

The film so far has collected around Rs 22Cr gross in Tamil Nadu and has surpassed the collections of Superstar Rajinikanth’s Lal Salaam which closed at Rs 20 crores in Tamil Nadu.

If the same trend continues, the film will certainly cross the 50 Cr gross mark in the full run and even cross Sivakarthikeyan’s Ayalaan closing. It may end up as the highest grosser in Tamil Nadu so far and with no notable Tamil releases in the next few weeks, it could hold the distinction for quite some time. Manjummel Boy’s overall worldwide gross is close to 115 Cr till now.

Manjummel Boys is based on a true story and follows the events after a group of friends from Cochin leave for an adventure to Kodaikanal. Written and directed by Chidambaram, the film stars  Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Ganapathi S. Poduval, Lal Jr.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal starring Ranbir Kapoor, despite being a massive blockbuster, has received some intense reactions from critics and even industry insiders. Naturally, in any industry, there will be multiple sections of people and opinions. After the release of Animal last December, a section of people in all industries felt it was a cult film, while others had other opinions.

The film did wonders at the Box office and made Sandeep Reddy Vanga a pan-Indian brand. One section where the film got particularly negative talk was from the Tamil netizen. These statements did not go down well with a lot of Tamil audiences who lashed out at Sivakarthikeyan as well. These actions are a clear sign of Tamil netizens’ insecurity on Sandeep Reddy Vanga.

Manjummel Boys, which was recently released in Malayalam, is also rocking with collections overseas too. Manjummel Boys achieves another milestone at the box office as the movie crosses $5 million.

It was the 4th Mollywood film to do 5 million in overseas markets after 2018 Movie, which released in 2023 and collected 8.25 million overseas; Lucifer, which released in 2019 and collected over 7.2 million in total; and Pulimurugan, which released in 2016 and grossed over 5.8 million. 

For Manjummel Boys, the Middle East is the top contributor with more than $3 million in gross, followed by North America and Europe, which have strong performances. It is estimated that this film will definitely beat Pulimurugan and enter the all-time top 3 to beat Lucifer; It needs a strong run for another few weeks.

The 2018 movie is likely to continue as the No. 1 position. The main difference between Manjummel Boys and the 2018 movie is the Gulf markets. In the Gulf, the 2018 movie has collected around 5.7 million, while Manjummel Boys is currently at 3 million and still counting.

Fans expected the teaser to raise expectations. But now the song is said to be released even though there is an update for Ram Charan’s birthday, but fans are not pleased with the song’s release.
