Satyabhama movie review: Kajal’s power-packed attempt engages in parts

0

Movie: Satyabhama
Rating: 2.5/5
Cast: Kajal Aggarwal, Naveen Chandra, Prakash Raj, Nagineedu, Harsha Vardhan
Director: Suman Chikkala
Produced By:  Bobby Tikka, Srinivas Rao Takkalapelly
Release Date: June 7th, 2024

Kajal Agarwal is back in an intense action packed role in Satyabhama. The trailer of the film managed to impress the audience with Kajal showcasing her action prowess and intense side. Directed by Sumna Chikkala, Satyabhama is a crucial movie for Kajal and she has been actively promoting it for past few weeks as a power-packed package of action and thrilling elements. Let’s see if the film has enough punch in it.

Story:

Satyabhama is the story of Kajal Agarwal in the titular role as an ACP. For her, duty comes first and she believes in going to extreme ends to fulfill her duty. She is approached by a woman named Haseena, who reports domestic violence from her husband. Unfortunately, Haseena is killed and later on her brother is abducted. Who’s behind all this? how this case turns Satyabhama’s life upside down and will Satyabhama solve the mystery is what the movie follows.

Performances:

Kajal’s look and body language as a tough cop are spot on and her characterization is quite well-developed. She looks stylish and impresses as a duty-bound cop. However, her inexperience and weakness in stunts are quite visible and her fight scenes look unconvincing in many places. Prakash Raj, Naveen Chandra, Ravi Varma, and Harsha Vardhan provide decent support but there’s nothing much to take home.

Positives:

  • Kajal’s look and characterization
  • Engaging 1st half
  • BGM

Negatives:

  • Predictable scenes
  • 2nd Half
  • Kajal’s action scenes
  • Screenplay

Verdict:

Satyabhama has its own flaws in writing and its inability to keep the audience hooked in the second half dilutes the viewers’ experience. The film definitely has some high points and if you enjoy investigative thrillers or are a Kajal Agarwal fan, you’ll surely have a better experience watching it.

Massive Bookings For Kalki: 2898 AD In USA

With no offence to Pushpa: The Rule, Kalki: 2898 AD is the most talked-about film of the year so far. Helmed by Nag Ashwin Reddy, this sci-fi epic features Prabhas and Deepika Padukone in lead roles.

The project’s carrying great buzz among audiences, all credit to the animated series ‘Bujji & Bhairava’. To capitalise on this, the film’s bookings were opened two days ago in a location in America, and to their surprise, the pre-sales have already crossed $150K.

This is an insane amount considering the fact that the release is three weeks away and the theatrical trailer is not out yet. Considering this figure, trade expects Kalki: 2898 AD to take the biggest opening for any Indian film in the USA. The film also stars Kamal Hassan and Amitabh Bachchan in key supporting roles.

Pawan Kalyan’s OG Bags A Record OTT Deal!

‘They Call Him OG’ is an upcoming gangster drama film starring ‘Power Star’ Pawan Kalyan in the lead role. Bankrolled by ‘DVV Entertainment’, it is written and directed by Sujeeth Reddy of Saaho (2019) fame.

Considering the tremendous hype surrounding it, Netlfix has bagged the digital streaming rights to OG for a mammoth INR 90 crore, a record sum for anyone involved in the project. Besides Telugu, the film will have a wide release in Tamil and Hindi.

The project was supposed to be the next release of Pawan Kalyan, but due to date allocation and production delays, it has been postponed to 2025. OG also stars Priyanka Arul Mohan, Arjun Das, and Emran Hasmi in key supporting roles. S. Thaman is composing the film’s tunes.

Praise For Ram Charan – Trolls On Allu Arjun

For ‘Mega Fans’ present across the globe, this is a phase of celebration for obvious reasons. As a part of it, the entire film fraternity was seen together at Chiranjeevi’s residence to congratulate Pawan Kalyan for his resounding victory in the elections.

Besides Kalyan’s affection for his dear brother, mother, and sister-in-law, what touched fans’ hearts was Ram Charan’s gesture in the footage that’s been released on the web. Despite being a true ‘Global Star’ with a huge following in the masses, he touched the feet of his uncle Pawan Kalyan and aunt Anna Lezhnava to take their blessings.

Fans are truly mesmerised by the bonding individuals share in this celebrated family. On the flip side, no one from the ‘Allu’ compound was seen in the video, which triggered fans yet again after the infamous campaign Allu Arjun did for a YSRCP candidate. As expected, the Pushpa star faced the wrath of ‘Mega’ fans, who’ve decided to boycott his films completely.

Manamey movie review: Decent drama with a mix of fun and emotions

0

Movie: Manamey
Rating: 2.75/5
Cast: Sharwanand, Krithi Shetty, Vikram Adittya, Vennela Kishore, Seerat Kapoor
Director: Sriram Adithya
Produced By:  TG Vishwa Prasad
Release Date: June 7th, 2024

Sriram Adithya’s Manamey starring Sharwanand and Krithi Shetty in lead roles is the latest Tollywood release of the week. While the film has not managed to create a massive buzz and expectations, the makers are hoping the initial talks will help the film get off a good start at the box-office. Let’s find out if the movie succeeded in capturing the audience’s attention or not.

Story:

Maname follows the life of Vikram (Sharwanand) a carefree youngster from London. Due to a cruel twist of fate he has to become a caretaker of the child of his friends who passed away in a road accident. He is joined by Subhadra (Kirthi Shetty) and the couple have to co-parent the child. Both Vikram and Subhadra are poles apart in terms of their approach to life. How they set aside their differences and whether they manage to successfully take care of the child amidst personality clashes is what the movie follows.

Performances:

Sharwanand has played similar characters many times in his career and he shines here as well. His comic timing as well performance in emotional scenes are a treat to watch. Krithi Shetty has got a meaty role and does justice to her portions as well. Apart from the lead pair, other characters like Seerat Kapoor, Ayesha Khan etc. have half-baked roles and make no difference to the movie.

Positives:

  • Lead actor’s performances
  • 1st half
  • Visuals and Music
  • Dialogues and entertainment

Negatives:

  • Weak emotions
  • 2nd Half
  • Lengthy and unnecessary filler scenes
  • Predictable story and screenplay

Verdict:

Manamey starts well and provides a good balance of entertainment, comedy and drama in the first half. Sharwanand manages to shoulder the movie despite weak writing in parts. But it’s the second half where the same flow gets disturbed and might test the audience’s patience. Overall, it’s a decent watch if you’re in the mood for some lighthearted fun and family drama.

This has come as a huge boost for the makers especially considering Telangana exhibitors’ recent decision to stop the mid-night shows. We now need to see what plan Aswini Dutt and co. chalk out in Telangana.
