The Malayalam film “Manjummel Boys” continues its box office dominance! After becoming the highest-grossing Mollywood film ever with over 200 crores worldwide, it’s now setting its sights on a new record in Tamil Nadu.

“Manjummel Boys” has captured the hearts of audiences beyond Kerala, performing exceptionally well in Tamil Nadu despite not having a dubbed Tamil version. The film’s connection to the iconic Kamal Haasan movie “Guna” (filmed partly in Kodaikanal) likely resonated with Tamil viewers. Additionally, the story unfolds in Kodaikanal, with key dialogues even being spoken in Tamil, further drawing in the Tamil audience.

This phenomenal success has “Manjummel Boys” on track to becoming the highest-grossing film of the year in Tamil Nadu. The film has already surpassed the 50 crore mark with its original Malayalam version and currently sits at around 54 crores in just 26 days. This puts it on course to dethrone “Ayalaan” starring Sivakarthikeyan, which collected around 57 crores in January.

Directed by Chidambaram, “Manjummel Boys” is a survival drama based on a true story. It follows a group of friends from Ernakulam who embark on a trek through the Guna caves, only to face a life-threatening situation. The film features Sreenath Bhasi, Soubin Shahir, Ganapathi, Balu Varghese, and Jean-Paul Lal in key roles.

With its gripping story and strong performances, “Manjummel Boys” has proven to be a crowd-pleaser across language barriers. The film’s potential to become the top-grosser in Tamil Nadu is a testament to its universal appeal.

Baahubali Producer and Rajamouli Son collaborate for two films

Baahubali Producer, Shobu Yarlagadda and Director SS Rajamouli’s son SS Karthikeya have collaborated for two of their upcoming films. Malayalam Actor, Fahadh Faasil has been cast as the lead actor for both films officially. The films are titled Don’t Trouble the Trouble and the other is Oxygen. Shobu confirmed the news through X where he tweeted the same. Shobu earlier collaborated with the father of Karthikeya, SS Rajamouli for films Maryada Ramanna and Pan India sensation Baahubali.

He said that they are also introducing two talented directors with these two films, Shashank and Siddartha. He also said he is partnering with ambitious and dynamic Karthikeya. Karthikeya on the other hand too shared about him becoming a producer soon through his X account. He recently distributed the Telugu Version of the Malayalam blockbuster, Premalu. Premalu became a box office sensation by grossing more than 10 crores in the Telugu Version itself. The film impressed the youth audiences who supported the film during the second weekend as well.

Premalu initially competed with both Bhima and Gaami but withstood the competition and emerged as the winner. The film is also on its way to grossing more than 20 crores worldwide in its final run. It also grossed 100 crores with the Malayalam version worldwide. It will have its release in Tamil through Red Giants films soon.

Amazon’s Prime Video has been a fairly successful venture in the Indian market; the American streaming gain has cracked the minds of Indian audiences.

Having said that, here is a list of upcoming films that will be available for streaming on Prime Video in the near future. Apart from Kalki 2898 AD, Prabhas’ Raja Saab is one project that has got the audience’s curiosity quite high. The film will be different from the Rebel Star’s recent pan-India films and will have a lot of Telugu nativity. Directed by Maruthi, the film has managed to create quite some buzz right from the day of its announcement.

Speaking about the movie, producer TG Vishwa Prasad shared some interesting information. “Prabhas’ Raja Saab will have a huge VFX quotient and a very huge part that you didn’t even think of. The film is going to be a visual wonder on screen. Since Kalki 2898AD is there, we’re waiting for its release, so that we can start releasing content. The film promotions will start after the release of Kalki.”

Raja Saab is of the horror genre and the makers had initially planned to shoot the film at a quick pace to accommodate other pan-India biggies such as Adipurush, Salaar, and Kalki. The film’s first schedule started in 2022 October and shockingly the movie is still on set and a lot of shoot parts are pending.

The movie is being planned for Sankranti 2025 release in case Chiranjeevi’s Vishwambhara is postponed. If Vishwambhara arrives on Sankranti then Raja Saab will move to early summer 2025.

Malayalam film, Manjuemmel Boys turned into a box office sensation recently. It had collected 150 crores worldwide becoming the second Malayalam film to achieve the feat. Now it looks like the film surpassed this feat even. Manjummel Boys has hit the 200 crores mark worldwide becoming the first Malayalam film to do so.

The other film close to this feat will be 2018 starring Tovino Thomas which too became a nationwide sensation. The film did very well posting more than 150 crores and had the record of becoming the first Malayalam film to surpass the mark until now which is broken by Manjummel Boys. The film released in Tamil Nadu directly and became a sensation there as well. It is yet to release in Telugu.

Manjummel Boys is all about a group of friends who plan to tour around the famous Guna caves where the film Guna starring Kamal Haasan was shot. They end up getting into trouble when one of their friends falls into a cave accidentally. They then engage in pulling him out with great conviction and succeed in saving him. This was very well received not only by Malayalam audiences but also by the Tamil Audiences. The connection of Guna helped Tamil Audiences to own the film.

Director SS Rajamouli’s son SS Karthikeya has decided to venture into the production department. He also worked as an Assistant Director under Rajamouli and still supervises his upcoming projects. Recently, he turned as a distributor for the Telugu Dubbed Version of the Malayalam Blockbuster, Premalu in the Telugu States.

Premalu which carried hype even before its release in Telugu continued its success here as well. The film opened to normal reviews on the opening day but gathered momentum thereby becoming a very good profitable venture. The Telugu Version has collected around 12 crores gross worldwide and it is still running very well posting strong Box-office numbers. It even outsmarted Bhima and Gaami which released with okayish reviews in the beginning but performed poorly afterwards. Both have ended up as failures. But Premalu stood the competition and emerged as the winner surprisingly. This is not at all expected for a dubbed version and that too from the Malayalam language.

The film is expected to collect more than 20 crores gross worldwide in its final run. With this phenomenal success, SS Karthikeya has officially announced through a tweet on X that he would be venturing into the production department soon. Let’s see how he would fare as a Producer.
